Very disappointed. Our first and last time there. Staff were not friendly at all. Prices were average. Food was subpar. Biggest complaint our table of 10 had was the unwillingness to split the check. When we asked to have separate checks, the response was, No we can't, it is printed on the menu. We hadn't even seen the menu yet! They also automatically added the tip. We all had to figure out our share of the bill. Afterwards it was discovered that too much money had been left, leaving her a sizeable tip, which she did not deserve. (She would be sitting at the bar chatting when she should have been waiting on customers) I would not recommend. read more

We stopped here on a Sunday for a late lunch /early dinner (Linner in our house) it was our first time there. We found a seat on the patio, but realized quickly the chairs are definitely Not comfortable out there, we were lucky and quickly found a window side table with regular chairs inside. We ordered fried pickles and mozzarella sticks for apps, a Ruben, a stake sandwich and a panini. All were tasty and would order again. One minor problem was that I ordered my steak cooked medium and it came to me undoubtedly rare, I don't hate rare so I didn't complain. The service was very good, the place was packed and our server looked young and inexperienced, she turned out to be very good. I judged the book by its cover, and was wrong. We had an excellent experience there and will add it to our rotation. I gave it four not five stars because the deck furniture and the rare meat. Oh the parking is a challenge. The food had been a little uneven but our breakfast today was outstanding. Sat on the deck of a beautifil fall afternoon. The rancheros skillet was hot and flavorful! Everyone else was extremely pleased with their breakfast. Very nice surpirse! read more

Working from home can be tough coming up with a lunch idea sometimes. Both of us were home and decided to order lunch from the sunset grill to go. We were so pleased with the yummy options. The soup was a great choice and will definitely be a choice next time as well. read more

Waited 30 minutes for a table, which is normal for a Sunday on a nice day. We ordered an app, which 20 min later they said they didn't have anymore. Then we ordered and waited over an hour and 20 min for our food, then ended up being completely wrong. Not a great experience. read more

Who doesn't like to be at the lake? This place has a great view of the lake, great atmosphere and a tropical breeze when it's nice out and the garage doors are open! Oh, and the food here is delicious - they even have paninis, an excellent choice for lunch. There's so much more on the menu and the staff provides excellent service. There's also plenty of outdoor seating during the summer. This is one of my favorite Friday lunch spots! Just ask my brother Mark! read more

Horrible. Let's just start with Friday's "fish fry." See picture. They used to have an AYCE-pretty good. Now they charge $13 for 2 pieces of fish. TWO. And it's bad-doesn't taste good at all. It's like it's frozen or something. Bad. Oh well, the other food on their menu is good, right? WRONG. Came back today (Sunday). Not many people here but a bunch of waitresses. Our waitress, after getting us drinks, completely forgot about us. She walked past us maybe 4/5 times and never stopped to take our order. We flagged another girl down and finally got a new waitress. We ordered food. I got the stuffed pablano peppers for $11. Saddest display of food I've ever seen. I got 1 pepper cut in half stuffed with sausage and cream cheese. For $11!!!! My mom got the tater tots that were beyond cold and my boyfriend got the 'Bernie burger.' ($12) keep in mind that if you want fries it's like $2 extra... Waitress never asked how he wanted his burger done..he got it and it was burnt to a crisp. BUT all the waitresses disappeared. My mother had to get up to find someone to show this burnt burger to. "We will give you a discount and remake the burger"-different waitress. A lady next to us also returned her burnt burger too. Fast forward 20 min, half our party left and we finally got our burger. Immediately I wanted it 2-go and the bill. Keep in mind that during this entire meal, our drinks were never refilled. EVER. We get home to eat the burger and it's charred yet again. This whole experience was horrible. It's got a great location on the lake and I really thought they were making improvements..but I was wrong. Ugh. My goal isn't to shoot the place down, I just feel like I need to make aware of my frustration so that changes can be made. read more

We go to this establishment quite a lot and normally have no problems however this evening was not the case. They were extremely busy as it was a lovely evening and we had to wait about 45 mins for our food which really we didn't mind as our waitress would check on us regularly for drink top ups. When the food finally came my daughter's order was incorrect. This I will say was our fault as we had omitted to say no tomatoes in the quesadillas. I asked if we could get another order quickly but our waitress explained it would be an hour wait. I understand it was our mistake but how hard is it to rush a quesadilla order. Consequently we didn't bother and our daughter was left with no dinner. We quickly ate ours and left. I felt annoyed because there were 6 of us in our party and there is a mandatory 20% added for parties of 6 so in my mind the waitress had no incentive to replace our order as she knew she was getting a good tip regardless. read more

The venue is really nice and most of the staff are good. However, we were there on a Sunday night and there was a big German shepherd that was out of control. Apparently it belonged to one of the staff. It lunged at at least one patron and two other dogs. It was extremely aggressive. And no one did anything about it, including the owner of the dog that sat there with a smug look on his dumb bearded face. After multiple attacks, the owners of the dog just sat there and did nothing, forcing others to leave. It was absurd. Other than that, it was nice. read more

Truly tasteful food and drinks available here. Great service and fun spot in front of the lake. I stopped by for a gal pal reunion and me and my gals were not disappointed. I opted for the pulled pork Sammie. So damn yummy! Crisp and fresh cole slaw served on the side which I piled on top of the tasty pulled pork. Delish fries and home cooked chips. Deep fried onions served alacarte for more sandwich pilings. Really good food here, great service, nice lake view! Put this place on yer list!! read more

Absolutely fantastic! Brought our 18 month old son as the restaurant was very clean, very accommodating, and the staff was one of the best we have ever had! The server split our food without asking, came back multiple times for stuff for our son, and the bartender offered to even wash his bib. Food was good pub food as we loved the burgers and cheese curds. Great view of the lake as well, thank you Sunset Grill! read more

Usually have no issue with this place. Waited an hour to get our table--which was expected on a Summer night Saturday--only to finally get seated and get served the wrong food. Specifically ordered a Chicken Ranch Pizza (pointed to on their menu when ordering) they served us BBQ jalapeño, which we couldn't eat. When confronted about the issue, they claimed that that item was not on their menu. We proceeded to look at their menu online to confirm our suspicions, that F*ckin pizza was on their menu. The server avoided us for the next 35 minutes. Finally, she brought us the correct pizza,apologized for their mistake and comped the incorrect pizza. Sh*t was bomb. 5 stars all the way. read more

Not used to writing reviews but this has to be said. Stopped here after years of driving by (previous names and owners can't seem to get it either). Asked waitress for recommendation of best sandwich. No hesitation, she says the "Brisket". Read the menu description and waited in anticipation. Probably the only thing that matched the description was the brioche bun... the $12 sandwich had enough brisket to cover about half of the inside of the bun (guessing 2-3 ounces). It was topped with something that was not distinguishable as "coleslaw and haystack onions" slathered with BBQ sauce. When brought to the waitresses attention she pointed to a spot of BBQ sauce on the end of a lonely piece of stringy gray meat and explained that the "haystack" onions were the "mini" variety (sic). The view was nice but there is no excuse for the ridiculously poor food. read more

We're not sure if this place will make it in Lake Country. So many other places in the are to go to that are much better and friendlier. We have been coming here for the last four years. Every time we visited we had a great meal and excellent service. Unfortunately this establishment has really dropped in food quality and service. In the past we would have given them 5 stars but now 2 stars is being generous. We were excited to bring our friends here this summer. We noticed a sharp decline in food and service so we thought we would give them another try a week later. That experience was even worse. We went back today and it is probably the last time for us. The server was friendly but it went downhill from there. The food order was delivered cold (nachos and hot wings) and the special request for no jalapeños on the nachos didn't happen. Our server didn't check back with us so we were left with cold food. After 20 minutes the server stopped by. We told her about our meal and she apologized and gave us our bill. We went here yesterday afternoon for some drinks and to enjoy some live music. - Well the service is really poor - felt like we were invisible. - Waited forever at the bar to get two bottles of beer - had a $20 bill out and the bar was not even that busy with two bartenders on deck. When we finally got our drinks we asked to be seated outside and that took a lot longer than it should have as well. - Plenty of staff on hand so no excuse for that. Once we were finally seated and were enjoying the band not once did a server come to ask us if we wanted something to eat or another drink....Not.... once.... If it weren't for the great band playing we would of left way earlier for lack of service. - Needless to say our tips went to the band - Guess those kids don't want/need money?? read more

Best sunset on any lake in lake country! Fantastic pizza, delicious appetizers and a fantastic bbq sandwich. Often times there is live music on the patio and with the boat slips there's always action going on. You can pull up on your boat as well. The staff is always very sweet as well. read more

Stopped in Sunday to check out the renovated upstairs, take in the lake view and get some lunch. It was busy and it seemed like the staff was still getting used to being back open. While multiple staff members stood around the hostess station, our waitress and another were running around like crazy waiting on multiple tables. As a result, our waitress forgot our food order, took our drink order then came back and asked if we wanted something to drink, so we gave her our drink order again, she disappeared when we wanted a second drink and when I asked the many staff people standing around if they could get us another round, they went and found our waitress instead of just getting us drinks, so that took longer. We've been here many times in the past and enjoyed the outdoor music and the view, but this time the service was lacking. read more

I have eaten at the restaurant about 5-6 times because they have a great patio outside. They are a local restaurant and I want to see them succeed. Each time I hope the food and service have gotten better. However, each of these times the food has been mediocre and the service less than impressive. This most recent visit, the price on the menu and what we were charged were different, we had to ask 3-4 times for things like ketchup and drink refills, and the food was terrible. We waited for almost an hour for food when there was only one other table outside and one table inside. Being a long time Pewaukee restaurant patron, I have to say I won't go back to Sunset Grill again despite the great patio thanks to this last visit being the nail on the coffin. read more

Terribly managed prime time lake front property. More people walk away than get seated. What a waste of an amazing opportunity to make a killing every summer just because of that view. They are understaffed, don't know how to manage a kitchen or patio seating and have terrible customer service. Don't both waiting for a table, instead go next door for an amazing burger and the same beautiful view. read more
