We ate here today, and had a very bad experience. Hygiene - Very Poor. The place is filled with flies. The flies have gotten big eating all the eggs, sausage and bacon being served to customers. And they keep the doors wide open welcoming all the flies to come in and share food with the customers. We were literally trying to eat in between waving and trying to shoo away the flies. Service - Very poor. Food took almost 1/2 hour arrive and the servers were not friendly at all. Food - Poor. Quality and taste of food is not good. The pancakes we ordered came burned on one side, and still wasn't cooked well inside. Price - High. Not worth the money for the quality and service. I wonder why people visit this restaurant - we've learned our lesson, and have decided never to eat at this horrible restaurant again. read more

Some friends and I ate here on a Sunday afternoon after a weekend of drinking. We thought that having a greasy breakfast before making the journey back to Toronto would be a good idea. First of all, the hostesses are super rude. They didn't keep us updated on our table and quickly gave it away when we didn't show up within a few minutes of our names being called. When we inquired about how much longer we had to wait since we lost our table, the hostess gave us attitude and wasn't professional about the entire ordeal. Anyway, onto our actual dining experience. The restaurant itself is not the cleanest. The mugs and teapots we were given were caked with some sticky substance. The decor was super tacky. Nothing matched, but I guess that's the look they were going for? My friends and I ordered a wide variety of things, from pancakes to omelettes, to classic breakfasts. I ordered the crab cake benedict that was advertised on the front of the menu. I have very high expectations of crab cake bennies because I work at a restaurant that serves the most amazing ones. I was served IMITATION crab meat patties. For $15, I was expecting at least some real crab in there. The crab cakes were soggy and not very good. I didn't finish my meal and was pretty annoyed about being served imitation crab meat. The pancakes I hear were chunky (from undermixing the batter?) and underdone. No one particularly enjoyed their meals. The only reason I'm giving this place a two star rating instead of a one star rating is because a kid was crying at the table next to ours and the manager (or owner?) stopped by with a bowl of strawberries in an attempt to cheer him up. Sunset Grill is my most favourite breakfast place to go to and this location did not disappoint! I usually order the big pancake breakfast with sausage/ bacon and scrambled eggs but this time, I went with the smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel; delicious! My husband ordered eggs and sausage/ bacon. Everything tasted great from the coffee to the food. The hostess was super friendly and even though there was a huge line up, she handled it like a champ. She walked up and down the line to make sure she got our names and put us on a waiting list. Even when one customer marched up to her and demanded a table (they had put their name on the list but walked away from the line up), she was respectful and handled the situation really well. I love seeing places that hire employees who know how to handled customers. Before I even got in the doors, this place was a 5 star from me. The restaurant was super busy and packed but they did their best to accommodate my baby and stroller. The service was fast and the ambience was friendly and positive. Food was A+! We went there last September with a couple of friends. In total 4 adults and a 15-month toddler. I can't remember what our friends ordered, but my husband had the "Protein Breakfast" (Steak and three eggs served with house salad) for $14.99 and I got the "Grilled Chicken Breast with Three Eggs" (Served with home fries and thick toast & jam) for $10.49. We also ordered a side of tomatoes for $2.49 for the kiddo and had an orange juice for $2.79 and a coffee for $1.99. The food was pretty decent, except for my home fries.. those were pretty soggy and bit too oily.. so I left a lot of those on my plate. But the eggs combined with the chicken breast and also the toast were certainly worth the money. I wasn't a big fan of the coffee, but apparently the orange juice was OK. The service was good. It is important, in my humble opinion to view this place in the context of places to do brunch in Blue Mountain. First off this place is busy! Super busy!! Despite that we had a 15 minute wait and once we were seated our server wa on the ball and we got our food and drinks quickly! We were not rushed either which was fantastic. I ordered the Super breakfast with pancakes and as if that is not calorific enough lets add chocolate chips to those pancakes...oh boy!!!! Do it...you will not be disappointed but you might be rolling down the slopes as opposed to sliding gracefully. Bacon was crispy...pancakes fluffy and light. Like eating sweet little clouds...that were studded with chocolate and then drowned in syrup! Certainly one the good brunch spots in blue mountain. You are mildly tired from those double black diamond hills, and all you know right now is that you are hungry. You're about to google maps the closest breakfast place to your hotel. You expect to have to walk all the way to the far parking lot then drive for a couple exhausting miles. BOOM! There's a Sunset Grill waiting for you a 2 minute walk away from your hotel. Thats right, Sunset Grill is located right in the Blue mountains village. The meal I'm writing this review on is the sausage and eggs meal. This meal comes with toast, orange slices, home fries, sausage and eggs. The sausage is your standard sausage which always tastes good, no matter which breakfast place you go to. Same with the toast and obviously the orange slices. The home fries were baked very nicely. Usually, one would get bored of eating home fries that take up the majority of your plate but in this case, I would be happy to eat an entire plate of home fries alone. Moreover, the eggs I chose were over easy. Usually, breakfast places tend to overcook the yolk to where it solidifies a touch, which means there's less delicious runny yolk. But here, the eggs were cooked to where the yolks were perfectly intact and the whites were cooked jus how I like. The service was good and the vibes were also decent. Visiting from Toronto with a group of friends (7) and on the last day decided to get breakfast at sunset grill and as soon as we walked through the door we got poor service. The hostess was giving attitude because she said 7 of us couldn't be at table which wasn't an issue she asked some of us to stay outside and then got us another table. She asked us to keep our masks on at the table until our drinks came I had been wearing glasses that got fogged up and when I tried to take them off my mask had come off and I was putting it back on right away although she was already ready to say something and said I said to keep the masks on until drinks come and I had said yes but i had to take my glasses off and she cut me off and started talking under her breath. The Sunset Grill is one of the better choices for breakfast fare in the Blue Mountain Village. We got up on a Saturday and were surprised to find that almost all of the restaurants in the Village were closed, even as late as 10am. So we made our way to the Sunset, which was open, and being so, was packed. The food and service is probably best described as diner-type in terms of decor, service, selection & quality - and I don't mean that to be a put down, just the best way to describe it. The overall experience was nothing special and nothing wrong either. (They did have a pretty exceptional collection of salt and pepper shakers however- and importantly, good coffee.) The folks in the nearby area recommended this for breakfast. We went in around 9.30 am on a Sunday morning and it was quite crowded. Expect a 10 minute wait time which can be frustrating on a lazy Sunday afternoon - the owner and the staff are petty enthusiastic and friendly and try their best to accommodate. The place serves good pancakes and eggs. I tried the veggie omelette and it was petty good. I love the fact that they have all offerings in egg white. The Hot Chocolate is also pretty good. We had 1 vegan in our group of 13 who could not eat most of the food available at sunset grill. Owner was unaccomodating and did not allow her to bring in her own food even when 12 people were willing to pay for food here. He also notified us of this fact in a rude dismissive manner which made the matter worse. "You should all just leave if someone is bringing outside food" We are a multi cultural group as well. Pretty similar to any other sunset grill location. Not as much seating but does have a small outdoor patio. Was seated quickly by the waitstaff and food was also served quickly. First of all I want to say that I never understood why this restaurant is called SUNSET Grill...shouldn't it be SUNRISE. Maybe I'm not clever enough and I'm missing something. This like so many other Sunset Grills that I have been too had the look of potentially being a great spot for breakfast, but like so many other times the food was just awful. Too much food with little quality. Hash browns are terrible. Eggs were cooked fine, but how can you make a mistake with eggs over easy. Save your money and never go to a sunset grill again. Its all quantity over quality. I heard a guy next to me complain that his chicken was rubbery like it had been microwaved. Went in on Tuesday for breakfast. place was really busy as they were having a pancakes for cancer event. There was no wait we were seated immediately and promptly served which as good as it got. my wife ordered a milk and a water and i ordered a coffee and a water. neither of us got our waters. I ordered sausages and eggs with home fries and my wife got the eggs benedict. eggs were the only thing that was good. The sausages were under cooked and spongy and the home fries were bland and there was a bunch of burnt end piece, same as my wifes home fries. I ordered a pancake so i could give to the cancer cause and it was ok seemed like packaged batter. nothing special. Now the worst part. We sat there for 10 minutes with dirty plates and no drinks and our waitress wpas nowhere to be found. she finally showed up and we asked for our bill which took another 5 minutes. we paid and left. wouldnt go back to this location. So my family and I decided to take a ski vacation to the Blue Mountains over Family Day weekend, or if you are from the United States, presidents Day weekend. My son was turning 21 and we had a fabulous vacation. His birthday oh, we decided to eat here at the Sunset Grill for breakfast after skiing early that morning, and before we left to go home to Detroit. We always have a little trepidation picking a restaurant that's affiliated with a resort because of pricing and being crowded. However, the Sunset Grill was fantastic!!! I agree with a lot of the reviews that the menu is your basic breakfast type menu. However there's more to a restaurant than a menu. The atmosphere in the sunset grill is awesome! Everybody Is happy and attentive to what you need. Once they found out that my son was turning 21, they brought over a heart shaped pancake with a candle and sang happy birthday to him!!! I had the western omelette along with the home fries and it was fantastic. The bread you get along with these types of orders is thick with a reasonable amount of butter on it and very tasty. I don't think the bread was homemade, but wherever they got it from it was delicious. My wife had the blueberry pancakes and they were loaded with big fresh blueberries and also fantastic. The atmosphere in the restaurant is happy and the decor is very kitschy with a lot of salt and pepper shakers that they collect and coffee cups that are unique as well. It was crowded, and a little pricey but it was well worth the wait and the price. I can't wait to come back here next year. The owner was very unprofessional and rude! During a busy time we were told that the wait would be about 10 minutes. I get it that the hostess can't be completely sure of the time she estimates. However, after 30 minutes we asked again if we were close to being seated. She had just sat a table for 2 in a table for 4, so, when the only table that came up was a 6 top, we suggested that maybe she could seat our group of 4 there. The owner then butt in to the conversation. He was red faced and clearly looked aggravated. He was rude and stated that we "should encourage the hostess to seat tables properly and not to the way we wanted". He said it two or three times. We were not arguing and were a little taken a back by him. We were then seated at a table for 4 that came up. We said nothing to the owner, but he proceeded to show up at our table to say "I don't tell you how to do your job, don't tell me how to do mine". Wow! He clearly didn't have the ability to leave things alone and was just looking to be a jerk. He isn't short of business due to the lack of breakfast places in the village, but, with his customer service sense, he doesn't deserve a good rating. read more
