This place has so much history and def a great spot for hungry travellers en route or back from Blue Mountain. We came here for late brunch and was pleasantly surprised to see the eclectic vintage decor throughout the restaurant. We ordered the special prime beef poutine ($12.99 I believe) and the 3 egg omelette ($9.99 plus $1.00 for additional ingredients added to omelette). Both were delicious and of decent portions. The prime beef was juicy and complimented the cheesy poutine! The egg omelette was also very freshly made and I added the extra ingredients of mushroom, green pepper, and tomatoes. The only difference between the omelette platter and the 3 egg omelette was the meat. But since I figured the 3 egg omelette was already going to be enough for me, I didn't choose the platter. If you're starving for food, I would choose the omelette platter. The toast came in 3 bread types: white, brown, and rye. I picked the brown one and it came buttered. They also provided a generous supply of strawberry jam, smooth peanut butter, and maple syrup. I added peanut butter to my toast and it made the bread texture more rich and creamy, yum! Service was super attentive. The staff actually looked happy to be there which brightened up my experience even more. There were plenty of seats in the restaurant that one could even throw a bday celebration! The washrooms were the cleanest I've seen in the area and I loved the vintage photos they had hung throughout the store. Parking was plentiful on the side of the restaurant. Will def return in my next trip up north!

Had the club. It was great and did the trick for a quick lunch while on the road at work. Would recommend

It's always a pleasure to come here. The staff are wonderful. It's like coming home- but with ghost stories! Haven't had a bad meal yet.

There is only one sitting in this 30 seat restaurant - starting at 7pm - everyone arrives at the same time to a very warm welcome from the staff and the charming Nobuyo (Mrs Stadtlander). Haisai is licensed - so no need to worry about what wine to bring to pair with the food. The wine is local Ontario wine - which always surprises me how good it can be. You can buy by the glass or half bottle but they don't specifically pair the wine with the 10 course tasting menu. The wines that Nobuyo recommended were excellent. The food was very good - especially for winter - we were expecting potatoes and pulses since they apparently use only local food - however there were a couple of seafood (no sea close to this part of Ontario) dishes and there was good variety. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very nice - the people were very happy to be there and there was a happy buzz in the place. The decoration of the dining room was "interesting" - embedded in the walls (near us) were an old clutch plate and parts of meat grinding equipment, tree branches and animal horns - a bit like a cave decorated with whatever was lying around - albeit a comfortable cave. Was it the best meal I ever ate? - no but all in all it was an experience I wouldn't have missed.

Inside, one may order food and buy some knick knacks that are bohemian chic. There is also a clean washroom for one to use. I ordered a super bowl which was $17. The size was great, but I felt it lack some flavour and half the bowl was filled with quinoa. Not a big fan of it, I would have liked less quinoa. My partner had a veggie burger and he liked it. There was a spice kick to it. He wished it came with a side instead of paying additional for it. The following morning we returned to try their açai bowl for breakfast and it was delicious!! Frozen blueberries were provided instead of fresh berries. They could have used seasonal fruits. The crisp coconut pieces added a crunch to each bite. This dish, I would order again. They have a reward system if you sign up. Overall, a nice healthy place to stop by while one is up North enjoying some sports or a little get-away.
