It was my first time at the Pottery Restaurant. I went in for the 105 two can dine, but when the waiter showed up, I learned that THAT particular order was no eligible for 10-15% off for pass holders. Better fine print indication should be done or just a central unification of the advertised items. The fondue was limited, odds and ends, not abundant but enough to distract you- no white wine in fondue. One person ordered the pasta and the other ordered the chicken schnitzel. The pasta seemed like odds and ends scrap pasta- never had that and nor am I Italian food smart to know what it was. The chicken schnitzel seems to be a chicken breast breaded- it wasn't hammered it was odd. Served with a gravy with mushroom and sides of picked items and a breakfast hash? The dessert was a vegan option chocolate cake or Black Forest, but it seems they just served chocolate fudge and put the cherry on top to name it Black Forest . Comes with unlimited coffee and tea with dessert. Service was slow because it's early season December when they are staffing in the new seasonal employees so 1 key person was leading while others were being trained by the key person- this overall impacting the service quality. read more

This was a lovely dinner! We arrived for an 8pm reservation on a Saturday after a February day in Blue Mountain. Our table was ready within minutes, and we were seated promptly. Our server was hilarious, and added even character to the chalet feel restaurant. I had the goulash - it was fantastic. Nice contemporary decor (a bit of modern fixes, but still that exposed beam lodgey feel) with a real fireplace. Went for breakfast and got their kaiserschmarrn (broken pancakes with fruit, and topped with ice cream). It was worth trying. The pancakes are fluffy with one side crispy. I prefer my pancakes more crispy, but I may be an outlier. Everything else on it is good. Service is great. The little details are all covered. I ordered tea and it came back as an orange pekoe, and milk already on the side. Syrup came well before the pancakes, so server is on top of things. read more

Disclaimer - The Pottery Restaurant serves Eastern European food, for which I don't have a good reference, so I could only speak from personal preception. We visited on a weekday evening. We ordered a prix fixe menu for one (Beet Salad, Seared Scallop Risotto, Phyllo Wrapped Cheesecake, coffee) and one Mountain Spatzle entree to share. My perception was the food tasted good, the portion was good, and the overall value, as in food quality-portion-price ratio, was great. I thought our way of ordering provided the best bang for the buck for 2 people. The services was top notched. Our sole waitress looked after the whole restaurants of 5 tables, and she didn't miss a beat. She was chatty, a good conversationist, high energy, effective and efficient. We ordered the cheese fondue (vegetarian version- no meat) and a kids' spatzle with cheese and the eggplant schnitzel and the chocolate fondue. The cheese fondue was DELICIOUS! It was rich and creamy. We loved dipping the apple and cauliflower into it and also the pretzel. The eggplant schnitzel was excellent especially with the mushroom gravy on the side! The kids cheese spatzle was very flavorful. The chocolate fondue was decadent. The fruit could have looked a little bit fresher when presented on the board and the marshmallows could have been bigger (instead of mini marshmallows) for dipping into the fondue. It was a huge hit in my family. The service was good and helpful. Our waitress answered all of the questions that we had. We went on boxing day so the service was a little bit slow but that was okay. I think I ordered a chicken clubhouse from here. Though it's a fairly basic item, they did a great job of seasoning the chicken - which was also cooked at the right level, and it was a very good fresh bun, served with fresh-cut fries. They had at least a couple vegan options as one of the members of our group one. They also have a couple "power salads", which another person ordered and looked very good and fresh. The exterior doesn't give the interior justice, as it has a very cute, countryside feel. My fiancé and I came here for a quick brunch after staying a night in the area on a whim. Service was decent, nothing special. my tea wasn't ever filled and our server passed by once or twice just to take our order and check to see how we were doing then completely disappeared after. I got the eggs benedict, my fiancé got the braised beef. His looked and tasted good, my dish was underwhelming and under seasoned, but did the job. Portions were a good size and filling enough. We have had dinner here a few times and decided, upon the recommendation of a friend to try the breakfast this morning. The restaurant is fairly large and set around a fireplace so there is a lot of privacy. There are a lot of booth options for family dining which is great! The staff is efficient and welcoming. Our waitress today was incredible! My husband had the farmer's breakfast and I had the Feta and Pesto omelette. Both were served with home fries (delish) and toast of your choice. Peanut butter and jam available upon request. I would ask for my omelette to be cooked a couple of minutes less but otherwise a good meal with great service. The coffee alone is worth the visit! Starbucks (I think blonde but not sure). It's a perfect accompaniment to the meal and the fresh fruit bowl is soooooo good! On a side note, they have added some simple meals to their dinner options and have weekday specials. May end up there for breakfast again before we leave on Monday. read more

We had a dinner voucher for this place as part of the spa package that we booked at Blue Mountains, so we had to try it out! They accommodated us even though we were a little late for our already late night dinner reservation; this was much appreciated. The dining room is low-lit and nice enough though it looks a little dated; it's probably more impressive when the fireplace is lit and there are people there. Service was prompt and attentive, and after seem fresh bread to start our meal, the food also came out relatively quickly which was nice! I ordered the Artisan Garlic and Black Pepper Linguine, to which I added a few grilled shrimps -- it was amazing. Probably one of the lightest and most flavourful linguine dish I have ever had! Though fair warning, it definitely still fills you up. The shrimp were a really nice addition, but not entirely necessary, which also makes it a great option if you are a vegetarian. I ordered a glass of Megalomaniac's 'trailblazer' white wine as well, which was a perfect accompaniment to my meal. read more

The food was good nothing to complain about, breakfast food is breakfast food. It's amazing to me that so many establishments in the popular tourist destination of Blue Mountain seem to struggle with the foundations of good business. You know the basics like quality food, good customer service and a good old fashioned "the customer is always right" mentality. I kinda assumed that when our group of 13 friends made reservations at one of Blue Mountains oldest and original restaurants that longevity and history would pay off and we would have a dining experience superior to anything provided in "the Village" proper. I've never been more wrong. With reservations made for 8:45 PM, we arrived a few minutes early and were thankfully seated right away. We had booked here for their Loving Winter Prix Fixe menu that was available at a cost of $35/person. Our server Jara was the one bright spot in an otherwise forgettable evening. This Czech Rep transplant who was in Canada studying Wine to become a Sommelier, was thorough, friendly and unfortunately made to apologize and make concessions for his kitchens poor performance on numerous occasions. We all felt bad for him that such a great server was working here - his talents and professionalism are being wasted here. The Loving Winter menu came with 3 appetizer choices, 4 main course options and 2 desserts to choose from. Given the choice of stuffed mushroom caps (with crab), A Spinach salad and shrimp cocktail I went with the Salad for my appetizer. It was the best part of the meal. For the main we had the choice between a Salmon dish, a stuffed chicken breast a beef tenderloin and a sweet potato gnocchi. 80% of our group ordered the tenderloin and 100% of that group was disappointed. Several peoples meals were freezing cold while one of our party ordered his tenderloin well done and was given meal so burnt it resembled charcoal. Jara was apologetic and did his best to tend to the issues but they numbered to great. Hard to understand how a prix fixe menu took nearly 3 hours to serve. I assumed that many of the items are pre-made but forsome reason we had a 45 minute to 1 hour wait in between courses. Our group had plans to go out afterwards but our experience at The Pottery was so awful that most of us ended up just wanting to go home as this meal put a damper on our entire mood. I won't be returning and my suggestion is you choose another location in the village when staying at/visiting Blue Mountain. read more

Ambiance and service are two strong reasons to dine at the Pottery, unfortunately the food wasn't one of them. The flavors themselves were satisfying but the preparation was off. My risotto was over cooked, lamb shank bathed in salt and my wife's pork belly while crisp on the outside was hard inside rather than moist. My sons kids meal, a generous portion of steak and fries was good. Always appreciate when restaurants have a kids menu with real food rather than only fried chicken fingers. For the service, ambiance and flavors I'd give 3 stars but the preparation was disappointing. read more

We were there for dinner last night. The server was great: attentive and friendly. This was about the fourth time we have eaten here and this time the food was the best we've had although still mediocre. I had the lamb chops off the menu which were good but the vegetables were prepared in an unusual way , very greasy and just weird. Also it was supposed to come with apple mint chutney but didn't. One of the other guests at our table ordered the lamb chop special and the waiter assured him that they were lamb chops like the ones on the menu but with couscous and feta. When he got his meal he got lamb shank. Probably won't try this place again read more

My family and I are having a kids honeymoon in Blue Mountain this week. We are staying at the Blue Mountain Inn and went to breakfast there this morning. We arrived around 10:00am and the restaurant was very busy. Our family decided to dine off the menu instead of the buffet. The service was very slow, but our waitress was very nice. We didn't get our food until around 10:45am. Our kids had the Belgian waffle and red velvet pancakes. We were expecting red pancakes similar to a red velvet cupcake. They were vanilla pancakes that didn't have any resemblance to anything red velvet. My husband had the banana bread stuffed French toast and I had a custom omelette. The food was good and the restaurant was convenient because it was in our hotel. When we were finished breakfast, I asked the waitress for the bill. She said there is no bill. At first I was confused, was she going to bring me a machine?! She said that she spoke with the manager and because we waited so long, they took care of it. My husband and I were very impressed how this was handled and this is how restaurants should cater to their clientele. read more

Came here for a birthday celebration and left full, satisfied and happy! I made the reservations on the Open Table app. I was able to reschedule our dinner to an earlier available time as well but it was fairly quiet that night and there was plenty of space. I had even requested a table by the "fire pit". First things first, our server was amazing and helpful. She came ready with water and the daily specials so we could think about the specials while perusing the menu. Needless to say, I ordered the daily soup which was Potato and Leek and then the New York striploin and my partner order the French Onion Soup and the daily main which was a local steak with baked potato, whisky apples and cabbage. The Potato and Leek soup was incredibly creamy and delicious. There was a hint of spiciness but all the flavors tied together well. I thoroughly and enjoyed it and was basically scraping every bit out of the bowl. I could have definitely jumped onto seconds if I hadn't ordered a steak for dinner. The New York steak was good overall. It was cooked perfectly and everything on the plate was good. It was your average steak but truth be told, the star for me was the soup. The French Onion soup was delectable and cheesy. Overall, it was good. However, the star of this dinner was the daily main!! The whisky apples were crunchy and delicious. They were definitely the highlight of the dish but the baked potato was yummy as was the steak. Despite being a local, I had never been before but my friend invited me out for dinner and I wanted to try it out. It's a bit of a challenge to find this place as it's hidden at the back of a parking lot behind a hotel. It's also attached to the hotel and a bit hard to find the actual entrance. The restaurant itself does not have bathrooms, they are housed outside of the restaurant which I found a bit weird. The menu isn't quite extensive but what is on there looks delicious. The prices are high which is to be expected since this is a tourist resort and people from the GTA would be all too happy to pay these prices I'm sure. My friend and I had an appetizer followed by our entrees. I had the salmon while she had a burger. The portions were great and very filling. Our server was attentive but seemed a bit nervous too. There was another server who got pissed at a family of 8 from out of town who made them rearrange tables so they could sit together only for the family to sit down with their children and THEN check the menu. When they realized it wasn't really a kid friendly menu, they left. The server's reaction to that was hilarious which is why I gave this place 4 stars. I feel sorry for the servers as she indicated this is a regular occurrence and it's a waste of time for them. They probably put up with a lot in this line of work and in this location. My hear goes out to them. Overall, not a bad place to eat but I would probably only return for a special occasion and not when it's ski season. read more

Came here for breakfast on a Sunday - the hostess looked at me and told me to wait for a minute while she walked into the kitchen. I was a little curious of why I was waiting at she could've seated us (half of the establishment was empty) and let us at the buffet. A little bit away from the rest of blue mountain village this is a nice restaurant located inside one of the hotels/inns. Their menu doesn't have a whole lot of choices but they have a few good menu options for lunch including burgers, sandwiches and tacos. I went for a panini with smoked turkey, peameal bacon, and chicken. They give you a lot of the meat toppings which was good, but I found the garlic mayo to be a bit overpowering. I've been eating here for 20 years and have usually had good experiences, but last night, even though the place was not full, my female friend and I waited over 20 minutes after being seated before we were even acknowledged, 5 more minutes for water, and another 5 for wine. So we're 30 minutes in to sitting at the table. Fantastic food and service! Our server was an absolute delight!! She made our evening even more special with her friendly and pleasant attitude. She even gave us a surprise at the end of our dinner. My husband and I spent a weekend at Blue and were pleasantly surprised by the excellent service and menu options at the Pottery. Reading the reviews I was hesitant to reserve our anniversary dinner at this restaurant located in the hotel at Blue Mountain. Boy was I glad we did. The atmosphere is cool rustic &chic. Location is perfect as we didn't have to drive or walk far so the wine could flow. And the wine list is well thought out and included a couple of our faves as well as a new favourite was made known to us by our server. Boomtown. Loved it. The serving staff were super accommodating and attentive. She knew the menu and offered suggestions. My husband had the chefs feature( the halibut with spicy potato croquette and Mango salsa) I had the Chicken Roulade. I would recommend both. Dinners were freshly prepared and seasoned to perfection. We returned for breakfast and my husband had an amped up eggs Benedict while I had the buffet. The buffet had an assortment of pastries, fresh fruit, eggs ,bacon... delightful.
