Their menu is outdated they had more offerings than what their menu signage says. I have to say, I was really excited when I arrived, but I came over for donuts. The two ladies at the register in the kitchen appeared to be quite disorganized and all over the place, as if they had never dealt with customers before. I placed my order, and she repeated it back to me twice. I ordered my sandwich before the next customer, yet somehow, the next customer received their sandwich before I did, which was quite confusing. The new lady at the register had to tell the other lady to make my sandwich which should repeated twice on different occasions. To make matters worse, their credit card machine was out of order and they requested cash instead. Fortunately, I had some cash on hand. The chicken banh mi seemed like it had been microwaved, which was disappointing, although the presentation looked decent and the taste was okay. I've had worse experiences, but my main issues were with the two ladies working in the back and at the register who were preparing the food. Been coming here for years and u feel like ownership has changed. They have a great selection for the most part. No gloves and yet they're grabbing food and donuts and then at the cash register handling money and change. Customers service could stand to use some help too. Giving two stars to be generous. This has been mine and my family's go-to donut spot since I was 3-years-old and my mom worked next door at Rite-Aid. They remained great until selling to new owners. Now, every time I order online for my donuts to be delivered, the flavors are always wrong. They allow you to check which flavors you want of which specific donut yet that is never what's delivered to me. This morning, I ordered a maple buttermilk bar, but received a plain one and maybe that sounds a little petty, but I've been sick all week and this is what I've been craving so I'm irritated. Aside from today there has been four separate occasions where I ordered a fancy dozen specifically put in the instructions which donuts I wanted and received none of what I asked for. I would understand if I was ordering late in the morning and options were limited--but I order early. Also, if something is out, note that somewhere? Don't just send whatever you want, especially when it's not even close to what I ordered. At this point, it's getting old. I first started visiting Sunset Donuts when my family and I moved to the area when I was about 8 years old. Over 25 years later, I still stop by Sunset Donuts whenever I'm in the area and craving GOOD donuts. Since my husband isn't from the area and has never tried their donuts, we decided to pick some up today for him to try. We went around 1pm, so there wasn't a huge selection to choose from; however, they still had some of our favs. Needless to say, he really likes their donuts! Their donuts have been consistently delicious over the many years that I've been having them. Customer service is still great. Staff are friendly and helpful, which is always appreciated. I did note that their hours have changed compared to the ones currently listed on Yelp. So please be aware that the store closes at 5pm during the week & on Saturday. This shop has unfortunately gone downhill since the change in ownership. During my visit, the shop was empty, and it took a few minutes before an employee came to the counter. When she did, there was no greeting or acknowledgment,just silence. I attempted to break the ice with a friendly "Hi, how are you?" but got no response. I ordered donut holes, and the only interaction was a curt "Cash or card?" The lack of basic customer service made the experience feel very uncomfortable and unwelcoming. What's frustrating is that this used to be one of my favorite donut spots in Fairfield/Suisun. It was a reliable place with great service, but that's no longer the case. Donuts taste great, but the facility needs to be cleaned. It's disgusting if you look around while you're waiting for your food, it's not clean at all. I saw lady pull out a cutting board that had black stuff on it property black mold all over the cutting board. That's your food. Being placed on there. Same with the refrigerator the refrigerator you can tell that the food is not being stored properly still in bags instead of stored properly with name and dates. I'm really surprised someone has not gotten sick. From this place The place needs some TLC, some cleaning with lots of bleach and degreaser. Even when you walk in, you can fill and see the grease on the floor. I'm noticing a trend this seems to be very typical for Northern California. Got to this location about 730 this morning. Let me Telya it was already crowded inside. Very limited space. But also seems to be very popular. Various options on what you can get from here anywhere from ice cream, to donuts, two croissants coffee and shakes. My first time here so I decided to go with the ham and cheese croissant and an old fashion chocolate peanut doughnut. I want a little bit of salty sweet and savory this morning lol. While I was standing in line I also noticed that the location offers DoorDash as there was a door dash driver there waiting to pick up a dozen of donuts. Please close this place down; we already have Starbucks right across the way, that has the same, and better tasting food and drink items. When I went, one of the two employees was a young woman, with an attitude when we said we needed our receipts printed out . It's too small /cramped to exist; people in wheelchairs can't comfortably fit inside. When the weather's bad and other customers come in, it's hard on the disabled to try and decided how to proceed with their food items. This is an update. The place has new ownership. The donuts are good but the service isn't and the prices are ridiculous. I guess donuts are expensive now... WHY??? I use to brag about the chocolate old fashion donuts around the corner from my house but since the change in ownership the donuts are different. The old fashion donuts I loved are not the same. I love this places donuts and coffee. The staff is friendly. But I for the world's saddest breakfast bagel the other morning. A single tiny and kinda cold sausage patty for a fairly large bagel, which was barely toasted. It was toasted for long enough to make it warm, but sat there for a minute and cooled back down. The egg was bland and the cheese did not melt at all. All for the high price of $6.75 I guess I'm going to stick to their donuts and coffee as an occasional treat. I visit this location once a month since it's conveniently on my way to work. While the donuts are decent, the customer service leaves much to be desired. The staff is "okay." I often just want a quick in-and-out experience during my morning rush. Today, I asked for half of a regular dozen donuts, but they grabbed the dozen box. I clarified that I wanted "half a dozen," and while the lady swapped the boxes, I noticed she began speaking in Spanish about me to another staff member. To make matters worse, she placed a donut I didn't ask for into the box. I didn't say anything, as I was just trying to move on with my day. Then, I requested a dozen donut holes, but only received half. The bag they gave me was ripped at the bottom, making them unsanitary. I had to throw them away because I wasn't comfortable giving them to my kids. I'm honestly very disappointed with my experience today. I don't know if I want to return any time soon. OMG!! FINALLY!!! I have stopped by this donut shop several dozen times or more throughout the years, at various hours of the day. I use to meet up with some friends at the Starbucks on the corner and my parents use to live in the neighborhood, so I frequented the area. But every time I stopped by, they were closed!! No exaggeration! I have come early in the morning, I have come on different days of the week, I have stopped through on the weekends, I have even passed by afternoon and early evenings and they have always been closed. I was beginning to think that this shop was just a ruse! Finally, one day, in November of 2020, I finally caught them open late afternoon. I was in shock! I wasn't even craving a doughnut, but I felt I had to stop in and get one because the place was actually open! I had been trying to to check out this doughnut shop for over a couple of years!! I went in, I ordered a Bavarian Cream filled chocolate doughnut. I didn't even wait to eat it. I stood there after purchasing it and took a bite. It was sooooo yummy!! It was soft, fluffy, creamy and fresh tasting, even though it was already after 3:00pm. I got so excited that I decided I had to take a few home with me. I then picked up an Apple Fritter, a Bear Claw, and a Glazed Blueberry to go. This shop was a little more on the pricier side than my regular doughnut shop in Vallejo, but well worth the few extra coins.
