Whenever I host a meeting, my associates almost always request Donut Wheel over other donut shops in the area, and it's easy to see why. It's very small, and depending on the time of day, it can be difficult to find a space or even get back out because of traffic. Giving this donut shop another try, when we passed by the area, stopped by to get a donut.. But when I saw the shelf was loaded with lots of attractive donuts, I wanna give it another try so we decided to get a dozen.. The mother/owner was very nice and friendly, even gave us discount and freebies.. Their Card machine was not working that moment good thing we had cash on hand.. We bought extras for the homeless guys outside.. Soon as we drove off, I couldnt help myself but dive into the Chocolate Boston Creme/Bavarian.. Was so soft creamy and very fresh.. Read the reviews and decided to give them a try because I love doughnuts especially chocolate raised doughnuts. We went in the afternoon and thought it might be a mistake due to most donut shops being sold out or having a limited variety but that wasn't the case. We walked in and not only saw a wide variety but the smell of freshly baked doughnuts permeated the shop. We ordered a chocolate raised doughnut which was pillowy, soft, and delicious. We also ordered a chocolate covered buttermilk which was hot, fresh, and fantastic. The owner also gave us a free buttermilk that was freshly made. The shop is clean with a cool old school vibe. Just a heads up, make sure to bring some cash with you to pay, if you pay with a card, you'll get charged 0.99 cents and their machine is a bit slow, so you'll have to wait for the transaction to be approved. Refreshing to have a donut/snack shop that's open in the late evening! For some reason, I don't crave donuts in the morning but I DO think about them when the sun goes down. Decided to stop in on an impulse as I was out running errands. It was definitely a good impulse. I wish I had gotten the name of the gentleman behind the counter, but he is a gem! He takes very good care of his customers, which is just one more reason to stop by, because the donuts themselves are very good: they almost melt in your mouth. Flavors tried: old-fashioned, chocolate cake w/ chocolate icing and sprinkles, glazed, and maple. I think the cake donut was my favorite, only because it was the perfect texture to me -- and normally chocolate would not be my first choice. It was soft and moist and almost slightly airy, whereas cake donuts tend to be a bit denser and drier. This one was lovely. read more

This a small shop on north Texas street owners basically running it by himself his mom helps also. Went in today to grab a doughnut and some donut holes. He was cooking a new batch of buttermilk donuts for some party or something and told us he had been working long hours after we ordered he asked us to wait and he gave us one of the fresh buttermilk doughnuts donuts. Came by around 4:30PM on a Thursday because I was craving a good ol' donut. Parking lot was empty, but it looks like most of the customers come in on foot. I waited a bit due to the people in front of me having to wait for their credit card to finish processing. I also had to wait a bit for my credit card to process. The guy working the counter was very friendly, and he called me endearing terms like "sister" and "honey," I didn't mind it, but be wary if you're uncomfortable from interactions like this. He was working at a relaxed pace and verified which items I wanted. I got two apple fritters, a dozen donut holes, one apple cinnamon (strudel?) and two maple old fashioned. I paid about $8. Even though it was the afternoon the donuts did not taste like they've been out for a while (except for the Apple cinnamon strudel thing, which was a bit hard). The donut holes were good, and the old fashioned was more on the crunchy side. Will report back on the apple fritter soon. Place was clean, but there were a few homeless people around the area. My only complaint - they dont use gloves or tongs so when packing some they were touching the donuts as the sheets they use were crumbled -there was 2 flys in the case where the donuts were being stored and served from . Found it funny that with the customers before me when they were paying the donuts were put on the counter in front of them but when I went to pay ( in work uniform& with child) mine were held behind the register to the side until my card cleared. Wow Donut Wheel has the BEST donuts in town for sure and the gentleman who owns the store is the sweetest guy and seems to put his heat and soul in his store. It is on North Texas so you may see some homeless near there due to it being in the main strip and close to a hotel but it's worth it to go and get your donuts here for sure! Stopped by to get donuts on a Saturday morning. The outside was littered with trash, but I wouldn't blame the owner for it, only because I know there's a large homeless population in the area, so I can imagine it would be difficult to keep up with. This place has some age to it for sure, but I can assure you it was very clean inside. In fact before I walked in, I saw a lady who I later found out is named, Mae, tidying up inside. Upon entering, I heard a "Welcome." We went in, thinking of ordering a half dozen, but the donuts all looks so good, we were talked into a full dozen very easily, lol. Mae was so sweet and had a smile on her face. I told her I would go back, just to see her. I recommend you all do, to. The donuts were very good and super fresh. Nice selection as I mentioned before.
