This is my favourite tanning studio in Vancouver! There are lots of bed/SU options and I believe they have some non-UV options. Pricing is the best I could find. They have other packages, aside from monthly and points/minutes. I love the option of Buy X, get Y free! This works best for my schedule and lifestyle. Sunscape is nice and clean. Their hours of operation are excellent and they take reservations, unlike other tanning shops I've encountered. I've been coming here, albeit sporadically, for 7 years. read more

I have been going to the Yaletown Sunscape for years and they are my favourite place to go for sunless tanning. The colour is great as is the coverage. For the price it is worth visiting this studio. I definitely recommend them for spray tans! read more

I had been very happy with this salon.. I have been using their monthly spray tan plan for the past 6 months or so and I had been happy with it. It's not cheap... I think $88 a month or so. I can no longer justify paying this price and I called in to cancel. I find it very upsetting that they refuse to allow me to cancel without paying an additional month. One should be allowed to cancel without paying almost $100 extra dollars. That is a terrible way to treat a customer that you have made so much money off of. I am very disappointed and will not be back! read more

First let me say.... There is one star because I could not leave a review without at least ticking off one. I bought a monthly package at the Yaletown Location because the prices were very reasonable. All I have to say is buyer beware! I have been using tanning salons on and off for over 10 years..... I am no stranger to a tanning salon however, never have I experienced what I did at Sunscape. I went, in total, 3 times in the first week and that was enough for me. Two out of the three times I went, the bed had not been cleaned/sanitzed well enough and had lotion residue on it from the previous tanner. The first time it happened I let it go, the second time I went I had no problem, the third time.... again, greasy film on the bed which I believe was the cause of a large, itchy rash down my back. While my main concern about this establishment is the cleanliness, I also found it difficult to call in to make an appointment. While their message machine encourages you to leave a message, they are often not listened to and/or calls are not returned. I wrote into Customer Service to advise them that after my week, and my experience, that I wanted to cancel my membership. The reply was this... **************************************** Sunscape Wrote: Very sorry to hear about these issues and thank-you for bringing it to my attention. I have followed up with our staff on both issues. We place the cleanliness in all areas of our salon as a top priority and have many procedures in place to ensure a bed is never anything but spotless. While this is normally the case, it appears something was overlooked during your session and I'm confident it won't be an issue again. With regards to the phone messages, it can be difficult to get through during this peak season, and when the salon is busy it may even take some time before staff have a chance to return calls. While I have followed up with this salon to ensure they are checking if frequently, it would also be advisable to try calling the morning when it is less busy for a better chance of getting through. I trust you will find things smoother going forward, but if you are still interested in cancelling your plan, that may be done anytime after May 1st, and with the 31 days notice required in your agreement that would make June your last month of membership. All cancellations must be done in store via completing a cancellation form - for privacy and security reasons we do not do them via email and/or telephone. Please enjoy your tanning and let me know if any additional issues. *************************************************** Now honestly..... after experiencing these issues with cleanliness and obtaining a rash that has lasted well over 6 days...... would I really take the chance that it won't happen again? As Sunscape Wrote: 'while cleanliness is normally the case, it appears something was overlooked during your session'. What shocked me most, on a Customer Service level was, as stated in their response letter, that they continue/expect me to pay the required extra month (30 day notice) before cancelling, regardless of the issue. Now that is.......Poor Customer Service at it's best. read more

I've been using their level 3 bed and I've never had an experience like this tanning where I found 4 long white stripes down my back. When I brought this to their attention they were defensive in making sure I knew their bulbs were new and that I need to constantly readjust positions if I want to avoid white stripes. So now this is my fault? I've never been warned that using a lay down bed I need to be moving around so I don't get white stripes nor have I ever had this issue tanning anywhere else before. If their beds give their customers white stripes down their body that are absolutely humiliating then that should be said when signing up for a membership. Or they should get new beds because that doesn't seem right to me. Hoping to cancel my membership now Update: thanks to the owner for replying. I replied stating how frustrated I was, how they should warn their customers of white stripes, and how I'd like to discuss my membership. As a member of a place, I feel I should trust them to warn me about potential issues, I'm paying for the service that they should be knowledgeable about correct? And the lack of genuine concern and trying to upsell her higher level beds which I'd have to pay extra to use just to fix something they didn't want me about. They were also totally fine explaining my membership and how I can quit anytime I want to. I'm sorry but doesn't it make sense to try to retain long term customers? I was so brushed off and dismissed, I wasn't treated as a person, I wasn't understood about my frustrations. The company is very defensive to not take accountability and instead explain how the beds are obviously going to prevent uv exposure in some places and I can see for myself. Who here can explain how tanning beds worked? Is it obvious which places on a tanning bed will prevent uv exposure to someone who has been an inconsistent tanner for only 4 months? Is that common knowledge. because I was made to feel like it was instead of simply recognizing that this should have been communicated and they made a mistake, or even trying to make it right for me. Sorry kelly, I know this is your business and you want to defend it and I get one customer won't make a difference to your team losing. But I regret signing up at this salon and I'll be looking for a new membership at a salon that won't leave stripes along my back (or at least mention that it's a potential warning) read more

BEWARE......this place is a total scam. I'm VERY disappointed with my experience dealing with this tanning salon. They utilize the extremely unethical business practice of making you sign up for an open-ended contract so there is no end date unless you cancel.....and then they make it nearly impossible to cancel. The same greasy tactic that some gyms still utilize. This salon tells you that you can only cancel it on a specific day....and at least a month in advance. They refuse to set a reminder that a client wants to cancel so the employees can do the cancellation themselves because they want to make it harder on the client so they forget and have to pay more money. So if you call them on the 2nd to cancel when they say it can only be on the 1st.....too bad so sad you now owe them for 2 more months. This slimy type of business practice is disgusting and predatory. Due to COVID-19 I have been out of work for many months and I didn't use the tanning salon's service for the past several months. Even though I didn't go, they continued charging me. I tried to cancel several times and they gave me the run around and made it extremely difficult. I haven't used their services in 6 months and they say I now owe them over $500 and I still can't cancel until next month!! I emailed them and explained my financial situation and they basically emailed me back saying they weren't going to do anything to try and help me out. Why? Because this is how they make their money. It's DISGUSTING!!!!!! read more

I have visited here a few times (when in town for business), and the staff has always been very professional. The beds are always clean and they have a great selection (of beds, lotions, and packages). While is does seem to be a little pricier, you pay for what you get. read more

Can you give 0/5? The staff are far from friendly and professional. I left my last tan with huge white stripe lines down my back and legs. When I returned into the store, the lady at the front desk told me to "move around more" in the bed, and that she had nothing further to say. She told me I could email head office to ask why the bed would have caused such awful lines on my body and, of course, head office never replies to emails. Very poor service, very poor tan, and not the cleanest beds. 0/5 read more

I just signed up for a year membership she took time going through and explaining all the packages. The staff I have encountered are very nice and helpful. I've tanned 3 times and already seeing results! Would absolutely recommend this location! read more

This place was the worst tanning place I've ever been to in my life. First off the front desk lady was super rude and didn't explain the prices properly and the prices are different from what the website said. Then told us that we had to buy 10$ goggles or a 1 $ stick on eye cones. Once in the tanning bed it didn't end up working. But once I came out the lady said that I couldn't go again even that it didn't work? The lady also didn't wipe the bed out properly. Oh and for new comers the lady didn't explain how the tanning bed even worked or what to do. read more

Worst tanning salon downtown by far, simple put, they are unorganized and rude. I've had several occasions where I've called in to book an appointment, arrived at the salon and my room was occupied. What is the point of calling ahead! I waited 20 mins before I was told "it'll only be another minute". The customer service is sub par for the amount of money you dish out. I suggest taking your hard earned money else where. read more

AVOID. Awful experience, full on scammers. There's a reason they have so many 1 star reviews from their own employees on indeed saying how unethical they are. I've been in touch with customer service for over a month to cancel my membership, they purposely prolong replying until it flips to a new month to charge you more. They charge you hidden fees if your credit card expires. No warning. No clarification. I couldn't even get a breakdown of the fees they charged me for weeks! No receipts. I found out about the rejection fees from a screenshot they finally sent me and when confronted they told me it's in the contract too bad should have read it. They will not show you anything until you demand, nor weave any fees to help. They want to scam you for your money and don't give a shit about customers. read more

Do not come here if you want a spray tan. Go to cocoa tanning 5 minutes away. I called at 1:30 and said I would be there between 1:45-2. I arrived at 1:45 and the receptionist tried to say that there was another girl who called after me who was going to go in before me. She said if she didn't show up before I was registered I could go in. Luckily the other girl didn't show up but I don't understand how someone who calls in after would have priority. They had no clean towels at all and were offering paper towels to their customers. Cocoa tanning always supplies an exfoliating towellete, lip balm, foot pads (so the bottoms of your feet don't turn orange), hair elastics etc. SunScape only provided the blending lotion and a hair net. Not even the foot pads!! My feet will be orange... I am never coming back here again. read more

My boyfriend and I frequent here more than the staff would probably like (my boyfriend thinks he's the worlds best comedian and God's gift to women lol) but they always are so friendly and helpful to us. The place is always clean and always busy but we never wait long. My man and I switch between the two level 5 beds and we love them! I'm already getting so dark and I'm just getting into my first month unlimited. Definitely recommend this place with a big thumbs up :) read more

Ive been going to this location for several years now and I absolutely love it! The staff are very welcoming and respond to your every need. The place is always clean and the waiting area is cozy. I mostly do spray tans in their Versa Pro but I've also tried all of the beds. Levels 3-5 are the best beds to use and you have the option of stand up or lay down. Hands down my favourite is the Versa Pro though. With many levels (1-4) and types of tans (clear developing and insta bronze), you will find the perfect colour for your skin. The Versa Pro also has other options such as double tan on legs, prep primer and post moisturizer to extend the life of your tan. This place is a must go for tanning lovers! read more

I guess my review won't be seen because it's conveniently not recommended for this business (although my other reviews are). Not only was my matter ever settled, my HONEST review on google+ received some serious snipe from the owner. Moreover, the owner Kelly Kerr is having fake reviews added in order to bolster his business' ratings. (you can see his own 5 star review on google+ if you think I'm fibbing!) I never want anyone to be hurt or bullied the way I was with this company. And I will not let up until they either A) settle this matter with me or B) start using ETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES for their other unsuspecting customers. You've been warned! My previous review: I never write reviews, but I have to warn everybody. AVOID THIS PLACE. I would give this place a 0 if I could. I wouldn't be surprised if some of these reviews are fake to boost their rating score. These guys are scammers and have zero customer service capability. I am engrossed in an ongoing dispute with this company that has continued to charge my credit card, although I had cancelled my membership. The girl helping me did not let me know that I apparently had not 'formally' cancelled my membership, and now I 'owe' sunscape almost $400.00 which they sent to collections. They blamed ME for not following the rules of the contract (which they never gave me a copy of until the dispute of the matter began, which isn't legal BTW). I'm sure their response to my review will be that they made 'numerous fair and reasonable attempts to settle' which essentially was for me to pay up for a membership that A) I thought I had cancelled and B) never used their services once since the time of my cancellation. Do yourself a favour and DO NOT GO THERE. They cannot be trusted and have zero regard for anything but collecting your money. Read some of the other reviews on here and know that I'm not the only one who has been scammed by this company. Also, If you're afraid of rodents, they had a bad mouse problem back while I was still tanning there. A mouse ran out of MY BOOT after I finished tanning. I let the girls there know, they were grossed out and said 'oh we thought we fixed the mouse problem! I'll let the manager know'. There was no sorry, not explanation or follow up. This should have been my clue to cancel then and there. I don't blame the staff however, I blame the company. Save yourself time, stress and money. If they are screwing you, complain to the BBB. If you want more info on this from me at any point, just ask. I have not exaggerated or left out any important parts on my end in regards to it somehow being my fault. Thank you. read more

I came in to cancel my membership. I was given the rundown on options I could take advantage of, all of which I declined. I was told that I would not be charged April 1st and have up until March 31st to tan. (I was there I believe on the 14th of March). I asked her to make sure that this was the case and she confirmed the above, twice before I agreed to sign. April 1 comes, and I am charged. I email customer service and am told that they apologize for MY misunderstanding & proceed to explain my options given when I was in to cancel. I respect their policy, but when a consumer is told one thing, and that the information relayed by staff was incorrect, and then I'm told I'm the one who misunderstood and at fault ... makes no sense. I was verbally explained options and that I was good to tan up to March 31st and then asked to sign a digital signature pad to confirm my understanding of what I was told. Which I did. Finding out after that what I was told was inconsistent with what I was actually signing. My review is not because I didn't receive a refund. My review is on the basis staff gave me incorrect information and instead of apologizing for the mistake on their end, they chose to tell me I'm at fault and that they're more than happy to offer me the original options. As a business owner myself, I get that mistakes happen. And when they do, I acknowledge them. Not blame the consumer for my error. Not everyone is out there for monetary gain. A simple apology goes a long way and sometimes is all it takes to settle an error made by staff. I suggest that anyone looking to do any business with them, to ask look at what you're signing. They are "paperless" so simply explaining to you verbally & signing a black digital pad, with nothing to actually see and read is clearly an unreliable practice with these guys. Any errors on their end simply are ignored and it's the customers fault for not knowing that the staff is giving out incorrect info. read more

Head-Office customer service is absolutely atrocious, incredibly rude and will shut you out by saying "I will no longer respond regarding this matter"! What kind establishment says this kind of thing to their members?!?!? They do not take responsibility for their associates lacking to provide the necessary policies and failing to send the proper agreements which states this. However the associates at the salon are very kind, and the beds are wonderful! I recently became a member and was sent an agreement which did NOT state their return/exchange policy on tanning lotions. I was sold a pretty expensive tanning lotion which once I placed on my skin had an awful pungent smell. I inquired with the associate the following day to exchange the product, she advised that head-office are the only ones who can make a decision on this matter and wrote them an email for me. I returned to the salon four days later and asked what their head-office said, she advised me they didn't answer and that I should email them myself, which I did, only to have them shove their policy in my face (the only one I didn't receive via email nor was informed verbally) advising me to give it to a friend or family member, and that they are willing to give me a 50% discount on another product, great - so now I have to spend more money due to their mistake and lack of do-diligence and be stuck with a product THEY sold me. Seems this salon is all about taking their members money but not at all willing to make them happy. I just signed up a week ago... I would strong advise against this tanning salon simply because of their unhelpful Head-Office team. read more

In March I purchased a 12 month membership "Level 5" package that included to high performance beds and the use of the rest of the UV beds. In July they introduced a new bed they removed 1 of 2 high performance beds exclusive to the package I purchased to make room for the new bed. Essentially they cut services that I had purchased 4 months earlier in half as the new bed would not be available to me. My membership cost $803 and after 4 months they no longer offered what I had purchased and with 8 months to go I feel like I got the short end of the deal. read more

Mystic Tan nightmare. This place got so many good reviews that I went there and came out all orange, streaky and uneven. The staff never mentioned that you should hold your breath or you'll end up breathing in all those toxic fumes - a crucial basic instruction that they never mentioned. Sunscape made me sign a 3 month agreement form for a beauty angel treatment, I used to tan their regularly and thought I would try it. If you like getting burnt, ripped off, and dealing with snobby staff, this is your place!! A junkie on hastings would have better tanning advice than the "trained experts" at Sunscape. I'm extremely pale, I can tan but it takes a long time. This is obvious when you look at me. My first time tanning they suggested I go for 10 minutes! I thought that was a little high, so she suggested 8, I figured 7 is more like it. (I had gone tanning for about 2 years several years ago and I started out at 5 minutes, and the highest I ever got to was 10 minutes after several months). I was still hesitant to go with 7, but I figured maybe the beds were different than the ones I used before. Nope, got incredibly burnt! I had to soak myself in aloe and tea, and only thanks to that did it diminish after a few days but it was still there if you looked close. They are also rather pricey for what you get. The rooms are ugly, bare, and don't even have a mirror. The first level bed you have to be careful to hold the top up when getting in and out because it falls down! And then there's the staff. All of them are snobby and look like they hate you or their jobs, or both. Clearly not knowledgeable, as explained by my burning situation, and just plain rude. When I asked why they charged per point instead of per minute, unlike some other salons, she rudely replied "That's the OLD way of doing things". Oh, you mean the honest way? And they were like that even just greeting me when I came in; rude, bored, and uninterested. The only pro for this place is that there's no time limit on how long you can get ready beforehand. Sometimes I feel rushed at places that only offer 3 or 4 minutes. That, however, is not worth ever going here for. I've since switched to Banana Tans and it was a great decision! I'd recommend Banana Tans any day over Sunscape. read more

This is the absolute worst tanning salon I have ever been to! I signed up for an expensive 12 month membership, and they have since then lowered their rates and refused to lower my monthly payment. The last tan I experienced at this location I was in the level 4 bed and as soon as I got into the bed and the fan started, I smelled this disgusting rotten smell and I had to get out. I looked below the fan and saw a used tampon on the floor that looks like it had been there for quite awhile.
