I telephoned the spa to inquire what was happening only to learn the phone's voice mail was full and I could not leave a message. Frustrating! So I went home and sent an email explaining what my experience had been and asking for an explanation, or an apology or something. To this day, no one has been back to me. This is absolutely terrible customer service. If there had been an emergency, I would understand if someone got back to me to explain but to hear nothing is just unacceptable. So I would recommend going elsewhere is you are looking for a facial in east Van.

This particular location is round the side of the TD Canada Trust Branch and ATM, if you're on Nelson walking towards Hamilton. For 2022, I ordered the Facialiscious Facial, which is a 75 minute client-focused facial complete with a skin assessment and rejuvenation, full body massage, and skin education so that you know how to continue maintaining the "skoah glow" that you will inevitable leave with. You receive a lip balm and a welcome note upon entering your room. I had the immense pleasure of being taken care of by Jessica McLay who was well-versed in all skin types, and especially darker skin tones. We had an invigorating conversation about AHAs and skin best practices which, coming from someone who knows NOTHING about skin care, was much appreciated. I especially loved her creative analogies as she explained why certain products were useful and critical to skin health. After my facial, she provided me with a hand-written note of all the things we discussed so that I can be empowered to experiment and figure out which would be best based on my skin's needs. I am making a point to list her name, because when I return (hopefully for my next birthday), I intend on booking my SKOAH facial with her. Speaking of birthdays, I received a 25% birthday discount which was also a nice touch to round off the high level of hospitality that I received. The icing on the cake was when my facial was completed on a hot sunny afternoon, they did not have any sunscreen to apply! My jaw dropped when she said "I dont have any sunscreen". I booked/had the power plane facial. I was expecting a proper dermaplaning, the whole process with the 1-min extraction(literally) was so quick, I almost forgot it happened. I could have done my facial at home. I am still stuck at No sunscreen!

Not a big deal, but if you are expecting complete privacy/quiet, you should not expect it. For myself, it didn't matter, and I still found myself feeling deeply relaxed. I thought the service was pretty good. They spend probably 15 minutes going over your treatment plan and explaining their process and products. Yes, you still get a full hour of treatment time. I found the angle of the reclining chair a bit uncomfortable on my neck at first, but the head scrub was soooooo relaxing, it didn't matter much lol. They were running their Boxing Day sale, so the treatment came to $225 including taxes, but regular price would have been $300 incl taxes. While my scalp felt fantastic and my hair felt squeaky clean, I am not sure that it is worth $225- $300 plus tip, unless you had money to burn. But if you do have money to burn, or want to give yourself or someone an extravagant treat, then go for it. I think that if I did this treatment regularly, my hair might improve from the increased circulation, but I am not entirely convinced that it is their specific products and techniques vs someone rubbing your head with any kind of lotions/serums/oils and washing it lovingly for an hour, lol. One final note: absolutely DO NOT book this before going out for an event, as you leave with hair that has zero product in it, and will be blown dry as if your dad did it for you. As in, efficiently, but with zero attention to styling. So book this when you are planning on going home and flopping on the couch, lol.
