My system has not worked correctly. They require a week diagnostic time time to evaluate the system at the end of the evaluation period, It was determined a technician would needed. The soon as a technician could come out would be one month. I have leased my solar through SunRun and apparently they want you to pay on time while not providing the service you pay for. We did not receive service that "went the extra mile" predictable of a great sales person, but I witnessed service that was beyond anything I have ever experienced in my 60 years. The base of this amazing care was in Representative Ro Pereiro. She is a gold star in humanity! But the service didn't stop there. After 6 years leasing Solar with SunRun and then the inverter suddenly dead. Here is come to crazy part. SunRun doesn't do services. BrightOps which third party doing service.. It took total a month and half to come after couple appointments attempted and now It's still NOT working. A third schedule in September 2025. I'm sick and tired with SunRun . Meantime billing continues asking for payments and not even mention about power loss or at least refund some of power not producing. I posted the below review a couple of weeks ago when the power went out and our system did not back up the way it was designed. Well, I reached out to them to identify their procedure for termination of the lease due to the failure of SunRun to live up to its contractual obligations. Their response, "Our contracts have no early termination clause." When I asked the follow up question of, "So, what you're saying is that I'll have to go through legal channels." The response I received was a very curt, "Yep, that's right." The truly amazing thing is that this guy lied. Their contract does have a clause for termination in the event of a material failure...which we have demonstrated, and then some. So, at the end of the day, I'll simply say this. If you are going to install solar, GO WITH ANYONE OTHER THAN SUNRUN. They are horrible and do not live up to their contracts. As for me, I'll just have to see them in court. I updated this review because our power is out again today and we have ZERO power. See the original review below. I'm absolutely exhausted with these folks. We've been a customer of theirs for several years now, and the only reason we installed solar was to have redundancy during power outages. Since we live on the coast, we get hit by them A LOT!!! But, Sun Run's installation of our system is so bad, that it has yet to provide us power when the power goes out. You read that right. In the several years since installation, every time the power goes out, our system doesn't operate. I escalated to their CEO two years ago, and they connected us with an amazing advanced resolution team, but she's in Tennessee and has to take the word of the techs at face value. It seems that the tech they keep sending doesn't seem to know his head from a hole in the wall. He shows up, calls someone else and they tell him what to look at. The battery backup is guaranteed to work only 10 years (they never commit to 25 years). And they say they guarantee the performance to be only 70% (not 90% as they claim). A couple of weeks ago we finally resolved the dispute over how much to pay them, given that it was not producing for a year while they tried to get extra money out of me and I had to pay for legal advice in order to get them to do the job at all. Ok, UPDATE! Once the project managers got ahold of the process, everything went exceedingly well. Yes there were delays on delays But the majority of those I must say were in the City of Sunnyvale wheelhouse. What would pass in San Jose in a matter for minutes took several days to comply in Sunnyvale, what with painting all the conduit on the roof and on the side of the house and running extra grounding wires? Anyway the quality of the work is EXCELLENT, everything is tight and tidy, the system came right up and the Tesla PowerWall app let's me see the solar panels powering my house and charging the PowerWall 3. I am very satisfied with the end product and when SunRun gets their staff levels up to the demand, I would highly recommend them as a service entity. People and technical expertise were never the problem, just overcommitment. I'm a happy camper! read more

I call and schedule an appointment for the technician to come and fix it. They DON'T show up! First of all, let me say I have 9 units with Sunrun. You'd think they'd treat loyal customers better, but outside of Jackie, my sales rep, the company support is a disjointed, inept, and not very well trained. Everytime I have an experience with their support team, I question why I've done so much business with them. Their systems break often (I've had 3 inverters replaced already), and getting people to go out to check it out is a nightmare. The average downtime whenever something breaks is 2 months, which is extremely frustrating given we own most of our units, so it's just money coming out of our pocket. We told them we were not interested in going with them because their price is not competitively. WORST CUSTOMER SUPPORT in the industry! I've had a "System Underperforming" ticket opened since the end of Dec. 2024; Technician visits Jan. 6th and determines root cause: a part is needed to be replaced. Technician was great and said the part usually takes 7-14 days to arrive. I've called several times and have spoken to my case owner "Maria". I've asked to speak to an escalation manager and the request was ignored. I just spoke to "Maria" again and was told the part wasn't ordered until the end of January 2025 and the part has not arrived. I purchased this system and installed in Nov 2021. Since my system is underperforming I've paid PG&E more than $600.. the sole reason why I invested in solar was to avoid these payments. The Sales person and Field Engineers have been great but are way over stretched. The customer service and case owner are the worst I've ever experienced. Save yourself the aggravation and and invest your money in a solution with Tesla directly.. I am thisclose to replacing my solar panels and control system as I have two Tesla batteries. This review is based on a friend's proposal from Sunrun. I think what they proposed for her is borderline criminal. They proposed a PPA and suggested she could pre-pay for $24,000. This is extravagantly more expensive than actually buying the system outright. Also buying would allow her to reap significantly more electric savings than a PPA lease. They never suggested that buying would be much better value to her. The pitch with the lease is that you don't have to put any money down. But the fact is my friend could afford paying for the solar panels outright. Shop around folks! And stay away from Sunrun. There are many honest solar installers out there both local and national. For my own house, I got six bids. I went with an installer with final installation price of about $2.35 a watt. That's a great deal! We consistently get solicitors from Sunrun who ignore our no soliciting signs. I had to make a custom sign just for them. One of the solicitors who wouldn't take no for an answer got angry and aggressive & I had to tell him to get the hell off my property. They always claim they're not solicitors and are with "the electric company", doing a switchover, that they have been signing up my neighbors (funny... in all these years of solicitations, none of my neighbors have solar yet). Unethical sales tactics, outright lying and it's obvious that they are being coached by the company to use these sales tactics because they all do it. I would love to have solar but not by signing up for a 25-30 yr contract for equipment I will never own after paying towards it for decades, for a contract that must transfer to any potential buyer of my house who will get wrangled into this commitment for equipment that will surely be obsolete 20 years from now (which means I may have a smaller pool of willing buyers), that I'm committed to it whether it works or not. I heavily researched these solar companies because I desperately wanted solar, and I read that they aggressively sell these contracts because they get money from the government rebates, often to elderly people who clearly will not live that many years but it's actually the property that is stuck with it & must be factored into the cost of buying/selling the home and that when there are problems with waiting to get it installed or serviced, they drag their feet and their customer service is horrible (just look at all of the reviews). I also read that they have sold to elderly people who had roofs that clearly didn't have adequate sun because they were shaded by taller adjacent buildings and that people had 2 electricity bills now and it was costing them more money rather than saving them money. A large percentage of reviews say that they are not getting the results they were promised and still having to rely on their regular electric company too much. I really can't emphasize enough about how often misrepresentation comes up in customer reviews and articles & that just makes me feel that they are unethical/ willing to say anything just to get you roped in to signing the contract and really don't care about providing a good product or good service. I am a pretty young homeowner, so I asked, may I know the reason for knocking on my door and what you are selling. The rep just wanted to speak with the owner and disclose information to the owner only it rubbed me off the wrong way and told him I just a renter bro have a nice day. All departments are disjointed and there is zero incentive to help you. My system was down for 2 months. A repair person could not be scheduled for another 3 weeks. Then they called and said they had to reschedule due to technical training. So I lost another 2 weeks. The tech finally arrived and claimed he knew what was wrong. He said he fixed it and would check the next day. It's been a week and it is not fixed and I have to call SunRun again to get it resolved. This is all during peak summer and will probably cost me over $1k in lost net metering savings. Stay away. Oh yeah, also suspect they are outsourcing service (big surprise overseas). First system came with the house when I purchased it and I got bit on the second system, dummy me. I have had a request for removal and reinstall since I have a leak in my roof for the past 6 weeks now. Every time I call with my concern, I have been brushed off. I have been told they will escalate my concern to a tier 3 manager and I will get a call back within 24-48 hours. It has now been 4 days without a call. This is a repeat issue where I would call and would be told I would get a call back but no one ever calls me back and again, this has been going on for the past 6+ weeks...the RUNAROUND. In June (as in 4 months ago) I notified sunrun the roof work was done and I needed to schedule the reinstallation. I spent countless hours on hold trying to talk to someone, and if I ever did get through, the person would not help me. It has now been 4 months and my panels are still sitting in my yard, I have no date for reinstallation, and nobody can explain the process, why it's taking so long, or if they ever actually intend to fulfill their contract. Don't do it! Just don't do it! We should have read the reviews before we went with them. They told us we needed to replace the roof (now I'm questioning if we even needed that) so they subcontracted the roof replacement. They sold us a "moss cleaning" for the roof and never did it. We fought with them for months. They said it was supposed to be the roofer and the roofer said it was supposed to be SunRun. Went back and forth and back and forth and never got resolved even though it was in our contract - they never fulfilled it. Even worse, the roof leaks really badly because the subcontractor messed up. Now there's a huge discolored spot on my ceiling and it's about to fall in. We went back and forth with SunRun for over a month and still it hasn't been fixed. The leak is just getting worse because it's been raining. My mom who is in her 70s sleeps below the leak (she listens to the water pour in all night) and has been so stressed about it that it sent her to the hospital yesterday with chest pains and high blood pressure. They tested her and said it was due to the stress. Even so every time we call SunRun they tell us someone will contact us in 48 hours and no one ever does. We've called them dozens and dozens of times. I'm now left with thousands of dollars of damage - all my insulation got wet, there's a huge part of the ceiling about to fall in. The customer service agents always just give us the run around. Nothing is ever done. It's simply horrible. They have been the worst company I've ever worked with in my entire life. Do NOT do it!!! I regret so so so so so so much hiring them. Instead of making my life better they've made it so much worse and they do not care about the customer. It's so bad. As with another commenter below, I am thinking about moving forward with a lawsuit as well. Such a headache that could've been avoided if all they did was just focus on customer experience/service instead of being shady and greedy. Edit: They just called and told us they would send someone out to investigate the issue. They literally JUST DID THAT. So we tell them - no, someone came and already investigated. There's a leak. There's notes in your system about it! We know that because other agents read back those notes to us! You don't need to investigate AGAIN!!! You just need to fix my leaking roof which your sub caused! And then they lie telling us the first investigator couldn't finish his job. Total lie. So we start the process over again. Meanwhile my roof has been leaking for many many days, and will get worse this week when it rains. So this really just means they'll never fix it. The level of incompetence and shadiness at this company doesn't stop. Just know that this is not a company that has your back, or that cares about you or your experience in the slightest. You're completely on your own after the sales people give you their pitch. I will be filing a dispute with my credit card company, complaining through BBB, and following up through legal means. RUINED OUR ROOF MAJOR LEAKS We went with Sunrun to do a roof replacement and solar installation. They subcontracted out the roof replacement to Epic Energy and then installed the solar. After months and months of delay and lack of response, we finally got both the roof replaced and the solar installed. At the first sign of rain, major leaks in the roof. We had an emergency specialist come out to inspect and he said they didn't even install the roof up to code. On top of all of that solar panels were installed so poorly that the screws went through the ceiling. $30,000 later and we are going to have to get our roof repaired and RE installed on our own dime. We have reached out to Sunrun multiple times about this issue and haven't received a single response. Still waiting and hoping that they take responsibility. read more

THEY HARASS you with calls, come by your house after you cancel the appointment (email and phone call cancelation) and EVEN AFTER ASKING THEM TWICE TO REMOVE ME FROM THE CALL LIST they kept calling. I didn't want to deal with them after I signed up for a quote at Costco, because of all the poor reviews. I even conveyed this two two different reps. The last one that called me just now wouldn't take no for answer. I told him please stop calling and he wouldn't let go. I had to hang up on them. I have my account set on autopay so I never check it.  I finally decided to review everything since my last true up was $1230.00 and saw that I was being charged $5 a month from Vivint for fees since I "am not set up with ACH autopay" even though that money is being taken by ACH withdrawal from my checking account!!! So I contact them and I explain it so many ways that I've run out of ways to say it clearly.  They just keep repeating themselves stating that "the customer" set up payment with a credit card on December 29, 2021.  Hmmm.  I never set anything up with them -  I've always been set up through Vivint with autopay.  One lady even told me that when the information was migrated over it was listed as coming from a credit card.  I said - ok well, its my checking account.  Not a credit card.  And for some reason they're morons and cannot understand.   This money would show on my credit card statement if it were set up with my credit card.  You normal people understand this, right?  But it is being withdrawn from my checking account, like it's supposed to.   It's driving me nuts.  I don't know if they're really that dumb or they're effing with me.  They won't take responsibility for it and just keep saying that "a customer" set this up.  Oh - and that if I don't want to be charged fees, I need to manage my account and add it to autopay. I went and did this anyway because they're dumb.   I think any child would deduce that the problem happened when migrating client information over into their system.  But they can't even fathom that.   Anyway - so they only owe me like $100 and they refuse to pay it or take responsibility.  One lady said there is no way they can refund that money because of the way I set it up (???!!!) but she can give me a $50 credit for being a customer.  NOT BECAUSE THEY WRONGLY CHARGED ME!!!  wth. I purchased panel from sunrun about 8 years ago. Their last service visit, something happened and our panels stopped working. We were not notified our panels were not working and received a very large pg&e bill. After many service calls, we found out that some wires were stuck in a few pipes (their error). We tried to get some credit towards our PG&E, which they refused and said they are not required to notify customers if panels are not connected and this was our issue. I reminded them, their technicians are the ones who worked on our panels and were the ones who got the wires stuck in the pipes. Their response was maybe we should get a lawyer. read more

In November 2023 Sunrun finally installed my system after more than 6 months of waiting and preparation I undertook at my expense in lieu of waiting. The system was interconnected with PGE in June 2024. The generation has worked on and off since then. The app has been faulty all along. I contacted Sunrun' s each of the 5-6 changed point persons without much helpful response or intervention. Two wks ago PGE turned my power off for 6 hrs for some line repair a block away. My backup battery did nothing as if it was not even there. I could go on but in summary, the worst experience ever. To date I do not know my battery status , the consistent kWh generated or my house reliance on it. Will I get some support ever from Sunrun.? read more

Bad experience. They send a staff to knock on my door harshly, not polite, not targeted or proposing any solution.

A review that is long overdue. We have approximately 28 panels and a back-up battery. It has made such a difference in our electric bill and we had power when PG&E power went out. Sunrun has been wonderful to work with!! Sunrun contacted us to let us know that the panels were no longer contacting Sunrun, which meant we needed a Wifi booster - which they provided and installed!! At no cost!! The back-up battery was old and Sunrun told us it needed to be replaced - which they did!! At no cost to us!! We couldn't be happier with the service and the change in our electric bill. Now if PG&E would quit finagling around with the bill (what the hell is a true-up??), we would be ecstatic!! read more
