Riding in the drizzle on Jordayna. Well trained and excellent guide rider. Beautiful!

Well trained mount Jordayna took me for a lovely ride on the Paulina's Peak trail. Excellent guide and beautiful scenery. Wildlife out enjoying the drizzle.

Only reviewing for the pony ride for 2-6 year olds. We paid $30 total ($15/rider) for each kid to be walked around a short winding circle twice at a super slow speed. This might be more fun for a 2 or 3 year old but my 5 & 6.5 year olds were not too impressed. I'm guessing we were there for 10-15 minutes. The pony was a little spooked by two other horses coming back to the stables and she had to stop the ride until they were put away. Not a huge deal but seemed odd. So wouldn't recommend for fearless and adventurous kids but maybe for a first encounter with a pony. I would love to come back for private lessons in the arena and some trail riding.

Either bathe in deet before you go, wear very thick clothing in hot weather or don't go at all!

Overpriced and less than satisfactory experience. The horses were unruly and did not want to be ridden. My horse took off about ten minutes into the ride and galloped back to to the stables. I could not get her to stop and the owners and other stable hands had to run in front of the horse to slow her down. I was utterly terrified and they asked me why I couldn't pull on the reins more to stop the horse. I was an inexperienced rider and was doing everything I could to not fall off. We were immediately placed on other horses for the remainder of the hour and I was made to feel as if it were my fault that the horse took off. I understand that horses can be spooked, but I dislike the way the whole thing was handled. Additionally, my sister and I have about fifty bug bites on each leg, incredibly swollen, and we both had long pants on. Nothing was said by anyone about how bad the mosquitos were on the trail or the fact that they could bite through pants. With the extensive bug bites, I definitely think that a warning should have been in order, ESPECIALLY with the Zika virus!!! I look like I have a skin disease and it is so swollen and itchy. The trail itself is nothing special. Incredibly dusty and one view of the Deschutes River. We saw a few deer which was pretty cool. Our guide was very friendly and sweet at least after the fact of the horse taking off.

This would've been a better experience if there had not been a dead rat floating in the water in tank where the horses were drinking all the kids were petting your faces. When I mentioned it to the guy in the office he didn't seem too interested in doing anything about it until I mention the health violation related to it then they cleaned it out looks pristine.

Nice staff, beautiful view, gentle horses. This is great to experience with your kids if they are at least 7 years old. The horses know the trail and follow it with out you really having to guide them anywhere. So if you are an experienced rider and want to ride a horse your way then this isn't the place for you. The horses are clearly well taken care of. Every horse has a name. My daughter loved the horse she was on. It's name was Christmas. Our guide Soraya had a smile on her face from the moment we met her to the moment we said goodbye. Soraya's positive attitude really added to our experience. Everyone working there was pleasant and helpful. My only complaint is how dusty the trail is, although I don't think they can do much about that. All in all it was a fun time.

We had a wonderful 1 hour trail ride with Josie and Rey first thing in the morning. Guides were friendly and informative. Recommended!

Extremely boring. Very little to no instruction. It was 45 mins of trotting at an extremely low speed. My nephew could walk faster.

Most of the places we've gone to in the past (Crooked River Ranch and Eagle Crest Resort) were closed this summer, so we decided to make the drive to the Seventh Mountain Resort by Mt. Bachelor. We had a terrible experience trying to make a reservation. So up to the actual trail ride, I would give them one or two stars for the administrative side of the business. Nonresponsive by phone, a bit disorganized in person and they overcharged us for the ride until we called the discrepancy to their attention. Once we got on the horses, things improved from there, slightly. The ride is a bit dusty and not the best we've ever had, but again, there appear to be very few options in the area. Unfortunately on a trail ride your experience is very dependent on other riders and whether they are comfortable and able to control their horse. We had two other riders that almost fell off and unfortunately it really freaked out my son. We've gone to Diane's Riding Place, which I now consider the best in the area, but it is more instructional rather than a trail ride. So at the end of day, a fun family activity, but hopefully others will have a better experience before mounting their steed. They also have adorable miniature ponies at Pony Town, so that would be a hit with little ones.

I didn't find out until after the ride that he is only four years old - which may explain his green behavior. I really don't find it enjoyable to constantly be pulling on a horse's mouth while they are trying to go their own way or getting too close to other horses. He's already got a hard mouth and I'm sure it's going to get worse. Putting experienced riders on this horse for an hour at a time is a poor excuse for proper training. The majority of their business is focused on guests who are staying at the ranch (many from overseas) who want to go on longer trail rides or an old fashioned cattle drive a la City Slickers. Since we already have a home in the area, we didn't get to take advantage of their hospitality as guests. However, we did visit to enjoy a trail ride. My boys love to ride, but it has been quite difficult finding a trail ride that satisfies all of our needs. We've tried Diane's Riding Place, but they tend to be more instructional. The stables at the Seventh Mountain Resort were only OK. My goal was to get more of an 'authentic' trail ride with a little bit of fun. We were only partially successful. First off, making reservations wasn't terribly easy. After calling the main business line, I was given a second number to dial for the stables. Since the focus is on their ranch guests, they don't seem to be overly eager to take outside riders. Fortunately, some of those guests had another activity planned, so we were able to arrange a ride. It turned out to be semi-private and Katie was a wonderful guide. You will sign a brief liability waiver, and riders must wear jeans and boots. The boots requirement was a first, but fortunately they have plenty to borrow at no charge. Children are also required to wear helmets. The ranch covers 600 acres, so they took a gentle ride up through the hills to enjoy the view of the Three Sisters. It was a good ride, but low on the excitement factor. No cantering or galloping, just an easy mosey up and back. Unlike the prior reviewer, the ride lasted exactly 60 minutes, so no complaints there. It is really disappointing that there aren't more horseback riding options in the area. These hills are filled with ranches, but due to liability concerns, very few open their doors to the public. We still feel like we are searching to find that magical ride. http://www.lhranch.com/index.php

The Long Hollow Ranch checked every one of those boxes. We stayed in the Homestead cabin, which had three beds upstairs, and one downstairs. The morning breakfast was signaled by a good old-fashioned dinner bell at the main house, which is beautiful. There were lots of hash browns, fruit, juice and more. They even offered to cook each of us an egg to order, which our son took advantage of. The breakfast was absolutely great. All in all, this place was well worth the price, which was already much lower than other places on our trip. They even let us dabble with our fly pole in their bass pond free of charge. They accommodated our late check in (10 PM) and even had the AC going when we arrived. Customer service was top notch. This is the definition of a 5 STAR property.
