There are no shaded areas so plan to visit early in the morning or later in the afternoon. However, if you end up here right in the middle of the day, don't worry! Your kids will be excited to cool down at the adjacent water park- also free! In between the city and water park there is a nice mostly shaded playground. This was such a fun place to visit! There is a big mall within a 10 min drive so you can make this a day trip!

The park has a paved walkway about 1 mile long, there are also wooded trails that you can take along the way, and there is a good size boardwalk built over the wetland section of the park. Lots of benches all around the park, in addition to some very comfortable pavilions equipped with benches and BBQ. All of the facilities are in top shape and the park is home to a very wide variety of wildlife. Great place to go for a walk or spend some time enjoying nature and having a picnic or use the playground with your kids.

The trail is nicely shaded and has a paved walkway which makes it easy for parents pushing their child in a stroller or the casual jogger out on a nice morning. The trail has plenty of benches as well as beautiful views of the natural landscape and the water that separates the path from the golfers on the course. Along the way there are information boards to learn about the Preserve environment. There are emergency posts located along the 1.1 mile trail incase there is a problem if 911 needs to be called. I also noticed a cute painted rock collection that stretches over 30 yards in the shape of a snake. Next time I will will be bringing a rock to contribute. Overall, I thought this place was great on a nice day but it would be too hot during the summer to visit.

Not only is this park well-maintained and beautiful with foliage, grass, a bridge, a play park for kids, a lake and one of the nicest bathrooms I've ever seen in a park!!! :) But little did I know that this park is also a historical landmark. In school I always hated history because I couldn't relate through a book. Historical landmarks gives you a bit of a visual reality which now makes history more interesting to me. This park holds the history of the Tequesta Indians. Along the walking path you'll see tiles that explain some of the history of the Tequesta Indians. A great park I highly recommend!

Markham has these and so much more. When I first got to South Florida I came out this way for bike rides. Although it's very famous for its off road courses, biking the paved roads of the park is great as well. I've also used the range here, solid. But over the past couple years, we have come out here for the disc golf. It's a great course. Tough holes that feel very makable but still can humble most that play it. There are many other things to include a RC boats and RC planes areas, but whatever you mind come out West by, you are bound to enjoy Markham.

Nature Center is great. Perfect trails for all ages. Restrooms and refreshments available. I did the Half mile boardwalk loop trail which is very shaded, so it wasn't feeling too hot. Very tropical. Felt like it was actually misting but no rain. Lots of water under the walkway. It's a Lush forest. Then I did the 1 mile loop prairie trail plus an extra 300 yard loop trail off the prairie trail. Overall a nice forest. Check it out if you haven't been. It's free and plenty of parking was available on a Saturday. They Even had a cleaning station with a water hose and foot scrubber to clean your shoes on the way out.

So glad some friends told us about this place awhile back when we were talking about places to take the grandkids in the future. But even if you're just a kid at heart, You may want to visit here. Wear your bathing suit. It's easy to find. And there's ample free parking out front. Mid week when we stopped by it wasn't very busy. But if I had kids, I'd be here every weekend -- especially in our recent hot weather. First and foremost is the interactive water/splash pad. So many machines spraying water, buckets dumping, etc etc. The three kids there were squealing with joy and excitement. Such fun. There's also a story walk/trail for children with various stops plus a regular walking trail. A covered playground with equipment for kids. A Volleyball sand court; basketball court; grills; picnic areas... all with a large swath of green grass in the middle -- perfect for events/concerts. On the south end is the canal C-14 with a fishing pier. More "waters edge" as in the name. And also for adults, there's a covered area right near the water with all sorts of gym/exercise equipment. Don't know what more you could want except maybe a few more resting benches along the main trail for the older folks... Go check it out. Bring the kids.

This is a beautiful community center located in Volunteer Park in Plantation. The center has…read moremeeting rooms with seating from 10 to 175 people. The main banquet room can seat 50 to 240 people. It has a dance floor and stage and a grand piano can be made available. The center also has a full service kitchen with a convection oven, walk-in cooler, ice machines and commercial warmers. The community center can be rented for weddings and other events. I attend a rummage sale held at the community center that benefited the Plantation Historical Society. Two large rooms were filled with vendors selling books, housewares, clothes, sporting goods, toys, collectibles, and all the usual kind of things you find these second hand item sales. I was able to find a one of a kind fancy feeding station for my dogs that has a crown. It was nice to shop the items and help a worthy organization at the same time. The next event that will be held here is a craft fair to benefit the Plantation Woman's Club on Nov 9 - Nov 10, 2019.

Park amenities include a swamp themed splash pad, recycled material nature trail, 9 hole disc golf course, bathroom, 3 picnic pavilions, and 9 exercise stations with outdoor machines. The park is environmentally friendly with solar lights and sensors in the splash pad to conserve water by turning off when not in use. This park is the perfect place to cool down and get exercise. I saw a lot of families soaking themselves in the splash and then taking off to exercise on the trail. Like all of the parks in Sunrise this one is meticulously maintained with beautiful landscaping like silver buttonwoods and firebush to attract butterflies. The plants in the park are 90 percent native to Florida. This is a wonderful place to bring the community together.

The kiddie water park is named Cypress Marsh Splash Pad was not in use today. Visited here today with my wife and had a good experience and was satisfied with the cleanliness of the park.
