Beyond that, I'm not sure what other park amenities are available. The newly designed event space, however, is excellent. It's absolutely beautiful, with floor-to-ceiling windows that let in plenty of natural light while still being comfortably air conditioned. There's a storage room stocked with both round and rectangular tables and chairs for events. The venue also has separate men's and women's restrooms, each with multiple stalls. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped with a large double-door refrigerator, a second full-size refrigerator, a commercial-style oven with multiple racks, an ice machine, plenty of counter space, and a large three-compartment sink. (I forgot to take photos of the kitchen.) We rented this space for a baby shower, and it was perfect. Just keep in mind that you'll need to handle your own setup and cleanup, including taking out the trash. The staff was friendly, communicative, and easy to work with throughout the process. I would definitely recommend this venue!

This is a large neighborhood park in Plantation. In 2005 the playground equipment was damaged by…read moreHurricane Wilma. It was rebuilt by 200 volunteers from Massey-Yardley Chrysler Jeep, The Chrysler Foundation, the City of Plantation, organizers from KaBOOM!, and residents of the community who all came together to restore the play structures for the children. In addition to the playground the park has a half basketball court, practice baseball field, a pavilion which can be rented, picnic tables, benches and a restroom. There is also a large open area for play and exercise. My favorite part of the park was along the canal where the water attracts local birds. On the day I visited there were two Egyptian Geese with big personalities and a common moorehen with her chick. They are also known as a swamp chickens and live around well-vegetated marshes, ponds, canals and other wetlands. I loved watching the sweet little fuzzy chick explore the world under its mother's watchful eye. That is why I enjoy checking out all kinds of parks. You never know what you will discover. This is a great park to play, picnic, or to just watch the nature swim by.

There's a decent sized playground for kids. There's a softball field and a single basketball hoop in what looked like a part of the parking lot that they blocked off. I noticed they had a book box that I've been seeing around the county more. One of those where you get give and/or take a book. I say one pavilion and a bench along the huge lake. I didn't check if they were open but it looked like there were bathrooms near the entrance. I can't confirm if there was a water fountain. The parking lot is a bit small and the path to get in is a little tight. Otherwise, this looks to be a great park, especially if you just want to lay out in the sun on the grass and relax.

They have a baseball field open to first come first serve although on Sunday its seems the adults own the field. A blacktop walking trail surrounds the grassy multi-use playing field. Picnic tables under a covered pavilion allow small bbq parties and kiddie events overlooking a tranquil lake. There is a decent adult fitness area with several gymnastic type equipment. The kiddie park near the entrance is large and has sufficient parking.

In 1993, six more acres were added to the park as was a new softball field, a soccer/football field and a new park shelter. Today the park is looking better than ever. A new playground and outdoor fitness court were unveiled last month which increased the fitness and play options in the City of Sunrise. The new playground is ADA accessible with a wheelchair entry. It now has more than a dozen play structures including slides, swings, climbers, and a merry go round. Elements were added to foster learning, inspire music, and provide tactile games. The playground is covered in shade canopies and new seating and landscaping were added. Also brand new at Oscar Wind Park is the first Fitness Court in the city and it is also shade covered like the playground. The Fitness Court has an app on the side that teaches you how to use it. You do a circuit of exercises using your own body weight in order to condition and strengthen during work outs. It can be modified for all fitness levels. Additional park features included an open green space with a new 1/2 mile walking path, new landscaping, renovations to the restroom and picnic pavilion, and new LED lighting. My favorite improvement is that there is now a connecting walkway between Oscar Wind Park and Sawgrass Sanctuary Park. I like that you can do a really long walking circuit around both parks and never have to go into the road. The two parks blend together seamlessly. With the new additions to Oscar Wind Park, I think this is the best place in the city to enjoy nature, take the kids to play, and exercise.

Memorial Park in Pembroke Pines is a park located near the Charles F. Dodge City Center. On one…read moreside of the park is a covered ADA accessible play ground with swings, slides, and climbing structures. The playground was very busy the night I visited. It was nice to see all of the kids having fun under the eyes of their watchful parents. The other side of the park has the Veterans Memorial, a fifteen foot black granite obelisk which bears the seals of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and Merchant Marines. It also features the flags of the City of Pembroke Pines, the State of Florida, and the United States. Across from the Veterans Memorial is the restrooms and a pavilion that houses a memorial to 9/11. A steel girder from one of the Twin Towers was obtained after Pembroke Pines Commissioner Angelo Castillo reached out to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg who bequeathed the steel piece to Pembroke Pines in 2005. The memorial also has sculptures by local artists Benoit Menasche and Felix Gonzalez. Benoit Menasche Italian white marble sculpture is especially moving. It features four stages from the 9/11 event: shock, grieving, acceptance, and the rebuilding. It is a piece that evokes a lot of emotions, especially the shock side which features a skull and the bodies of people falling from the towers. Gonzalez is a retired firefighter who became a sculptor. He contributed a sculpture made from steel of a firefighter and child which is a memorial to the heroism of the first responders on that day. I love how this park is a place for children of Pembroke Pines to play but is also a powerful memorial to America's heroes. Never forget.

A large exterior fence surrounds the park which seems unusual compared to the the typical open Florida park but when I found out the park has a pool it makes sense. They need to keep it extra secure to make sure kids don't get in and possibly drown. The pool area has an additional fence around it. The pool is open Monday to Friday: 2:00pm to 6:30pm, Saturday: 10:00am to 4:00pm, and closed Sunday. There is a discounted admission for Lauderhill residents. Group and private swim lessons are offered throughout the year. Other park amenities include rest room, sand volleyball court, sports fields, batting cage, benches, center with recently updated indoor gym and meeting rooms, and picnic pavilions with grill. There is also a public art piece celebrating the sacrifices of veterans. This park serves as a community gathering place for people to exercise, play, and picnic. It is wonderful that the city is promoting swim lessons for the residents of Lauderhill.

This park is located next to Gator Run Elementary School. I came over to seven acre Gator Run Park to walk off some anxiety after dropping off my dog at the vet for surgery. Park amenities include a bike fixit repair station, lighted walkways, restroom, sand volleyball court, shaded playground, and three picnic shelters. Rest assured that there are no gators to run from here. The alligator in the parks name refers to the fact the Weston is Broward County's most western town, situated right next to the Everglades. This is a great park to come for exercise, take your dog for a walk, take the kids to play, in, or have a picnic. I really love Weston and the immaculate parks are one of the reasons.

While this park is small it has everything you need starting with a nice sized parking lot and one of Weston's excellent and clean public restrooms. In the center of the park there is a playground with shade covered seating. On the left side of the park next to the restroom is outdoor fitness equipment for adults including a pull-up/dip, squat press, and stretching station. On the right side of the park is a half basketball court and bike fix it station. Throughout the park is paved walkways, landscaping, and lighted walkways. My favorite part of the park is the beautiful plants and trees. Purple and white Crepe Myrtle trees in full bloom are planted throughout the park. A Weston park is always clean and meticulously landscaped making it an attractive recreational resource for anyone looking for a place for play or exercise.
