The first thing that caught my eye was the avocado toast appetizer. I'd had lots avocado toast in my day (I am from California, after all), but never with grilled shrimp! So I ordered it as my meal. I figured that it would be enough along with the Cesar salad and haricot verts that we ordered for the table. I was right! Not only was it delicious, but I was satiated. My partner and my friend both ordered dinner meals: the red drum fish and the miso cod. My fork snuck little bites of each. Again, delicious. This restaurant is on the pricey side for the area, but in alignment with the haute cuisine in larger cities at a smaller price point. If you have the budget, it's definitely worth it.

When Jules first opened the selection of fish changed fairly often, with some "standards" always appearing. The last couple of times we have been here, the standards are now the menu, with not much in the way of Specials. That is really a shame because of the variety of fish that was being served, with some we had never seen before in other restaurants. This is not to say that you shouldn't try the place - it's definitely one to check out but for repeat customers it needs some variety.

Jason was willing to work with us and so detailed, I was so impressed, I not only booked the rehearsal dinner there, but then hired Dog and Bull to provide our bar service at the wedding venue and the after party. All three of these events were separate, but perfectly facilitated. The food and service were amazing and my guests are still raving about the events. I didn't have the pleasure of visiting Dog & Bull before it was renovated, but I visited last night and can't wait to return. My friend and I made a reservation for 5:30 PM (just in case) as we read online that reservations were recommended, but I don't actually think one was needed. When you walk in, it's bright and inviting. The garage doors throughout the property provide a ton of natural light. I can only imagine how lovely it is when they're open in the summer. Additionally, the outside has a nice patio and an area with a fire pit. The restaurant's layout was designed wonderfully! Our server was Alex (Alexandria) and she was the epitome of exceptional service. She checked in on us multiple times and always had a smile on her face when she came over. We really appreciated having her. The baked feta and hummus appetizer was just as delicious as it looks in the photo. The thick pieces of garlic, roasted red peppers, olives, cucumbers and pita bread triangles paired so nicely with the feta. The hummus was warmed up and it looked like the kitchen staff may have torched the top of it. It was phenomenal. Boy do I have notes on the lentil burger - it was 10/10!! I'm not a big bean person and even though this burger had beans in it, it somehow tasted like an actual beef burger. Sounds crazy, I know, but trust and believe it was pure excellence. I added cheddar for an additional charge and upgraded my regular fries to garlic parm fries. Finally, the caramel apple bread pudding... oh my oh my! What a DELIGHT. The top was piled high with a big scoop of frosting. Yes, you read that right. Frosting! Not ice cream! You can taste the apple pieces in the bread pudding. My friend and I wanted to order it twice. It was THAT good. It was easy to make my way to Dog & Bull from Center City thanks to the Septa station located directly behind the restaurant. Street parking also wasn't too bad yesterday. Good thing we got there at 11:30 otherwise we would not have gotten our great table on the lower deck, undercover next to the water. (They do not take reservations and prefer to seat when entire party arrives). Our table was ideal and truly sets an enjoyable atmosphere. Crazy that by 12:10 the place almost filled up. Our server Kim was right on. Quickly brought drinks, and everything was timely and friendly. Lots of good choices on the menu...changed my mind at least 10 times. Ended up with the fish and chips. Generous amount of fries and 4 nice size pieces of breaded cod. It was the right choice. It was very good, not the best I have ever had but still very good. The others had a variety of things...chicken salad sandwich which was a great choice, hot dog, pulled pork, chicken sandwich, and buffalo chicken wrap. Surprisingly the sandwiches did not come with a side or even a pickle. That was disappointing for the price. This was my first time here and I enjoyed it! Closes for the winter on Labor Day. We were ultimately waiting ~15-20 minutes from the time that we arrived on site since we had put ourselves on the wait list an hour prior. Staff is super friendly given all the incessant "is my table ready?" questions that they get from folks. Things are pretty packed here but we got a table, and were helped and served quickly, and checked on regularly. Our table got the usual: Cactus Blossom, ~6 baskets of bread over the course of the meal, and individual meals. We shared a 12 oz. ribeye w/ ribs combo. Today it was actually not as good as usual, a bit more medium rather than medium rare, and the ribs were dry on the outer half. However, still a completely filling and enjoyable meal all things considered. Pro-tip: put the last bits of your Cactus Blossom in a bun with both butter and sauce for a treat that is much more unhealthy and delicious than you bargained for. To boot, we asked the staff to put our celebrant on the saddle, even though we weren't celebrating his birthday, and they happily fulfilled our wish. Folks here love a good time, even though they are probably easily clocking 30K+ steps filling all their tables.

The one positive point is that the steaks themselves are consistent. The cuts and quality control for how the steaks are cooked are the high point - nothing available here is super high grade but you will get what you selected and it is generally cooked to your specification. However, the sides are hit or miss. Fries tend to be soggy and soft. The Caesar salad was once dependable as a "good" side but they seem to have reduced the quality and even the amount of dressing they put on it, maybe as a cost saving measure? To me the biggest issue here is the drastic inconsistency in quality of service. Sometimes you score a great server, but I'd say 75% of the time it is someone who seems to lack training in basic steps of service (getting the order right, following up on satisfaction a few minutes after food delivery, following up on drinks, etc.). It's a shame as this location had higher standards in the past.

The order was delivered and when the order arrived our tota was $15 dollars more than anticipated. We tipped the kid, paid and took our food. After looking over the menu we discovered the owner charged us an 18% gratuity AND a delivery fee. The delivery was is not listed on the menu and neither were listed on the receipt. When I called the restaurant the owner informed my that the coupon was for eat in only (something he did not disclose) but he was doing us a favor by delivering. Also, no disclosing that he would charge the fee anyway. Out of the 7 things we ordered only 3 were edible. I simple cheesesteak was burnt beyond all belief, the wings were over cooked, the tuna was unappetizing, and the cheese fries were cold and unappealing. I would NEVER eat at this place again!!!
