So, the last time I reviewed Georgines, my experience wasn't great, at all. After taking several years, the bride and I started visiting again about a year ago. We've been back multiple times since and I have to say that Georgines has redeemed themselves in spades!!! Without fail, I always get the surf and turf and every single time I go, it's predictably fantastic!!! I don't think the ownership has changed, but the management may have since my previous review. So if you're looking for a solid dinner, at a reasonable price, Georgines is your spot!

Banquet after a funeral service. Wonderful service. Spacious dining room. Comfortable seating. Lucious Stuffed shells were so divine/ green beans / and potato/salad /! (They also had some beef gravy dish as well as ham with pineapple on top. I didn't try it.) Desert offerings were chocolate cake, cheese cake and strawberry cake. I can vouch that the cheesecake was lovely. Tidy ladies room.

My first visit to Georgine's was in 1987, after my that first experience, I would make the 50-minute drive with my family and friends many times a year. Life got busy, and it's been a little over 7 years since my last meal at Georgine's until 2 weekends ago. I was surprised how much the interior hadn't changed. The decor looked the same, but it didn't look worn down. It was clean and inviting. Our reservation for 6 people was at 6:30 p.m. we arrived at 6:25 p.m. and we were seated at 6:30 p.m. sharp. It was a Saturday night. The bar at the entrance was busy, and all the tables around us had customers. Our server greeted us warmly, but she apologized for not arriving sooner because she had 3 tables seated at the same time. The menu had a nice selection overall from the appetizers to the entrées. I thought in the past they had pasta selections, but this menu did not. That was okay for me because in the past I my favorite menu offering at Georgine's was their selection of steaks and the different ways they prepared them. I ordered the Clams Casino as my appetizer, and other people at my table ordered Lobster Bisque, Snapper Soup, and Minestrone Soup. All the appetizers received stars with the exception of the Minestrone. My wife had ordered the Minestrone, and she didn't care for it she said it was more like the consistency of a Chili rather than soup. She didn't send it back, but she only had 2 spoonfuls. For entrées I ordered Steak Neptune (Filet mignon topped with lump crab and hollandaise sauce). I loved the freshness and the amount of lump crab meat. The sauce was nice, and the steak was very tender and cooked perfectly medium as I ordered. My only complaint was the steak wasn't bigger! I remember ordering Steak Neptune in the past and having a hard time completing my meal. This time, it was over too soon. 4 stars. Other entrées at my table were Boneless Chicken Breast (Plump breast grilled to perfection with seasonal vegetables and topped with a dab if garlic butter) This recived 4 stars, it was juicy and the portion was perfect. 2 orders of Steak Diane (Chef's cut of filet with mushrooms and a rich brandy demi-glaze) my friends said it was very delightful the male wanted more when he finished the female thought the portion of steak was fine. 4 stars. Chicken Parmigiana, my wife, enjoyed the taste very much. The cutlet was thin, but it took up the whole plate. She was very happy with the taste and she couldn't finish the large portion so she had a nice lunch the next day. 4 stars. New York Sirloin Steak, out of the 4 steaks our table ordered, this was by far the biggest. My friend was satisfied with the taste and the tenderness of his steak. With our entrées completed, it was on to dessert. We ordered the following. Dark side of the Moon Rich chocolate layer cake (to satisfy chocoholics). 4 stars Hot Apple Pie Served with vanilla sauce or choice of ice cream. 4 stars. Creme Brulee A chilled rich custard topped with a texturally contrasting layer of hardened caramelized sugar. 4 stars. Reese's Peanut Butter Pie Creamy peanut butter, chunks of peanut butter cups on a graham cracker crust. 4 stars. New York Cheesecake. Served with melba sauce, fresh sliced strawberries. This was my order, very small, and it didn't seem homemade. stars. We all left happy that we made the trip back to Georgine's, and we all agreed we need not wait so long to go back again. I did notice a person at another table ordered a plain Filet Mignon that was way bigger than the Filet served with the Neptune. So on my next visit I'll order the Filet Mignon and pay extra to have it Neptune style. I can't wait!!!

I didn't have the pleasure of visiting Dog & Bull before it was renovated, but I visited last night and can't wait to return. My friend and I made a reservation for 5:30 PM (just in case) as we read online that reservations were recommended, but I don't actually think one was needed. When you walk in, it's bright and inviting. The garage doors throughout the property provide a ton of natural light. I can only imagine how lovely it is when they're open in the summer. Additionally, the outside has a nice patio and an area with a fire pit. The restaurant's layout was designed wonderfully! Our server was Alex (Alexandria) and she was the epitome of exceptional service. She checked in on us multiple times and always had a smile on her face when she came over. We really appreciated having her. The baked feta and hummus appetizer was just as delicious as it looks in the photo. The thick pieces of garlic, roasted red peppers, olives, cucumbers and pita bread triangles paired so nicely with the feta. The hummus was warmed up and it looked like the kitchen staff may have torched the top of it. It was phenomenal. Boy do I have notes on the lentil burger - it was 10/10!! I'm not a big bean person and even though this burger had beans in it, it somehow tasted like an actual beef burger. Sounds crazy, I know, but trust and believe it was pure excellence. I added cheddar for an additional charge and upgraded my regular fries to garlic parm fries. Finally, the caramel apple bread pudding... oh my oh my! What a DELIGHT. The top was piled high with a big scoop of frosting. Yes, you read that right. Frosting! Not ice cream! You can taste the apple pieces in the bread pudding. My friend and I wanted to order it twice. It was THAT good. It was easy to make my way to Dog & Bull from Center City thanks to the Septa station located directly behind the restaurant. Street parking also wasn't too bad yesterday. I absolutely loved the experience I had here and will be stopping by again this summer! Thanks, Dog & Bull!

Our server was a delight. So excited to tell us all about the place and answer questions along the way. She kept our glasses full all the while tending bar and other tables. The vodka chicken sandwich was well done, tasty and crisp dredged in a thick vodka sauce and adorned with cheese. It did come with tomato but it was a little odd like it just didn't belong. I just added it to my generous side salad (an option instead of fries). This salad was packed full of fresh greens, cukes & tomatoes with a most delightful dressing. His French dip was full of flavor with tender med rare beef delicately sliced thin and high. The au jus that accompanied it was a nice compliment to the sandwich. We sat in a comfy booth with a view of the bar TVs and close enough to enjoy the live musician. A perfect place to grab a quick lunch and we will definitely be back!

Seating options are at the bar, high top tables, lower tables, a couch area and outside. The bartender (Autumn?) was there on both visits and did an outstanding job. They have their own spirits, house distilled and aged in a location close by. Hardware Vodka, Perfect Storm Spiced Rum, Bristol Springs Gin, Enchanted Indigo Vodka, Cedar Street Bourbon. I tried their Cedar St. bourbon - a mix of 75% Corn, 21% Rye and 4% Barley Malt. It's age statement was 2 years. It was a simple and smooth young bourbon, I had it neat and on a second trip in a cocktail called the Crazy Ex-Girlfriend - Cedar Street Bourbon, House-Made Strawberry Simple, Fresh Lemon which was sour, tart & refreshing for a gorgeous spring day. There was a hint of bourbon, but mostly sour lemon and sweet/tart strawberry. Their food menu is limited with a couple of small flatbread/personal pizzas $10 or 2 for $18 and a pretzel wreath from nearby Papa's pretzels. I had the Margherita which came on a premade whole grain shell. It had a sweet cheese & sauce, fresh basil and the crust was grainy and sweet. Simple flatbread, but it really hit the spot. (The bartender put it together quickly and baked it in a Bakers Pride oven right behind the bar.) They had several beers on tap, cider, tea, local wine/sangria, mead and some non alcoholic drinks. The list of standard and signature cocktails is a pretty good size. Their "Bristol Bomb" - FAMOUS DRILLED ORANGES (OR GRAPEFRUITS) 4 /8 Fresh Oranges Drilled filled Wit or Witout Hardware Vodka looked like a real fun drink! I will certainly return here at some point. It was always a simple/sorta dive neighborhood bar with good wings, good people and simple beers on tap. I stopped in on a recent Friday afternoon with a group of 17-20 people to check out the new "Slim's". The bar area itself looked renovated and the rest of the seating areas looked like they just cleaned up and added some badly needed lighting. The girl at the bar had to be very new or just lazy. She really didn't know the menu, was vaping by the register, didn't seem interested in helping anyone but her regulars, had customers buying her drinks and gave me my tab with no details. I'm a pretty tolerant guy, but she was not an asset to the owner at all. She was a total liability and waste of space. She anchored herself behind the bar looking at her phone until someone acknowledged her. We ordered the homemade taco dip with tortillas - the dip was cold and looked to be store bought in a plastic container with some dip thrown on top. Mozzarella sticks were awful and again the sauce was cold. I ordered the lambchops myself which said they came with "slim fries". I asked the bartender what slim fries were and she didn't have a clue. They were just crinkle cut fries. I enjoyed the lamb chops, but they were very salty and spicy. Spice doesn't bother me, but it should be added as a note on the menu. They had "Slim's beer" on tap which the bartender claimed was the owners own beer. It had to be either a Coor's or a Miller product. It was not very good. Either their lines aren't cleaned weekly or biweekly like they should be or it's just a macro beer with their own name on it. Quite a few customers I chatted with said the wings are still good, so I'll have to try them sometime if I'm in the neighborhood. Sadly, we all left hungry after an hour or so to go to a different establishment (we were much happier at the second place). We paid all of our checks without an issue, but the service and the product were far under expectations. There is a lot more effort needed at Slim's for them to get my business again.
