For drinks I ordered a passion fruit juice which was not bad at all, it just needed a little sugar and for starters I ordered some fried calamari which I could chew like gum. For dinner I ordered a shrimp mofongo which had a nice plantain flavor but the shrimp were also like gum. I really have loved the food here but had an odd experience last weekend. Went with a party of 6. 3 people ordered beef soft tacos. All of them said the meat had no flavor. When asking the waiter he instructed that they ordered ground beef and not seasoned ground beef? They ended up having to order other items and the tacos were not removed from the bill. Little Mexican/Latin spot in Croyden. Good sized menu and decent prices. BYOB which is great and rare for a mexican place! Service is SLOOOOOOOOOW. Maybe due to COVID or nobody wanting to work anymore.... They give you standard chips. Nothing special about them. My only gripe is the little amount they give you. We had four people and they were gone in no time. We got a side of their "famous" cheese sauce which was good but again the container it comes in is sooo small. Meal was good, cheesesteak burrito. I'm comparing this place to my personal favorite Las Margaritas in far northeast philly. Las Margaritas gives you 4x more chips, huge bowl of cheese sauce, and burritos way bigger. I cannot even believe how amazing tonight's dinner was. We suddenly had a couple hours and decided to try out La Choza! Ryan was super polite and a delight to have as our server. My Sour Sop smoothie was So flavorful and refreshing. I love this and it is a cancer fighter, too. Another terrific experience at La Choza. Top notch service from Maribel who took excellent care of us. I had the Seco de Chivo, (goat stew) with sweet plantains, yucca and a salad. The goat was very tender and the gravy was savory. The yucca was perfect for sopping up the gravy. Husband had the Parillada Mexicana and loved it. Grilled shrimp, Mexican sausage, chicken and beef sautéed with tomatoes, onions, mushrooms and peppers. They kicked it up a notch for him and added jalapeños. They also had a live singer who was honestly, supremely talented. We were surprised at his pipes. We love the food, decor and the staff and now, the entertainment. Can't wait to go back. read more

Believe it or not this little spot is one of the best places in Bucks County for real latin food. And it's in Croydon of all places. The restaurant is clean and nice and the service was prompt and friendly. I have no idea what the people giving one Star reviews are talking about. I suspect they don't either. My wife on the other hand, is South American and knows exactly what she's talking about when it comes to Spanish food. We've been here a few times and the food has been great! We always start with the Empanadas. Both the beef and chicken are very good. I've had both the La Choza Fajitas (Steak, Chicken, and Shrimp) and the Tacos de Carnitas. Both are straight up excellent! My wife has had the Shrimp Mofongo and Picada Colombiana. These are legit latin dishes done right. To top it off, everything is reasonably priced! I say give it a shot. If you like Hispanic cuisine, your other nearby options are joints like "On The Border" or God Forbid, the "El Paso" on Route 13. I like it and will be a regular from now on. read more

I Uber someone up here and was absolutely surprised to see a Latin restaurant in Croydon. Located just 5 minutes from street road. I didn't realize how big the restaurant was until I got inside. The place looked like it could easily be a banquet-restaurant. They were a few cool decor on the walls but for the most part, it was clean looking and not overly clustered with unnecessary designs. The menu was pretty extensive, inclusive of Tex Mex, Mexican, Colombian and Peruvian dishes. My waitress Andrea was pretty cool and recommended some great items. I opted for the Lomo Saltado with an extra order of arepa and Camarones empanizados (fried shrimps). The shrimps came out first and they were huge, for $10, you're getting a lot of shrimps. As far as flavor goes, the breading was a bit oily and I think could have used a bit more seasoning. The shrimps themselves were very tasty. I also really like the crunch. My Lomo Saltado was pretty good. The beef was very tender and buttery. The sauce was just right without being too salty or too sweet. The problem was the French fries mixed into the stir fry. Usually in Lomo Saltado, the beef is stir fried separately and then poured over the rice and fries. This process allow for the fries to stay crispy and for the sauce to cover everything. As it was done here at La Choza, the fries soaked up all the sauce and made the dish quite dry. The fries themselves got really starchy due to all the liquid it absorbed. I will tell them to leave the fries separate next time as I think the flavors were very decent. I will definitely come again to try different dishes. The restaurant was new and clean and the staff very friendly. The food was great but needed some minor improvements, nothing to stop one from trying this place out. My husband and Mother In Law are Puerto Rican and know Authentic food and where equally as empressed and ready to go back lol !! So I decided to give it a second shot, and support my fellow Latinx entrepreneurs, but it totally disappointed me and it was quite lame. I ordered a lunch meal (beef stew) $10 -not beverages included. But what I got was two pieces of beef stew and two chunks of potato. When I complained about the ridiculous portion, I was told that it was good meat (huh?) and it was a lunch meal. I felt robbed and costumer service was very poor. I uploaded the pic of my plate. My wife is Venezuelan and we both love this restaurant. We went there for Mother's Day and they had a live mariachi singing traditional latino music. We had a wonderful time. The staff here is always incredibly polite and gracious and the food is outstanding. This is a family friendly restaurant where children are welcome and did I mention the food is excellent as well? Edible, but plenty of room for improvement in this young restaurant. We came by around 5:30 on Saturday. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. There was only one other table of people there besides us. There were a few strikes before we even had our food, unfortunately. 1. The place was way too hot. We were sat right next to the thermostat, which was at 79* when we got there, and had risen to 82* before our food came. Just too warm. They also need some music playing, it's very quiet without that in the background. 2. The chips we were served when we sat were stale. The salsa was decent, but was served in a cup so small the chip didn't fit to dip, let alone scoop. It needs a different, larger dish. 3. The menu item descriptions need some detail. I was set on trying some of the Latin dishes on the menu, but there wasn't enough information to differentiate between the dishes - it would be helpful to know how something is cooked (braised, fried, grilled, etc.) and what spices and/or sauces are used. I couldn't tell what was what, so I ended up choosing from their Mexican selection. And then, the food -- it's edible and has potential to be good, but is just lacking in flavor and seasonings. * We ordered beef empanadas as an appetizers. They were large and looked delicious, but neither the filling nor the coating seemed seasoned. * My boyfriend ordered the carnitas tacos. They came with plenty of meat (which again, lacked seasoning), and lots of cilantro and chopped onion, which we love. The side of radishes offered a good crunch, but would have been better in matchsticks rather than halves. There was a sauce served with them, which gave a nice heat, but again, not much flavor. * I ordered the one burrito, one enchilada combination plate with rice and refried beans. The burrito and enchilada were the same exact item - just flavorless shredded chicken wrapped up in a flour or corn tortilla, respectively. The red sauce was okay. As with the other food, the main part of the dish, as well as the sauce and beans, have room for improvement in the area of seasoning and flavor. It's a shame, we used to eat here weekly. Their service started to decline specially during takeout. It seems as you are not as important because you are taking food to go. We started to notice that the portions for the takeout food was smaller each time (much smaller) the last time we ordered, we brought to their attention nicely, the waitress was rude over the phone and we STILL ordered. The order wasn't right. We ordered chicken and beef empanadas and they gave us all beef, no sauce as requested, and the portion came even smaller for the fajitas and yuca.
