Sunrise breakfast, caramelized, onion, and goat cheeseburger, huevos rancheros.

From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting vibe set the tone for a perfect meal. I had the goat cheeseburger with caramelized onions and sautéed kale, paired with a side of red cabbage--it was savory perfection balanced by the slightly sweet cabbage. We also ordered the Huevos Rancheros and the Sunrise Café Breakfast. Everything on the table was incredible: soft, fluffy scrambled eggs, potatoes, homemade biscuits, veggie patties, and--without exaggeration--the best pancakes I've ever had. On top of the amazing food, our waiter James made the whole experience even better. Friendly, attentive, and he made us feel right at home.

Drove over from Westerville just for breakfast (45 minutes) Got the pumpkin pancakes (almost as good as gingerbread), potatoes and veggie patties! All wonderful! Sleepy morning in Yellow Springs

Food!! Their French toast was the best I've ever had in my life. I can make some good French toast!!! Shrimp, and grits was excellent. They also make the best drinks in excellent coffee.

I was going to rate this 4 stars, but one of my family members got sick so I had to rate this three. This place has good atmosphere. It was not too loud, we were sat down next to the window, and there was really good music playing on the radio, definitely a lot of Stevie Wonder. Our waiter was super nice and helped us out with the menu. I had the Sunrise Classico which was pretty good. The artichokes slices were probably a little too big, but it was a nice dish. My mom had a regular burger that she only saw as okay. But my little sister had the salmon and she was in love. I didn't get a bite of it because she ate it as fast as humanly possible. Here is the meal that made me rate this place a three star, the Greek Beef burger. My dad order that last night, which he didn't really like that much. The next morning, he had a huge stomach ache which he said was from the burger. I do not recommend anyone ordering this, it could just be my dad but please be careful.

Vegan pumpkin pancake and veggie patties

One time I went to Yellow Springs and needed brunch. Sunrise Cafe was there for me. I dined with a group of 6 on a Sunday morning, and although initially we were told the wait would be 45-60 minutes we were seated within 10. I am a plant based eater, and as such sometimes brunch options are limited, but not at Sunrise Cafe. I found it difficult to choose between the Super Veggie Scramble (tofu and SO many veggies), Vegan Fill-Up (veggie patties, sautéed spinach, mushroom, and garlic, potatoes, and toast), vegan pumpkin pancakes (self-explanatory), kimchi salad, vegan grits, and potato and kale soup. These are the things I was considering - there are more! I settled on a pumpkin pancake and veggie patties. The pancake was HUGE, with crisp edges and a cakey middle. The spices are truly inspired - hands down the best pumpkin pancake I've been served. The veggie patties are house made with oats, flax, cornmeal, several veggies, and cayenne which adds just a bit of heat. They were also delicious. Both the pancake and patties were a little more oily than they needed to be, but otherwise I have no complaints. The restaurant itself is cute - the walls are covered in woodland/nature murals and the booths provide an intimate setting for conversation. It is a little chilly in the winter, so dress warmly. Pricing is very reasonable, especially for the quality and amount of food - I did NOT leave hungry, and am looking forward to going back to try all the other things I wasn't able to fit in.

I visited Yellow Springs Ohio for the first time yesterday and decided to try out Sunrise Cafe. I'm so glad I did! The service was very warm and friendly. The tables were candlelit and the water was served in cute little jugs. I need to mention that in the front was an award they received for best pancakes so I couldn't wait to try them. The menu is very impressive. I ordered the veggie melt sandwich and it was so delicious. I got a side of red cabbage which was also delicious! My husband got an omelette with buffalo sausage and I ordered a three stack of pancakes... one buttermilk, one blueberry, and one pecan. They were so good! So I give this restaurant five stars for good food, good service and the quality of the food is so natural and fresh. I will definitely be going back :)

Starting off with the Rosemary Maple Whiskey Sour

Been wanting to traipse up to Yellow Springs for quite some time after not having been there in AGES. Started off with a cocktail: Rosemary Maple Whiskey Sour that was AMAZING!!! Their menu was expansive with breakfast, lunch, and dinner served all day. I had Ranchos Heuvos. (Scrambled Eggs) that had more black beans then I had ever seen in that entree. It was JUST OKAY. Sunrise Cafe is an eclectic little college town cafe. The waitress was very nice and engaging, and overall I have no complaints about this spot. Would I do it again? Probably not, because as expansive as the menu was, the food just wasn't all that great.

Neat little place with unique menu. I ordered salmon with lavender and honey, broccoli and polenta. Had a pomegranate cosmopolitan. I wanted to order chocolate bourbon pecan pie but I was too full.

Came on a Wednesday around 10am and had no wait at all! We were seated right away in a cute booth, and our waitress was super friendly and helpful in explaining menu items. We started with some mimosas -- my first time trying one, and it was delicious. Our meals were all fairly quick coming out. We ordered an arrangement of things, and they all came out perfectly. I got the chocolate bread french toast and wasn't sure what to expect, but it was amazing! I got a biscuit on the side which was heavenly but too much food (not a bad problem to have!). They even gave a little jar of strawberry jam on the side. My brother got the pancakes that were straight off the griddle with perfect crispy edges. Interestingly enough, they give little cups of melted butter to pour over the food, but don't worry, they have syrup for the table too. I would definitely return!

Other choices seem smart - the oil the fries were cooked in must have been "healthier" as that is the best I've ever felt after eating fries! The waiter seemed to take my allergy/sensitivity seriously, though he didn't know all the things that are GF. Cons: Choices in flavor profile: the burger's flavor composition was sour/vinegar, which did not lend itself to the actual flavor of the organic beef. Yes, us Americans like sweet things all too often, but it didn't jive. Would have been better with a gouda or a Moroccan spice profile. Not true to menu - the fries were not herbed. Just plain ol' fries. The price of the tea seemed quite high, think it was $6? If you're looking for a burger, go to The Wildflower Cafe in Mason. If you're in the area of Yellow Springs, and want a healthier option, go to Winds Cafe.

There were a few options for thanksgiving including some pizzas and salmon. My girlfriend opted for the glazed salmon which came with rice and asparagus but she substituted the asparagus with mashed potatoes. I had their Thanksgiving fare which included turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans. We ordered the Avocado Deviled Eggs for an appetizer. The Avocado Deviled Eggs were delicious, slightly tart, and had a salsa flavor. We really liked them. My girlfriend really liked her salmon. The portion was a really nice size. My thanksgiving meal was delicious. The turkey was really good, mashed potatoes were nice and creamy, and the green beans were cooked just right. Green beans a lot of times have a tendency to be overcooked where they are a little soggy or undercooked where they are too raw. These were cooked just right. The stuffing was good but a little dry. But I'm not really a stuffing guy. For dessert I had the tiramisu which was in small jar topped with some strawberries! It was also and a great way to end the meal. My girlfriend had the Dark Chocolate Terrine. She said it was dense and rich in chocolate flavor. We did check out the outdoor area after we ate. This would be a really nice place to eat outside in the spring or summer. There was an igloo-style structure you could eat in during colder months. I giving this establishment five stars. We had a 3:30 pm reservation, arrived at 3:00 pm and were immediately seated. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly and the food was really good. It's a trendy restaurant with clean restrooms and this would be an ideal place to eat at with friends and family. It has a casual vibe, not overly classy but still special. Drink options were plentiful and we had a lot of fun! Highly recommended!

The rice wasn't cooked properly so it was hard. I wanted to like this dish more...I think the traditional pairing of short rib w mashed potatoes would have been better) -Deviled eggs (3/5; these are mixed w avocado which makes them unique.
