After hearing from several people that oil quality and filters used during standard oil changes aren't always the best, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I bought high-quality full synthetic oil and a premium filter and started calling around to see if any shops would let me bring my own parts. Many places wouldn't allow it at all, and some that did still charged over $100 just for labor. That's where Manjit at Sunoco came in. I called a day ahead and was told to come in early--which worked perfectly. This was actually my second visit to this location (the first was for a tire puncture), and once again, the experience was great. Manjit and the team were friendly, professional, and efficient. The whole process took about 20 minutes, and I was able to get to work with time to spare. What stood out most was their willingness to accommodate and the level of service they provided. Brought my car there for state inspection. The new inspector there failed it because he said it should have two rear dog lights (when it was made with only one). This caused me to go to Mercedes to have it checked where they confirm it should only have one rear fog light. He's also slow as molasses (I was the first car in line and was there for an hour) I had the car re-inspected at Mercedes and it passed. This used to be a great place but with this new inspector, I'll never be back. He needs to go back to school and learn more about cars. read more

If I could give this station 0 stars, I would. All I needed was a state inspection for a travel trailer. The Virginia DMV will tell you that every inspection station is supposed to inspect everything that requires an inspection in Virginia. So, I called a week ago just to make sure that they could do an inspection on a travel trailer. They said they could. In fact, I asked twice and they insisted that they could. So, this Saturday, after driving 50 miles to get my travel trailer from its storage location and bring it to this inspection station (convenient to home), they told me that they couldn't do it. The technician told me I had to take it to a dealer. He also said the guy up front doesn't know what he's talking about. I don't know, but if I were running a business, I would want to make sure that the guy upfront knows what he's talking about. This was a lesson in frustration today. Don't go here for an inspection. It's a bunch of Scam artists My car was running perfectly normal, with no problems at all when I took it in for its annual inspection. I fully expected it to pass, which it did without a problem. On the ONE MILE drive home from the inspection, a terrible screeching noise starts coming out from under the hood. The noise doesn't stop, so I take it in and suddenly it's $700 to fix the enharmonic balancer pulley. $700 to fix something when my car was just fine before their 'inspection' (more like sabotage). Furthermore, my mom was told she needed to replace a light in her cars cabin, but that she'd have to come back another day so they could order the right part for the job. When she was leaving, a worker told her he fixed the light and asked for a "cash tip of appreciation" so that he wouldn't have to keep "eating out of cans". Very shady and I would avoid this place at all costs. read more

Amazing customer service!!! I had to drive across the street from Exxon with a flat tire because the people at Exxon across the street were so rude. I thought that I had to get my spare tire put on and that I would need to buy a new tire but Sunoco looked at my tire and told me that they could patch it. Sunoco helped me immediately and was able to patch my flat tire in less than 5 minutes! They were so nice to me and they did an excellent job patching my tire and getting me on my way. They knew I had my 2 year old son with me so they made sure to get me in and out fast! I cannot thank them enough for their amazing work! The could have charged me whatever they wanted since I was in a bind but they didn't take advantage of me and the price was more than reasonable! A+++++ read more

Never bring your car here. I came for a basic oil change. The genius put on the wrong oil filter and put it on upside down. When I tried to get my money back he insisted I was wrong and wouldn't refund my money. They can't perform the most basic of services. I can only imagine how bad they would screw up a serious engine issue. read more

Let's be honest. I went in some time ago for a minor repair/ tune-up. This is a small garage for "quick" repairs. Nothing major (transmission/ exhaust/ serious engine issues). Took a vehicle in to find a problem. Little did they know, I'm a mechanic. Why didn't I do the work myself you ask? I wanted to check and see how honest they were. I'm an ASE certified mechanic, not sure about all their 'mechanics'. Am I a super-duper genius when it comes to cars? no, I'll admit, but I've been doing 15 years of work and learned a whole hell-of-a-lot. I won't say what i went in for to protect myself, but they tried to overcharge me 600%. strike one. Their "mechanic" ran a diagnostic on the car (charged for that too). Told me later when I went to look at the 'spec' sheet, and I quote: "the diagnostic tool doesn't tell us what's wrong, we're the mechanics here, we know what it is." so in a nutshell, they lied (at least to me) about what was wrong with the car. Strike two. Ok, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe it's something 'deeper' and more serious (which I know it's not). So what are they going to do about it? Balls in their court. "Mechanic": "You also need an "induction service." Me:"What's that?" "Mechanic": "It cleans the valves and helps the engine run 'better'. Me: "So you're going to charge $150 to put an additive in my fuel tank (Which is NOT recommended by the car manuf.). Let me guess "Is it BG44K?" Mechanic turned away and nodded: "yes" Strike three. I'm no fool ladies and gentleman. This shop is running a classic scam and selling hopes and dreams. I'm not here to advertise the shop I work for. The point I'm making (If you read the whole review), find somewhere else to take you're vehicle. Save your dignity, and go somewhere that actually knows what they're doing instead of trying to screw you over. Another reviewer here ran into problems trying to get a simple inspection, that's embarrassing on Sunoco's part. They haven't a clue what they're doing, and plan on overcharging customers just because they're located in McLean and people have deep pockets. Shame on them. read more

For state inspection, was told that brake pads needed to be replaced and it should be done now. I declined. When I took the car to another repair shop and told them the brake pads needed to be replaced, the repair shop said the pads still had 10,000 miles to go. read more

Started going to them about 3 years ago for non-dealer repairs. Great service at very reasonable rates. For instance, I had a timing belt replaced there for about $200 less than the dealer quoted. The owner is friendly and accomodating. Nice neighborhood service. read more
