Due to a Honda recall, I dropped my car off across the street at the Honda dealership. I received a call saying my timing belt was rotted, I had multiple oils leaks, water pump problems, and more! All totaling about $2,900. I promptly called Schmitz's on the recommendation of a coworker and explained the situation. Al assured me that I could bring it by when Honda was done and he would review the quote and give me an honest answer on what my car actually needed. Later that afternoon, I dropped my car off and went over the list with Al. He went out with me to take a look under the hood, kindly showing me that my car doesn't even have a timing belt! The serpentine belt and timing chain were clearly fine. I went back to work and got a call about an hour later with a recommendation on two things to fix now and a couple to keep an eye out on over the next two years. It was fixed by the end of the day. He could have taken Honda's quote and said yep that is all true and charged me just a little less. But instead Al took the time to show and explain, thoroughly "diagnose" my car, and handle it all in a couple of hours. By the way, it cost me less than $500. I will 100% be back when my car needs it.

We agreed that because the parking lot is small, I'd swing the car over to have them look at it so they could order the parts Saturday- stopped in and someone I've never seen before essentially refused to look at my broken mirror. Saying "well I can tell you now you need a new mirror" ironic considering he hadn't step foot from behind the counter. As he was "too busy" LUCKILY A SHOP WASNT "TOO BUSY"- walked out of there vowing to never go back and called another shop in Falls Church. The gentleman said "bring it on by. Happy to look at it" went to that shop and the nice guy not only looked at it but showed me the parts online to order (spoiler I don't need a new mirror) so I could save money from buying through a dealer. He then went as far as to remove the hanging pieces so they wouldn't damage the paint In conclusion- Schmitz managed to lose out on a broken mirror (purchase and replacement) fixing the cable for the gas tank, oil change, emissions and state inspection, and a car wash all because the guy "was too busy" I suggest finding other places that value customers

Their disclaimers of "European, luxury vehicles, large SUVs and pick-up trucks MAY REQUIRE an additional fee" are not a "may," they are a DEFINITE as well as additional fees then for the oil filter. I advised them that they should announce the actual charges that should be in the disclaimer and not a vague "may." Getting in to get the oil change was also an adventure. Called nonstop without anyone picking up the phone so it took a trip to the station to have them tell me they can't get to me, come back another time but make sure you call first. OK, but calling gets nowhere. Anyway, I decide to return to the station on another day and get there at 8AM when they supposedly open. Nope, I was told the mechanic was not around, won't be here for another 1/2 hour. After giving all my information I went to the waiting room where I sat and could see the mechanic just hanging out and not working. And by waiting room I mean what is several gambling machines jammed into a closet with 2 chairs. All together I was in and out in two hours, I didn't think they were going to rotate the tires as was part of the package, they did, but they did not check the tire pressure and set them to what they should be as the have an offset from front to back. The Multi-point Inspection that was also part of the package was ignored. Also, looking at the receipt show they used the wrong oil viscosity. So an extra $35 for the vehicle, extra $$$ for the oil filter and then an additional $14.99 per quart for each of the extra quarts meant a sizable upcharge on top of what was already paid for the basic oil change. So let this be a lesson that getting a Groupon deal might not always lead to the savings you'd think.
