Agree with the previous reviewers postings that this is a restaurant for fresh dumplings with helpful and friendly service in a clean and casual setting. Our group of six shared a variety of flavorful dishes and juicy dumplings.
They still have the BOGO Pork Xiao Long Bao promotion as of March 2026. We had visitors over, and they also liked to try Xiao Long Bao, so we took them to our neighborhood XLB place. We ordered the following items: - Cucumber with Garlic as an appetizer -2 orders Pork Xiao Long Bao (9 pcs) BOGO (total 4 orders because 2 orders were free) - Chinese Braised Pork Belly -Pan Fried Chive & Pork Dumplings -Pan Fried Shrimp & Pork Dumplings (12 pcs) -Beef Roll Pancake -Beef Stew Noodle Soup -Chocolate Lava XLB Our party had 8 people. The servers were friendly, and the service was attentive. We were served the complimentary peanuts when we were seated, and then the orders came out quickly. Each order of Pork Xiao Long Bao had 9 pieces, so we had a total of 36 pieces. They were juicy and flavorful, but the skin was a bit thicker this time. Then we had the pan-fried chive & pork dumplings and shrimp & pork dumplings. We liked the chive & pork ones more than the shrimp & pork because they were more flavorful. The beef Roll pancakes were yummy, but I did not like cilantro. Beef Stew noodle soup was decent, but the beef could be thicker, though. The Chinese Braised Pork Belly was worth the wait; the flavor was on point. Lastly, we were satisfied with the interesting chocolate Lava XLB; it was not my favorite because I prefer savory XLB, but it was fun to try, and my daughters liked it. They automatically added a 18% service charge for parties of 6 or more, which is fair.

I went here because my boyfriend recommended it, and it definitely did not disappoint! From the moment we walked in, everyone was so welcoming and friendly. The owner was incredibly kind, made small talk with us, and even gave us a free sample of their boba milk tea, which was such a thoughtful touch. The food was absolutely amazing. It honestly reminded me of the food I had in China because everything tasted so authentic and flavorful. Every dish we ordered was fresh, delicious, and cooked perfectly. You can really tell they put a lot of care into the food. The prices are also very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. They even have a great promotion going on right now where you get one free order of xiao long bao per table, which is an awesome bonus! The customer service was just as impressive as the food. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and made us feel welcome throughout our meal. Overall, this was an easy 10/10 experience. I'll definitely be coming back and recommending this place to my friends and family. If you're looking for authentic, delicious food with amazing service, you have to give this place a try!
Great atmosphere and very clean. Staff was cheerful and courteous. They were very helpful and friendly. We ordered the Xiao Ling Bao (soup dumplings). They had a BOGO special if you buy any of the XLB's you get the pork XLB for free ($12.99 value). These were delicious. I also ordered the pork belly with garlic sauce appetizer. I didn't know it was served cold. Also very spicy and pork was dry. I was not impressed with this dish and will not order it in the future. Ordered the Wok fried Sweet & Sour chicken which was delicious and also ordered regular shrimp and pork dumplings. I think I would stick with the XLB choices. My nephew ordered some beef noodle soup and gave me a taste. Yeah, no, as in no flavor. Pass on the noodle soup for me. For dessert the cornbread bao was not sugary sweet but nice. I don't think it is much of a dessert though. Overall I had a good experience but not sure if I would go here again since it is out of my way. Lots of parking.
We dined in for lunch as they have an enticing buy-one-get-one free deal for xiao long bao per table. We ordered pork xiao long bao ($12.99 for nine pieces), dan dan noodles ($10.99), beef stew noodle soup ($12.99), and chicken fried rice ($12.99). Portions here are filling, and our server asked if we wanted extra bowls to share our soup and noodle dishes. Out of all our dishes, I enjoyed the soup dumplings and fried rice the most. The dumplings were in stacked steamers and nicely hot at first. They do cool down once you open the lid. The dumpling wrapping was sturdy, and the soup was deliciously savory. This paired well with the chicken fried rice. It had a nicely firm texture with a good amount of meat. The dan dan noodles had a thick and spicy peanut-based sauce. The beef stew noodle soup was my least favorite dish. It a little salty, and the noodles were too soft for my liking. Although these two dishes were spicy as confirmed by the server, they were just right for me. The restaurant has more options, so I might try something different for next time. Overall, the food was great here, and I'd like to come back if I'm ever craving dumplings. Paying basically $13 for 18 pieces of fresh xiao long bao was a great deal. The ambience is a nice balance between fancy and casual. I enjoyed the ambience as the restaurant was tidy with relaxing music playing in the background. By the entrance, staff prepared dumplings in an open part of the kitchen. It also looked like the restaurant was once a spot to eat hot pot as there were stovetops and range hoods at each table.
Sunny Dumpling House is a new restaurant located in Walnut and specializes as the name says dumplings. You can see the staff members making fresh dumplings on the left side and in the frozen freezers of the right you can actually buy them for take-out. Sadly though every dumpling was with pork and the vegetarian that I had tried was just filled with rice. Wish it were with some type of vegetables instead of rice for a shu mai or dumpling style. Many other places have options where they just do fish dumplings without pork or vegetarian dumplings that are filled with mushrooms and random vegetables. The scallion pancake though was pretty good and also the beef roll, but it was slightly smaller in size.
Excelente place for great dumpling Went here with a friend after hitting the Vons next door and this spot surprised us in the best way. Classic cozy Chinese vibe, super clean, and you can actually watch them wrapping and steaming everything right behind the counter -- low‑key mesmerizing. Pork soup dumplings were the star: thin skin, super juicy inside, you get that fresh pork flavor without the greasy heaviness, really hit the spot. We also tried the wontons in chili oil, nice kick but still flavorful, not just blasting your tongue for no reason. Staff were chill, patient, helped us pick a few things and didn't rush even though it's fast‑casual. Grabbed a bag of frozen dumplings to cook at home too, pretty clutch for late‑night cravings. Definitely coming back when the dumpling mood strikes again.
Solid spot in Walnut for a casual meal, especially if you're coming get their Xiao long bao and scallion pancakes. Pancake is very thin and tasty. Beef rolls great

Came here for a Sunday lunch. The place was pretty busy but we got seated right away, which was nice. We ordered the chow mein with beef, the beef rolls, and their juicy pork xiao long bao. The chow mein was alright, pretty standard, a little too salty for me. My kid wasn't complaining though, he polished off a big plate. I will say the portion felt a bit small for what it cost; only a few pieces of beef in there. The beef roll was much better. The sauce was slightly sweet and made the whole dish really flavorful and balanced. The xiao long bao were on a buy-one-get-one deal, which was awesome value. They took a bit to come out, but when they did, they were piping hot and tasted really fresh. They also brought out some complimentary cold dishes while we waited, which was a nice touch. Service was a bit slow, but we weren't in a rush so it was okay. Now, I have to mention an incident that happened. Right after we sat down, the waitress was very nice and brought a kids plate and utensil for our 3-year-old son. We thought that was great, until we realized the fork was way too sharp. Our son was just messing with it and before we knew it, he'd nicked himself and his chin and hands were bloody. It was a real shock how fast it happened. We let the waitress know and she was apologetic and took the fork and plate right away. Later, she brought us two steamed buns as an apology, which we appreciated. But honestly, that's the kind of accident that just shouldn't happen with kid-friendly utensils. Just a heads-up for other parents, maybe bring your own or check the fork first.
The dumplings were super good! The soup was nicely flavored and the dumpling skin was thick enough to not let the soup burst out. I also got the beef chow mein and it was flavorful, but the noodles were a little different than I was expecting. The noodles were thinner than other restaurants, but it was filling and well cooked. There was a nice added crunch with the vegetables. It was a nice first try. I'll be coming back! read more

Dumplings galore. Cucumbers are slightly mala so if you like that it's good. Peanuts are also mala. Soups yummy and the so are the soup dumplings. Definitely a hidden gem. The cabbage was my favorite! A must try! The Dan Dan mien was decent. I will be back for the green onion pancakes and cabbage. Ambiance is very red. Gives off old fashioned Chinese restaurant vibes. Service is like most Asian places. They were nice. read more

Authentic and delicious food! Tried the beef noodle soup and pork xiao long bao. The xiao long baos are packed with pork and juicy. They're also buy one, get one free when you dine in! Super good deal, overall majority of the food here is well priced for the area. Service is very attentive and the restaurant is clean & spacious. Lots of parking outside too. What a newish spot serving up some freshly made dumplings. They have a new concept here where you cook your own Xiao Long Baos on top of a hotpot. It was pretty interesting, we waited 8 minutes for the soup to boil on top of the heating pad than another 8 minutes for our XLB to fully cook. Turned out delicious and juicy. We ended up trying out a bunch of stuff and these are my thoughts. Cucumber with Garlic - Thought these were okay. I mean it's cucumbers. I've had better though. (3.5/5) Xiao Long Bao - They are good, juicy and quite flavorful. Fun way to eat especially cooking them yourselves. (4.5/5) Spicy Wonton - IMO the wontons could use a bit more sauce. It was a bit light and not too spicy. I've had better but overall not bad. (3.5/5) Sauteed String Beans - Perfectly cooked and had good flavor. This veggie is worth it. (4.5/5) Dan Dan Noodles - So this is hit or miss. The peanut flavor is VERY strong, if you like nutty flavors you'd enjoy this. Personally for me I loved it, but my wife did not. (4/5) Assorted Fried Rice - This had tons of ingredients in it and it tasted good, quite buttery. I enjoyed it. (4.5/5) Hotpot - So this came with cooking the XLB. The soup was pretty bland (which they told us and gave us salt). We also got corn (wouldn't recommend this, its the starchy one), beef, napa cabbage, and hotpot sauce (sesame sauce). It's a fun concept but not entirely sure how I feel about it. It's good nonetheless but also kind of unnecessary. (4/5) I like the innovation at this spot, and I get where it's going but also not entirely sure how I feel about it. The food is good, prices are very reasonable at around $10-$15 per dish for reasonably portions. Service is also very attentive and friendly. Definitely a spot to checkout in the city of Walnut for delicious dumplings! read more

Walked in to place a to go order. The workers greet you right when you walk in. The staff is very friendly. Restaurant is clean. While waiting for my order they gave me a complimentary lemon iced tea. They have frozen dumplings to take home & cook for yourself. Prices are great! Food - dumplings & fried rice were tasty. Our first time here. Nice, well lit and clean restaurant. Service was wonderful. Friendly and prompt. The xiao long bao were flavorful, juicy and SCORCHING HOT (as it should be)! They have a promotion right now, PER TABLE, buy one order of their xiao long bao, and get one free! Whoa. Everybody loved the xiao long bao so much, that we had to order another order. Disclaimer: Husband's a big DTF fan. Compared to DTF and Thumbling, these XLBs wrappings were on the "thicker" side. HOWEVER, both kids and husband enjoyed the flavor of their XLB so much that they had to order a THIRD serving, so take that for what it's worth. The beef stew noodle soup was hot, spicy and super flavorful l. If you like mala flavor, then this is for you. The beef was thinly sliced and super tender. The noodles were cooked perfectly, al dente. This dish was a hit. The assorted fried rice was delicious! Perfectly seasoned and decent amount of protein in the mix. Plenty of parking in front of the restaurant. Overall, we enjoyed our visit. There'll definitely be a round two just to confirm whether this will be added to our dining rotation. Oh, last thing. Authentic Chinese spot with various dumplings and other noodle/rice dishes. Came here for dinner with my mom and we got the chicken fried rice, hot and sour soup, and pork and veggie dumplings in chili sauce. The food came our fairly quickly and you can watch them make dumplings in the front. They have frozen dumplings for sale. The food was all good and we had leftovers which kept well the following day. They provided complimentary peanuts to start and I really enjoyed the seasoning on them. Plenty of free parking and they do accept credit cards. read more

Hope they improve on their xlb. Their xlb is just okay. The flavor is good, but very little pork juice and the skin is on the thicker side that would stick to your teeth, and it's on the smaller side. I also ordered their green onion pancake (good) and spicy pig ear (very good). Will come back again to try other dishes. Complimentary peanuts is nice. read more

I believe this dumpling house replaced the old Big Rice next to Vons and Chase. I'm so glad to have another great dumpling house near me, and this one really stands out. The juicy pork XLBs are heavenly, the skin is a bit different from normal XLB, but I love it, they're chewier. There is so much juice in each bao and the broth is so sweet. Also ordered spicy wontons, I LOVE the chili oil here. I'm not a fan of chili crisp/chunks of chili, so this chili oil was perfect for me. It's chili infused oil, so you get all the spice and flavor without biting any chili or chili seeds. The photo I took was before mixing, with the chili oil at the bottom. The beef noodle stew is on the lighter side, but it was still very delicious! The choy was perfectly cooked and the noodles are a great texture. They warned me that the beef noodles were spicy, but it was on the more mild side for me if you have low spice tolerance it won't be a problem. Service was quick and we also received a voucher for free wontons on our second visit! I'm excited to come back soon. Inside is very spacious and they can accommodate larger parties as well. Prices are reasonable and maybe even a bit lower when compared to other dumpling houses, just going off of my memory. Please give this dumpling house a visit!! 10/10 read more

At first glance, the restaurant seemed very clean and traditional looking. Before seating, the servers warned us that service was going to be delayed a little because of the high volume of people. In reality, the service wasn't too slow but definitely could see they were busy. The food was overall pretty good! They started with mala peanuts that had a nice kick. It was an exciting change from the typical salted peanuts. The sautéed green beans tasted different from other places (a little sweeter), but still enjoyable. The Dan Dan noodles and spicy wontons were great and not too spicy (which I enjoyed since my spice tolerance is not too high). The fried rice had a nice flavor and good amount as well. The soup dumplings had a good flavor but not consistent since some dumplings had little to no soup compared to others. Finally the pork moon cake had a flaky crust with well seasoned interior. Overall, I had a great experience and the food was delicious with a reasonable price! Would definitely return again to try other dishes. read more
Came here during their grand opening special and got free XLBs for each person in our party! They tasted very good, even better because they were free! Nice interior with lots or room/tables. The workers here are very friendly. We ordered several dishes and all were very good. Beef noodle soup had a good broth and portion size. Beef could be more tender, but still good. The pan fried pork dumplings were juicy, flavorful, and had a nice outside crust. They also give complimentary salted peanuts, which I love. Unfortunately our previous place for dumplings, Queens Kitchen, is gone. But this place is a good replacement. We'll be visiting again! read more

First time trying this place on a Sunday late afternoon. My iPhone map app says the restaurant opens at 4:30pm, but it's actually opens at 5pm. So, somebody needs to fix it. We were the first customer tonight. Server is nice and friendly, trying to explain to us how the menu works. She gave us a jar of cold water and two cups. We placed our order. She gave us a small plate of seasoned peanuts while we wait for our food. Very tasty and has Sichuan peppercorn flavor, not too spicy. Food arrived relatively fast. Everything is delicious. Wontons in spicy oil is a little too salty in the stuffing itself, but it's not overly spicy so I enjoyed it. Green onion pancake is very interesting and flaky delicious. The bao we got is also delicious and flavorful. Server checked on us couple times. Price was reasonable. Considered we had 4 dishes and costs $46. Next time we'll try the hot pot and the self steam dumplings. read more

This is a cute little dumpling spot in Walnut! They are in the Vons Plaza on Lemon and La Puente Rd. My friend and I went for an early dinner (5:00pm). They were not busy at all. We were greeted at the door and seated immediately. The restaurant is very spacious and clean. Their menu is simple with a few items in each category. We ordered the pork XLB, chives and pork pan-fried dumplings, garlic cucumber, and green onion pancake. Everything came out piping hot! The pork XLB had a thin delicate skin and a bit of tasty broth, but it was overall average. The chives and pork dumplings were quite tasty! These also had a thinner and chewier skin. The filling was seasoned well, but I noticed both of the dumplings were smaller than other dumpling spots. The garlic cucumber was refreshing, and the shredded green onion pancake was enjoyable. They currently use disposable fork/spoons and chopsticks. I hope they will upgrade to using soup spoons for my next visit. We'll be back! read more

this place is amazing, offers a variety of northern Chinese dishes. Standouts were the silken tofu century egg appetizer with an addictive sauce and the salt and pepper chicken wings that were oh so crispy and juicy. The xiao long bao deal right now is an absolute steal and the quality beats din tai fungs by far. Will definitely be coming back to try more dishes! Always great to welcome another dumpling spot to the neighborhood. Located in a shopping center with a huge parking lot is a plus. The owners have an OG location on Colima next to GW supermarket that sells steamed buns but this spot has all the other steamed/pan fried wonders the other spot doesn't. This spot just opened so I couldn't give it anything less than 4 stars.. there is definitely room for improvement. My partner and I ordered the following: Juicy pork Xiao long bao ($10.99) Dan Dan noodles ($9.99) Napa cabbage and pork pan fried dumplings ($12.99) String beans ($10.99) Great prices for the quality of the food that's for sure. The pan fried dumplings were our favorite. There was also a complimentary plate of peanuts. My only complain is with the XLB; skin is slightly too chewy and there's not enough soup. The other dishes were decent no complaints. Unsure if I'd go back considering how good competitors are. read more
