The pizza is better than most others in the area, except for La Mesa Pizzawerks, but they have odd hours that never seem to work out for us. Over the last year Surf Rider has been our go to pizza spot but several times over the past few months the wait just isn't worth it. The wings are good and the ranch is stellar. Unfortunately, tonight might have been the night that did it for us. We called our order in for a pizza (5:15), knots, and some ranch and were told 20 minutes. We swung by on the way home from the park (about 5:35) and my wife ran in to pick it up. She paid and got told 5 minutes, no big deal, but 5 minutes turned to 10, then 15, then 20. At this point she came to the car to tell me and check in on me and our hungry toddler. She went back in and the pizza was ready a few minutes later, but no knots. Just another few minutes, but they hands 6 knots to someone who ordered just a minute ago. The knots come out quickly and we leave (6:02). We get home (less than 5 minutes away) to find the knots were cold and the pizza was soggy and floppy. We had to throw it all in the toaster oven a few slices at a time to even attempt to enjoy it. We order pizza for the convenience, but generally, this isnt convenient. I get being busy, but sometimes you just have that experience that draws a line, unfortunately, this was that for us. If you want to come and have a few drinks and a slice, this spot would probably be fine for you. Dinner to go, or a whole 'za just isn't really the move.

Drove by this place with my wife and decided to stop by since it was early in the morning and needed some coffee. My wife asked for a croissant sandwich which was pictured on the window. The woman there stated she didn't have the stuff needed to make those. Mind you this was around 8 am or so. We settled down at the bar area and ordered two coffees. Mine regular, hers vanilla decaf. The woman reached out and grabbed two nearly empty pots of coffee. And served our coffee, handed my wife some creamer. We ordered some over delicious donuts which we were told were not made at this location. Thank goodness. Looking around this place we noticed how filthy the floors were, as we were taking all this in, a man walked in and talked to the cashier about a container of milk he had just bought from them, he said it was rancid. Even made a comment about how someone else had left their milk outside in the parking lot as well because it was bad. The 'baker' come out from the back and in a sort of hostile way, told the man that they could not do anything about it since they only sell the milk and have no idea if the milk is bad. The customer said, look at the date it, its not supposed to be expired yet. They didn't offer him any refund. Surely $2 in refund is not bad as opposed to losing 3 customers. My wife and I included. Next the woman takes the two coffee pots (orange and black) and pours them to make one nearly empty pot of coffee. I'm sorry, I was just drinking what I thought was decaf! At this point another family walks in and takes a seat. They order regular coffee and she pours them this mix. My wife and I looked at each other and decided we should leave. Neither one finished our coffees. Needless to say we will not be returning. read more

Really delicious donuts and they have a great selection here! The donuts were fresh out of the oven and I even had chance to sample a couple before buying them. They were all very delicious. One of the stops was Mary's donuts in Santee. I had originally asked if they had plain donuts and she said no with a rude tone. I kept my composure and said okay. I selected the glazed old fashioned to replace the plain donuts she said they did not have. This woman was an older woman behind the counter . Right after she told me that, a younger girl also was working there but she was on the sales floor, and I have no idea what she was doing but she said check in the back there and that she saw plain donuts. So, the woman goes to get the plain donuts and I also told her I needed the crumb donut holes. She said what loudly since she didn't hear me. But instead of loudly saying what why wouldn't you ask a customer can you please repeat what you said . Is that asking too much to have manners when dealing with customers? I don't think so. I was taught to have manners and I always hope if you go to a business to spend money the workers will be grateful and nice. Well, this was not the treatment received today. So,she puts the doughnuts in the bags, one bad for the regular plain ones and the other bag for the donut holes . I decide to have a few of the donut holes, but when I looked in my bag they were glazed donut holes and not the crumb that I had asked for two times while she said what to me instead of excuse me can you repeat it. I was so darn upset, I walked out! I will never be coming back to the Santee location again. This treatment was unacceptable! She is not representing Mary's donuts in a way the owner, Mary would be proud . In a competitive world of donuts, I can go anywhere but had chosen this place. I will go elsewhere next time.
