The yippies of Berkeley strike again . Only on Fourth Street will you find hippies with money who…read morethink they are better than you...no matter who you are because you know they are crunchy still and drive an EV. I will never shop here again. I'd much rather deal with the folks of San Ramon or Marin, the Peninsula for crying out loud, shoot even dog eat dog San Jose; just not this location! Let's be honest here, Warby Parker isn't meant for the simple, "I'm using my vision insurance for glasses kind of purchase." Instead, it's a moderate to expensive store for fashionable glasses and it's meant to serve the markets they populate, I'm no fool. However, I do love fashion and didn't mind the à la carte style here, so we bought two pairs of glasses from Fourth Street's Warby Parker. When I found the glasses originally, I was in San Ramon and I was helped by a wonderful salesperson whose name I unfortunately forgot. Once I had my prescription I went to the Berkeley store, out of convenience; big mistake! Especially, since the first salesperson in Berkeley confused me and apparently herself with my prescription, (progressive), and I ultimately ended up with single vision lenses, Instead of progressive. Something I was told only when I returned to a second salesperson in Berkeley Let me tell you about this second salesperson though, cause they were quite rude and judgmental. In fact they seemed to assume I made my purchasing decisions based on cost. No, no, I made my decisions based on confusion! In fact even after a second salesperson and two opticians I am still unhappy and will make sure I go back to corporate with these comments to make sure I get EXACTLY what I need and want. The first optician was nice, but super fast and didn't say much; so I was again a bit confused. The second optician was more verbal but just as rude as the second salesperson. Other than that, Warby Parker is cute.

I have purchased glasses from here before and have always liked the selection of frames. They have lasted about a year and so, which shows good quality! The eye exam was quick and easy to book. There were plenty of appointment times available, but it is best to book ahead. The service was great, and the entire process from the exam to purchasing what I needed was smooth and efficient.

Everyone at this store is amazing -- helpful and knowledgeable, and not at all pushy or pretentious. It's a joy to explore the carefully curated products. While I'm here, I'd like to comment on the 1 star review by Alan. I happened to have been present on the day of this conflict and it lives in my memory as one of the creepiest and most uncomfortable retail interactions I've ever witnessed. Alan was rude, patronizing and deeply inappropriate as he attempted to intimidate the store manager, who held her own with impressive grace and strength. There were several customers in the shop that night, and it seemed that most were unwilling to leave until we knew that the manager and her staff were safe. We were relieved when security arrived. Kudos to the manager for her poise under pressure, her commitment to protecting her staff, and unwillingness to give in to his attempts to intimidate or take the bait of engaging with his review.

Well this is pretty much the equivalent to that. I mean literally I can find everything that Topdrawer sell for a lot less. I don't mind buying quality items and I do but not from this establishment. Doesn't help that the staff there are rude.. is it part of the atmosphere to justify the price. Let's act rude to everyone and pretend that the items here are too good for them so they want to buy it even more..

OwlNWood is a boutique filled with stylish leather handbags, clutches, wallets, jewelry, and…read moreseveral racks of unique designed garments. Browsing through the racks of kitschy tees and scarves made me feel as though I was on a scavenger hunt looking for clandestine treasure. The walls of OwlNWood are smartly decorated with a thought-provoking vintage record collection for patron's to feast their eyes upon, which included albums from Diana Ross, The Mamas and The Papas, and Marvin Gaye. And directly behind the check out counter is a floor to ceiling photo of Jimi Hendrix hanging on the wall. The second floor at OwlNWood contains a variety of gently used wares. The walls are adorned with urban stitched tapestries and another floor to ceiling photo of Joan Jett (I hope I got that right -- please see in the pics I attached.) I noticed several Jadeite bake ware pieces, a Bower bowl, serving trays and vases in olive green and orange, and the most comfy gently used crushed leather high back swivel office chair ever. OwlNWood is quite a find for t hose of you who enjoy consignment shopping like me. I most definitely will return to this store in the future.

OwlNWood is super cool. I am new to Oakland and the Bay Area (from Brooklyn), so it was so great to…read morefeel welcome and special, considering I'm a "nobody"! The earthy, local, non-corporate feel of the store is right up my alley, (love the iPad checkout, pay anywhere in the shop, wireless!). Immediately I knew that I MUST bring my girlfriend, a local vintage wine and clothing buyer. On my first visit to the store (been back several times now), I met Rachel, (pronounced Raah-kel). She is the owner and designer who put together such an array of local, artist/design collaborations, men's apparel, local art and jewelry, not to mention carefully selected accessories and vintage clothing. International brands are top quality here. I walked out with not just 1, but 2, pairs of SuperRetroFuture sunglasses (made in Italy!), for me and my special lady. ONW has a selection of SRF eye-wear that is unparalleled ANYWHERE! Trust me, I have searched far and wide, not even NYC's own Steven Alan can compete with the hand selected styles at ONW. That said, I fully support local artists and brands as a consumer and upcoming local jeweler myself! I couldn't resist to purchase a comfortable and elegant athletic sweatshirt from "Below The Surface" AKA BTS, a Bay Area based upscale urban apparel brand. Rachel was gracious enough to introduce me to her BTS vendor rep, who was extra enthusiastic about my purchase from his line. To top it all off, Rachel and her BTS vendor both invited me to an upcoming event hosted by OakStreetStyle fashion blog introducing OwlNWood 1st Look-book of 2013! OMG. The event was hella fun (yes, HELLA) and everyone working for ONW made me feel that much more at home. My significant other and personal stylist, Haley D Alexander, was so stoked about a pair of limited SuperRetroFuture glasses she saw. Naturally I had to buy them from Christian, ONW's swanky staffer and her iPad "Square" register, no paper wasted, just an elegant email receipt! Christian was so discreet in the checkout process, as per my request; Haley D didn't even see me purchase her surprise spectacles! I really walked out feeling like a "somebody". THX Owl N Wood, Rachel, Christian and Cam, for making me feel at home in Oakland :)
