I ordered a sweatsuit from here in March of 2023 for $175 and still have yet to receive a product nor a refund (of which I requested on 5-7 different occasions) from the owner of the company who not only ghosted for months but also recently reached out to hint that the issue would be resolved & yet still has not refunded me. I would steer clear of monetarily supporting this brand moving forward. I absolutely love supporting small businesses but in no way shape or form will I ever condone taking advantage of customers while simultaneously using profits to support your own personal lifestyle.

I always paused or slowed down because of the great window displays but never walked in: I mean, do I need another pair of earrings? Turns out I do! I also needed very chic trousers a bit reminiscent of Katharine Hepburn that I can wear all year. Mercy Vintage is a cool little shop on College Avenue in Rockridge. They have a really interesting…read moreselection of high-quality secondhand clothing, with some genuine vintage pieces mixed in. It's a fun place to browse, and you never quite know what you're going to find. They carry both men's and women's clothing, although there's definitely more women's merchandise. The selection is thoughtfully curated, with a particularly interesting assortment of high-quality denim, heritage workwear, and clothing from some terrific specialty brands like Kapital, Indigofera, Momotaro, Trophy, and The Real McCoy's. They also sometimes have some great boots! There's a nice mix of almost new/contemporary and relatively recent secondhand clothing, along with some genuine vintage pieces. If you appreciate well-made clothing with a little character, there's lots here to enjoy. The store itself is very cool. Stylish interior, attractive displays, and a nice, relaxed atmosphere. They've even got comfortable seating, which is particularly appreciated when your son decides to take his sweet time examining every denim jacket in the store (!!). Prices are on the higher side, but I think they're fair given the quality of the merchandise. This isn't a thrift store, and I wouldn't expect thrift store prices. You're paying for good clothing that's been carefully selected, and I think the value is there. My only minor quibble is parking. Street parking on College Avenue can be a bit of a challenge, especially when the neighborhood is busy. Certainly not their fault, and not a big deal, but worth mentioning. All in all, a really enjoyable place to shop. Interesting merchandise, a nice atmosphere, and plenty of opportunities to find something special. It's worth a visit.

It's Danish-inspired, Oakland born and bred, small batch clothing that Elaine designs and makes in the shop (her workshop is above in the loft). The style is clean without being cold, natural without being pretentious, modern without being rigid. It's part of this Oakland fashion bloom we have going - and is a definitive, and welcome, departure from the herd. Check it out.

Joseph, the co-owner, a pleasant welcoming host, showed us around and told us wonderful stories about the artists and their goods. We'll be back here for sure. A bottle opener handmade by an artist which had the essence of African mud cloth design, Indigenous America, Japan and the Art Deco period, called our name. This brought me to the store to see them in person. It's a charming store on a cute street. It's bright and spacious. The store clerks were very friendly and helpful. Charming, eclectic, beautiful, and always full of unexpected treasures. I always find something special here: beautiful soaps and oils, fun nostalgic T-shirts, and the cutest cat-themed pieces. We've found cat earrings that my daughter absolutely loves seeing me wear, and this time I found the most gorgeous black cat scarf for her. ‍ And of course, I always manage to find something for myself too. This visit it was three camisoles that I can wear under things or on their own, practical and fun at the same time as it takes me back in time. Marty has such a wonderful eye for unique pieces, and every visit feels like a little treasure hunt. It's one of those special Alameda shops that just keeps me happy that I hope doesn't go away!

Really, I thought immediately the place was out of my price range, but a friendly stranger told me I should go look inside, offering that you could do cute date nights and make your own scents here, but then she assured me the place was black owned, and I HAD to at least see what gems were hiding inside. And there were so many! Bath salts you could mix to bring home, an oil scent lab, and all sorts of adorable accessories that caught my eye: lacy socks, perfect for Docs; some earrings at a great price point; and some sunglasses that no one else will be wearing ANYWHERE, for a mere $20! The woman working the store was just so friendly, and told us to cash is Queen in here store, if you know what I mean? But, I've found my favorite place to invest my modest disposable income at when I'm in Alameda. I'll be back to crate an oil scent roller...for $15! That's absurd. And it was sweet the store has my father's name: To Herb With Love. My mom must've been sending me angel messages.
