Why am I sitting here waiting for my glasses to be examined? Why is this the fifth trip I have taken to order, pick up, report problems, pick up and now again report problems with my glasses? Any decent business would prioritize a customer who arrives for the second time reporting problems with their expensive glasses. But not this Lenscrafters in Emeryville. Outside of the doctor, who was really pleasant to work with, some of the staff at LensCrafters were unprofessional and unhelpful. We were told the day before our appointment that our VSP coverage would apply to the frames, but after already paying $75 total ($10 copay each for two eye exams and $55 for the contact lens assessment), we were then told the coverage was only partial. We each had a $300 frame stipend to use, so naturally we were disappointed and felt misled by the inconsistent information. My partner made a private comment to me about it feeling like a waste of time and money. What really left a bad impression was the checkout employee making a sarcastic comment about "just $10" referring to the copay and I'm assuming the comment made by my partner which was not rude in tone or even to her. it wasn't about the amount which she was wrong about -- it was the principle and the experience. The remark was unnecessary, unkind, and unprofessional. If you work in a customer-facing role, professionalism and respect matter, and personal conversations between customers should not be commented on. Mind your business. Lens Crafters was the last place I expected to go for my contact lens exam and purchasing contacts. I'd been going to a couple other places that I liked but I couldn't get in for an eye exam for over a month. Lens Crafters seems to cater to people like me who lose track of prescription expiration dates for contact lenses and have an urgent need for an exam THIS week or they won't be able to see. Lens Crafters is open on Sundays and they accept walk-ins! My reservations were unwarranted. Every interaction from their team was very professional and courteous, from doctor who conducted my exam, to the women who helped me with payment and even ordering and tracking delivery on the phone. I was especially thankful to Rachael who helped me over the phone when there was a mysterious delay in the shipment of my contacts. She even gave me an extra 4 pair of contacts to get me through (even though it was my own fault for losing track of time and waiting too long to order). read more

Post-payment service and courtesy are nonexistent to the point of being so exasperating that I decided to cut my losses, cancel, and go somewhere else. No appointment needed to get a new pair of prescription glasses. I had already had an eye exam elsewhere about a month ago I decided to come here as they were having a sale on frames and lenses. Found the frames I liked did some research online and LensCrafters by far had the best deals so I came here without an appointment maybe about a 5 minute wait at the most. Made my order and got the email my glasses were ready for pick up in about a week or less! The staff here are very friendly and helped me pick out some nice Jimmy Choo frames ! My wife came here and we paid the $185 for the eye exam and was given a prescription that was not right. Immediately it gave her a terrible headache and she tried for a week to get back in so the doctor could correct the prescription but they told her she would have to wait for two weeks! Obviously there was no way she could wait two weeks in that horrible pain so instead we went to the LensCrafters in Walnut Creek and had to pay the $185 again because the LensCrafters at Emeryville refused to provide a refund when they were unable to provide the service we paid for. It has been many years since my husband and I stopped at this store. They weren't busy and we received assistance immediately. We showed the written prescription to Paulina. We picked out a frame, but it was not available for the prescription. She was very helpful in finding the frame for my husband, which was less expensive than the one my husband selected. I have to admit customer service was excellent and the employees were pleasant and willing to help us customers. I am grateful that Paulina took care of us. LensCrafters was so so incredibly helpful and patient throughout my lens making process. I bought frames from another store (just because I wanted Moscot frames, though they have an incredible selection in store) and LensCrafters made perfect lenses for me and were very thoughtful and careful when measuring the lenses. I was having issues with my insurance and I worked with Shayla, who was amazing in calling my insurance provider, other LensCrafters locations that my family members (on the same insurance plan) had gone to in order to figure out insurance for my situation. While LensCrafters is (recently) out-of-network for my insurance, I still decided to pay out of pocket as LensCrafters gave me the most affordable quote from many other glasses stores I went to. Shayla helped me for well over an hour the first time I came in trying to figure out the insurance and how to best accommodate my situation. I was super impressed! Anyone who works with her is very lucky. Not only that, but others who work here are very helpful and kind. I am under the impression that the lenses are made at a different location (though I have prism lenses which most places don't make on-site anyway, so perhaps just my glasses were made somewhere else then shipped in), but then the lenses are cut and assembled into the frames on-site. Once my lenses had arrived, I came back in and they remeasured and assembled and everything was done in less than an hour. I was super impressed! They also have a policy where you can make changes to your glasses I think up to a month of the original purchase. After receiving my glasses and using them for a bit, I decided I wanted to add anti-glare. LensCrafters ordered me an entire new pair of lenses, and I just had to pay the difference of anti-glare (which after discounts were stacked--I think there may have been a current promotional) was just around $70. For full transparency, I was quoted around $700 and $500 at two other places but I paid around $300 for lenses at LensCrafters which was higher quality (in my opinion) than the other places. The manager at this particular location has no customer service skills whatsoever. She's very rude, not friendly and she measured my measurements wrong and I had to come back a second time, hoping that it will be corrected. I was told by an associate that I could come at 9 AM and I'm here at 9 AM and the manager told me that Daniel is doing something else and he can't cut my glasses right now because he's doing something else mind you this is my second time coming back. For a fault that you guys had in the beginning so I think that I should've been shown some type of courtesy to complete my glasses since they weren't done correctly the first time but the manager is so rude and I am sitting out in the car waiting for Daniel to come available so he can cut my glasses a second Time mind you there is no customers in the store at this time so why am I sitting in the car waiting for Daniel when she could ask him to complete my glasses right now since I'm a returning customer. I stopped in last week to discuss having new lenses placed in my existing frames. I explained to Rachel that I'd like to stop by the Target Optical to price compare. She shared it was a "sister" optical. When I went to Target the woman there said I had used all my benefits for the year. I hadn't so was confused. I later found out Rachel had placed a hold on my benefits so I was not able to get a quote from Target as my benefits were "tied up" with the Lenscrafters quote. I left Target frustrated my time had been wasted as I wasn't able to actually get the quote and price comparison I was seeking. In addition, when I called Lenscrafters to discuss this, Rachel had gone for the day, but the woman who answered was EXTREMELY RUDE. I was trying to discuss the situation with her and she kept talking over me and not listening to me at all. She wanted nothing to do with having a conversation and only wanted to assert her words over mine. Every time I spoke, she spoke over me. This happened 3-4X times so I just gave up and stopped talking while she released the hold they had placed on my benefits. I went to Warby Parker instead and bought brand new frames and lenses there. Their staff was friendly and helpful and treated me with respect. The staff at Lenscrafters needs a lesson in phone manners - it's affecting their business and bottom line. read more

Whole office is phenomenal. If you schedule an appointment BEFORE going into the office you will be happy. This location can get busy, but make sure to still be respectful, patient, and very caring. Dr. Hale is a real one and very friendly. He is personable and is a genuinely kind human looking out for your eyes The whole staff is helpful and funny. I appreciate that each time I go, even if it's a year later, I'm remembered by my name and random information. If you're like me, and can't see when trying on glasses, the staff always helps me pick out my glasses and becomes my eyes while trying them on. (I even ran around the store to make sure they won't fall off while wearing them) I would highly recommend this particular LensCrafters and never ever regret going there. Even when they're busy, I am still grateful for their practice and all of the people working to keep the place going. Don't let the negative reviews stop you from going! My trip to LensCrafters had started off really good staff was very helpful, did my eye exam everything went smooth, found some lens I liked and I was being checked out with Meddlawit. I originally told her to add the blue light reflection and the anti glare but I changed my mind, after I told her to take it off she became very rude and dismissive to me almost like a switch flipped. She aggressively set down a pen and receipt that i needed to sign, when I asked her when should i be expecting my glasses/how will i be contacted she ignored me and just left the table. I stood up and gave thumbs up trying to figure out if we were finished because she walked away. she then said i was good from across the room i'm not sure if she works off of commission and me not paying more is what triggered her or something. I barely felt comfortable enough to call back because of it but the other staff was super nice to me so i called back and the guy that answered ended up giving me the info i needed. read more

This place is great, the doctor that is connected (I honestly forget his name) is terrific, walks the line of professionalism and friendly personality perfectly. The staff at LensCrafters was great, I had to to both call and go in a few different times and everyone I spoke/dealt with was friendly, genuine knowledgeable and professional. Ordered glasses 3 1/2 weeks ago, and I still don't have them. The lost the first pair (but didn't tell me until I called in), re-ordered another pair, and say it's on the way, but they can't give me a tracking number. Offered me $50, but only if I come into the store. I'm too busy for this sh*t. So I have to start off saying was not impressed with the customer service at this Emeryville location I went in there looking to purchase sunglasses that I had in the past I asked you to take VSP the young gentleman told me yes he said they were a network he went to write up my order and it told me he could not find me in the VSP portal which was strange and I had no problem with that before he gave me a phone number to call to call VSP to see what was going on VSP in for me that LensCrafters has a habit of doing this telling people that their Network when they're not LensCrafters shadiness is not a good color please do better read more

I'm shocked that any business can stay open with this kind of customer service. I've been coming here for a long time so I'd like to explain that this is not one bad day I've had or just soldier who jumped online to say bad things. I've actually never written a yelp review before and I've been getting all of my eyewear in contact lenses for 10 years from this place A: their system is catastrophically separated in the communication between the vision testing, and the ordering is so poor that only the military or a miss manage branch of the government could even compete with how terrible it is. B: not all of the staff, but literally most of the staff have the worst attitude and such a bad attitude about customer service that I can't even believe it. They know that the system is bad they know the people Colin Colin called without getting through so when I have to drive in the middle of my workday and cancel work to get there, I can't believe they would give me attitude. Particularly there's one staff at the Emeryville location whose name is Bianca. Go to interact with her unless you have some kind of competitive sport or a fight afterwards don't even interact with her. She's in my opinion a very disrespectful person and knows absolutely nothing about customer service. I've met a lot of different people there that I was unhappy about, but this is the first time I took the time to write a review. The doctor there is a wonderful person. He's very helpful. I found two staff, named, and Shayla. they were also very helpful today. So they're nice people and thank you to both of them, but please don't support the store, they're not a good store, they're not nice, they don't have a good customer service and they don't provide good service. The best we can do is help a store like this go out of business to a better store that respects their customers can come in and operate there. I got a pair of glasses that broke after only a few months from nothing except my habit of pushing my glasses up the bridge of my nose (I.e. I didn't drop them or step on them or anything). I went back and bought (for full price) another identical pair to replace them, which didn't bother me at the time because I thought it was a fluke occurrence. This pair took over a month (and four phone calls from me) to arrive, and then once I did get them, they broke in the same way after less than a month. Because it had been less than a month, I tried to return them, and was (very rudely) told that you are not able to return broken glasses AT ALL, in any time frame, for any reason, unless you purchase "frame insurance" (which I was not offered at any point). The person who spoke with me seemed offended that I would even ask, and offended that I had shown up in person to try returning the frames. They said they would "call customer service to see what could be done," and that they would call me with the results. It has been over a month and they have not gotten back to me. My recommendation, as a consumer: add frame insurance to EVERY pair of glasses automatically, and just build the cost into the prices of your products. There are studies showing how much consumers hate being "nickel and dimed," and even with vision insurance, glasses are expensive enough that an extra "frame insurance" cost added automatically shouldn't make a proportional amount of difference (though if in fact this is incorrect I am willing to be corrected). My second recommendation: NEVER TREAT A CUSTOMER RUDELY EVEN IF WHAT THEY're going through isn't your fault or if there isn't anything you can do about it (arguably it's even MORE important to be polite in that case). I of course understand that store employees don't have any power over corporate policies, so I don't blame the store for the return policy, only the rudeness; the combination of the two will keep me from spending money at any LensCrafters for as long as I have any say about it read more

AWFUL! STAY AWAY! I had an eye exam. That went well. Everything after was a complete disaster. They simply could not find a single frame of eye glasses that fit my face, the first time I've had problems in my 30 years of getting glasses. They finally found one style I didn't really like but since it was the only frame they had that fit, I had no choice. Then there's the fact that you simply can not get someone on the phone to order contact lenses. I tried calling three times, each time it was "Can you call back in a half hour." I just stopped by the store *in person* just to order contact lenses, there was a line of 5 people, and the one person there said, "It's going to be a while before I can get to you." The entire line of people just turned around and walked out, and we all agreed we were never going back there again. Now I'm just trying to get my prescription so I can go somewhere else, and order my contacts somewhere else. Only been on hold for 20 minutes just to get my prescription. read more

I went to get my glasses fix after my lenses and screws came out. They where under warranty so I didn't have to pay. However, after I received a call stating the order was ready. The staff was so aggressive and disrespectful regarding mask mandate. To clarify I had no mask when I sat at the desk upon arrival. I won't be back. My appointment was on Saturday at 9am. I got a call reminder from them on Thursday letting me know I had a 10 mins window for my appointment. I said that wouldn't be a problem since I always get to my appointments a bit early to ensure punctuality. The person calling me let me know that wouldn't be a problem. I arrived at 8:50am and open the door to have the receptionist kick me out because they weren't open yet. I asked her if I could just wait in the lobby. She said no and said I had to wait outside. I got back she was in a mood. Based on some of the other reviews I'm guessing this isn't new behavior. The doctor was friendly and nice but honestly if your staff is rude and unprofessional you're not going to get new customers to stay. The best part is my boyfriend picked up my glasses today. And the case was already damaged. 300 dollar glasses and you damage part of the product? I was going to order more contacts from them but I'll be taking me business elsewhere.
