However, I also really like that she takes a conservative approach in treating eye issues. When both my husband and mother-in-law needed cataract surgery, Dr. Runke referred them to an excellent ophthalmologist. The optician side of the business is also good, although they offer only really high-end frames and lenses. They're gorgeous but pricey. The opticians are very good about making sure my trifocals work for me and have recut lenses several times to give me the best possible vision.

After another month of radio silence I called asking for a status update, was assured someone would call me back (they didn't). When I followed up again, the excuse was "the glasses were lost". This place is poorly run. Show up at 8:00 AM for an appointment and you're ignored until at least 8:15 while staff ease into their morning. No acknowledgment, no communication, no urgency. Between the delays and the lack of basic customer service, it's clear this operation isn't managed well. Plenty of other options out there -- I'd recommend going elsewhere.

The booking was friendly and painless, which cannot be said about all medical bookings! The receptionist helped us determine our insurance plan and got us our preferred appointment time slot with only a week's wait time. Arrival/check-in was noticeably nice. They took us to a back room with water and massage chairs (they are past their prime but still appreciated) and we filled out paperwork on an iPad. After that, the assistant took us back one by one for the initial test and then to see Dr Sutaria. Dr. Sutaria was thorough and pointed out things other doctors hadn't before. We also had recently been to the ophthalmologist, and she noticed the same pre-glaucoma systems the ophthalmologist noticed in my fiancé's eyes, something no one else had previously found. For me, I have quite poor eye sight, and she really honed in on variables that could give me better vision. Instead of just focusing on prescription strength, she's looking into other factors, such as contacts with more oxygen flow, tweaked astigmatism curvature and other stuff I don't really understand ;-). I am awaiting trial contacts and will be interested to see the difference. All in all, a very positive experience and a doctor's office I would recommend.

The email notifications could use some improvement--the scheduling link in the email went to the wrong system--but the scheduling link on the website worked perfectly fine. I didn't buy new frames this time since my prescription didn't change and I'm still happy with my current pair. They do have a wide selection of frames, and while many lean toward the expensive side, the quality looks good and there are plenty of nice options to choose from. Overall, a positive experience and I'll continue coming back.

The second time, they over charged my account, and after receiving my EOB from the insurance company, I contacted them via phone calls and emails and still trying. Compared to other medical offices, where check-ups feel routine, meeting with Dr. Sutaria for an eye appointment seems like visiting a close friend, due to how inviting her personality is! A couple of times, when my eye was irritated, she would create space in her schedule to check me up immediately, even if it involved a very tight schedule. Additionally, due to certain factors related to my eyes, I had much trouble, in the beginning, fitting Ortho K lenses. Still, Dr. Sutaria persisted and kept accommodating until the treatment was very comfortable for me, not settling for anything less than the best for me. My brother also received his own specialized treatment, which had really amazing results. Overall, the experience my family and I have at Insight Eye Optique is phenomenal (11/10!), and I definitely would recommend Dr. Sutaria to everyone, whether it's for routine annual eye-check ups, or specialized programs (such as the Ortho K lenses and myopia management)!

They are very thorough and take their time to explain what they are going to do and why, then guide me through each procedure. If they are not satisfied with the results of one of their exams, they perform it again and it provides better input for Dr. Chang when she comes in to meet with me. Peggy was very good in performing the initial base-line exams, making me feel comfortable ond confident. Dr. Chang does a great job of following up on previous conditions/ concerns with my eyes, double checks these while with me. She checks my vision test again to see if I need a change to my lenses prescriptions. I left my appointment and felt that I had received very good care!

Dr. Merrell did cataract surgery in both eyes. I have no complaints with either the surgery or the follow-up care. She also took the time to explain all the steps involved with cataract surgery and the follow up. Dr. Bourdeau was also part of the follow up and am seeing her now for itchy, dry eyes. All the assistants have been great. I have such confidence in the doctors that even though I moved an hour away, I still keep my appointments with Virginia Eye Center.
