First let me start by saying that the staff seemed extremely competent and were very apologetic. Upon me voicing my concerns they were quick to offer me solutions but were firm to their policy.
That being said, this may be the worst place to buy anything under warranty, especially considering the prices that Sunglass Hut charges for its products.
I bought a pair of SPY sunglasses which were expensive in price yet cheap in build. They promptly scratched under normal use. I returned them under trade in policy Sunglass Hut has and received 1/2 credit (about $17) towards the purchase of an $180 pair of Half Jackets by Oakley. Shortly after purchasing these glasses I noticed a factory defect in the lenses. The customer representative who sold me the Oakleys boasted about how great the warranty was, and that if I didn't like glasses that they sold, I could exchange or return them within 90 days no questions asked. This led me to believe that these glasses donned the same warranty I received with the original glasses. After noticing the factory defect and attempting to return them, the staff refused to stating that the warranty "was not valid" for glasses bought with the exchange promotion. This being news to me, I asked to speak to a manager who promptly told me the same thing and was unwilling to refund the money, despite the discount barely only covering the taxes paid for the Oakley's. Though this may be policy of the company, at no point before or after initial purchase of these glasses was I informed of the voided warranty, nor was it taken into consideration by management in their decision. Had I known of this I would not have purchased from this store to begin with. I was able to exchange the lenses under factory defect, and left.
Let me reaffirm that staff were polite and apologetic; however, as a waiter at a sports bar, I don't have the income to brush off an $180 loss over poor communication on part of the staff.
I will not be buying from this Sunglass Hut; however, I don't discourage buying from it. Just make sure that you receive written confirmation of ANY warranty you're offered, lest you end up in my situation. read more
