I returned within the 30-day return period to exchange my sunglasses and cancel the $40 warranty, but they refused the exchange over a claimed scratch that was never disclosed when I purchased them. I also paid $40 for a one-year warranty, only to be told I had to pay another $40 to use it. None of these restrictions were explained to me at the time of purchase. The way this situation was handled was frustrating and unprofessional. I expected much better customer service and transparency. I will never buy anything from that store again. Absolutely terrible experience at this Sunglass Hut. I was sold the wrong pair of Ray-Bans by an employee named Brenda. When I went back to return them, she denied responsibility, claimed she "didn't remember," and then doubled down by saying they were "damaged." The manager was very rude, accused me of damaging them myself, and backed Brenda instead of correcting the mistake. I was refused a refund even though I had my receipt and the original card. To make things worse, they kept my receipt, leaving me completely stuck with a product I didn't want and no way to return it at another location. On top of that, this all happened while I was on my way to a funeral it completely ruined my day and turned an already difficult situation into an awful one. The only positive was an employee I dealt with the week prior, who actually tried to help me and would have processed the refund if I had the physical card with me at the time. Bottom line: dishonest staff, zero accountability, and terrible customer service. Avoid this store at all costs unless you want to get stuck with the wrong product and no refund. read more

I bought sunglasses from Sunglass Hut inside Macy's at South Coast Plaza and noticed the lenses were scratched shortly after purchase (within 5 days). I went back expecting a simple solution for a damaged item, but the customer service was awful. When I asked to speak with a manager, the person I spoke to just said "I am the manager" and kept repeating "exchange only," with a rude, dismissive attitude. No empathy, no accountability, and no effort to actually resolve the issue in a professional way. At this point I didn't even want an exchange anymore because of how poorly it was handled, I wanted a refund/store credit or at least a real escalation path. My family and I have spent a lot at Macy's over the years and have recommended it to many people, but this location completely lost our trust. Really bummed at my brief interaction with this store. My bf and I just grabbed lunch at a restaurant next door and I was so excited to buy a new pair of Ray bands after. We tried to walk in the store and a lady immediately came out and snapped at us "we're at capacity it's a 15 minute wait." There was about 4 people in the store outside of employees. There was no sign indicating they have a capacity. I respect if that is their policy, however the lady's vibe ensured I'd rather drive to the District location than wait. read more

Recently went to this store because my husband wanted to take a quick look at their selection in store. We arrived at the store at 7:30 PM. When we entered the store, the employee automatically told us that we needed to leave because she didn't have time to help us. When I asked if they were open until 8, like it was stated online, the employee replied that she had to take her last break and take out the trash, so she asked us to leave. I came to this location twice. Once on 2/3/23 and another time 2/20/23. I have never had such a negative experience with customer service. I was misinformed, treated rudely, had a mistake on my receipt, and was not apologized to once discovered. The first time I went, I saw a pair of ray bans that I liked and asked to purchase it. I saw that they were going to give me the display sunglasses, so I asked if I could get a pair of new ones. They didn't have anymore in store, so Bao helped me order them online and ship it directly to my house. I decided to go to the south coast plaza location because I had a $100 certificate that I could apply towards this purchase. Bao and another coworker spoke Vietnamese the entire time trying to figure out how to apply the certificate. This already made me feel extremely uncomfortable since I didn't understand what they were saying. However, my boyfriend, who can speak Vietnamese, told me that they didn't know what they were doing. It took them 15- 20 minutes to apply the certificate and send the glasses to my house. We patiently waited and inputted my address and information twice because the first time it didn't work. Finally after everything was completed, Bao asked if I wanted to sign up for the Sun Perk program because "within a year, I could bring it in an exchange it for a new one even if it's just a little scratched for free." I was sold and added the program for an extra $19.99. Upon reading the sun perk program pamphlet he gave me, there is a $40 charge and it was NOT free. The full price of the sunglasses was $213, but with my $100 certificate I got it for $113 before tax. When I looked at the reciept, the $100 certificate was listed as a "lost/missing coupon." I didn't think anything of it until I decided to return it. I looked online a couple days after and saw the same pair of sunglasses were $170 and I could apply a welcome code to get an extra $20 off, making the same pair of sunglasses $150 without the use of any certificate. I went to the Tustin Marketplace location to make the return since it is closer to me. The person who helped me said she's unable to return the $100 certificate since it was listed as a coupon. So, I went back to the south coast plaza store on 2/20/23 to either get the price adjusted or just make a return. Kyle helped me with the return. As he was looking at the receipt, I explained that the "lost/missing coupon" is actually a south coast plaza certificate. He responded, "Yeah, Bao did it wrong and got in trouble for this." I was relieved to know that management knew about the issue, but I also feel as a customer, that should have been kept internal and not for the customer to know. A simple apology would have sufficed. Kyle asked what the reason for the return was. I simply stated that it was cheaper online and I could apply an extra $20 off with the welcome code. Without making any eye contact, he rudely responded, "We can price match, but we can't honor both." I showed him on my phone that you are able to both online, he flatly responded the same thing, same tone, no eye contact. He gave me a $100 south coast plaza card and processed the return. I would have been happy to just purchase it online, but I felt so unwelcome, was misinformed and looked down upon. It felt like he just wanted me out of the store as fast as possible with the lack of eye contact, short responses, and flat affect. Upon reading the other reviews, I'm shocked to learn that Kyle is the manager of this store. I would think his level of customer service would be the best out of all the workers there, but he was the one that made me feel worse than Bao. Overall, I have never had such a negative shopping experience before and will not be returning to this store, which will probably make Kyle happy. This store would benefit from better training and a manager that isn't selective on who he provides good customer service to. read more

Was not able to return my pair of glasses over a small scratch that was could've been cause by them. Which I understand. That's not the point. If you try on glasses, they have a special box for you to put them back in so they can be cleaned due to covid. I was shown a pair of glasses from another section and immediately I noticed there was some girls hair wrapped around the glasses. Obviously someone didn't clean that pair. They didn't make it feel like they were just trying to sell me. Devon was straight forward and caught on to the style I was looking for. Devon and Jessie were a great team and the way they ran the shop and made sure everyone was being attended to. I ended up walking out with a pair of Tom Fords I couldn't be more happy with, they're really understated and fit my face well. Walked in earlier today to look at some sunglasses, walked in with my glasses on said hello to the person working (caleb) while he was with another customer, there was another person beside the lady he was helping, looked around the Prada section because 1) i was wearing some so was interested in looking at other colors 2) I work at nordstrom so we dont get as many options. Didnt touch or pick anything up was just looking for about 3 mins, I then walk out the door and Caleb who as well didnt want to give me his name after when asked, stops me and says he needs to verify that i walked in with my glasses and asked for a proof of purchase to make sure i didnt take them. I said for 1) you saw me walking in with them and 2) i dont need to show any proof of purchase for my belongings as well the color of glasses i was wearing wasnt even a color on display. We went in to get a replacement but didn't need one as Andy was able to fix it on the spot. They have free repairs with knowledgeable staff. They even offered a great discount on a second pair. Located in Crystal Court (where Sports Chalet & Macy's Home is), this Sunglass Hut is on the 1st floor by Apple and Ruby's Diner. Hopefully that helped =P I recently started liking this place a lot due to the BIG & VAST selections of eyewear they have & all the big names they carry (Versace, Prada, Gucci, D&G etc etc). I couldn't find a much better place than this...not even my optometry place has variety & selections like this (and 20/20 vision is notorious to have the biggest collection of frames). The one thing that really STANDS out is their AMAZING & FRIENDLY service. I really enjoyed my recent trip here (today). I came in to return these CUTE Versace glasses that didn't fit my face well and expected to receive sub-par service since it was a return and not a sale for the staff here. Rather, I was greeted immediately upon my arrival by a really friendly guy whose name I forgot. Geez I wish I knew his name so he can get this fantabulous recognition for his wonderful service. He approached me (rarity in high-end retail...most of the time you have to approach them) and asked what he can do for me today. (Maybe a blowjob will help) hahaha jk !! I told him I needed to return a pair of glasses that don't fit me. He SMILED and continued the return process. Omg he smiled !! Again another rarity when you return a high-end product. So once he completed the process, he SMILED some more and offered to write down my order info just in case I needed them since he needed to keep my receipt. I think by far this is the best service I've gotten at a high-end eyewear place. More places in South Coast need to have associates like him. I asked to have my sunglasses aligned on the heat machine and both of the workers who were there didn't know how to work the machine or just too damn lazy to look for it.
