Knowing it would be a busy day, I made a reservation in advance, which I'm glad I did. This restaurant had fairly good reviews, so we decided to give it a try. When we arrived, I was a little surprised. The restaurant was much more casual than I expected, and the ambiance felt a bit dated. We ordered the half dozen fresh oysters, spinach salad, seafood linguine, and the Creole chicken. Unfortunately, the oysters were disappointing. They weren't as plump or flavorful as the fresh oysters I've had in Vancouver, and they were served with tobiko, which I've never seen paired with oysters before. It wasn't a combination I enjoyed. The spinach salad was good, although I thought it was a bit overdressed. The seafood linguine was also enjoyable, with a generous amount of seafood, though I wasn't expecting it to be made with pesto sauce. It was still a tasty dish. The Creole chicken was just okay--the chicken breast was a bit dry, but the sauce helped make up for it. Overall, I felt the prices were a bit high for the quality of the food and the casual atmosphere. It may be a good option by White Rock standards, but if this restaurant were in Vancouver, I don't think it would stand out. That said, the service was excellent. Our server was genuinely friendly, attentive, and provided the best part of our dining experience.

The beer was a perfect match. Very satisfied and eager to come back for more.

Let's say I was very "switzerland" (Neutral expectations). I went to pick it up (versus delivery) and the restaurant was packed. They were really set up for a romantic Valentine's event! Roving singers, roses and valentine's throughout the place. Best yet - a full complement of staff to make sure everyone had a good time. I was just sitting and waiting for my order so I had lots of time (reasonable time) to watch what was going on, and it was impressive. (I used to be in service in restaurants, so I had a practiced eye on what was going on) Back to the food. It was delicious. The portions were good, and the condiments were plentiful. The flavours were what you'd expect from a good Greek restaurant, flavoursome and great souvlaki with tender and moist chicken.

A few months ago, my husband said that he had read very good reviews for it so we decided to give it a try. It was very good. Just like it used to be, so we decided to go last night - Mother's Day. I think it was a bad night to go. The service was excellent considering how busy the restaurant was, but the food was disappointing. We shared saganaki as an appetizer and it was good. It was flamed at the table, crispy on the outside and nicely melted. Served with pita bread it was delicious. The Greek salad was nice and fresh with cucumber, tomatoes and olives. My husband had moussaka and his comment was that he has had better. I had roast lamb. It was very dry and overcooked. Our entrees were served with generous portions of rice and lovely marinated potatoes We shared a bourgatsu for dessert and it was also very good. We would probably give New York New York another try since we did have a very good experience on our previous visit but last evening was very disappointing. I'm hoping that it's just because the kitchen was overwhelmed because of Mother's Day.

It is nothing fancy, in fact it's always a bit cold and with wooden chairs and tables. I believe it was a "Post Office" at one time? That said, you can't get a better meal! We both had a bowl of their Cream of Broccoli soup and it was arguably the best I have had. I also had a Caesar Salad which I love but this one had a Balsamic reduction. I wasn't sure how they would do it but I tried it. Not a fan! The salad was fresh and wonderful but the sweetness of the reduction just didn't belong in my opinion. Some chefs just need to try to improve great receipts but some need to left alone. lol Again, my humble opinion. Only complaint was that our table was sticky... Not a big deal and I was aware of the salad but tried it anyway. Want to come back and try the Mussels!

This spot does traditional and classic seafood items so well- lobster poutine, are you kidding me?! How do I inject the lobster gravy from this dish into my veins? My boyfriend and I got a couple dozen raw oysters from the available options and narrowed down our favorites- the Fanny Bay and Kumamoto are fantastic! I got the uni sashimi and umami bomb, and those were to die for. The lobster poutine stole the show for my boyfriend and me, the serving size was generous and very filling. We got so much quality seafood for less than $100 CAD- this would easily go for so much more in the Bay Area.

Being a busier night, it was a little hard to get served even when we sat at the bar; we had to wait nearly 15 minutes before being able to place an order. We each had their Clam Chowder, which was pretty salty to say the least. The addition of real clams did make it tasty, BUT the clams also had a lot of sand... were they washed? This was not a fun soup to eat... It was also served with a crumbly muffin, which was not my favorite. The Mussels & Clams in white wine sauce was tasty, though it had the same issue of being sandy. We also had their Crab Cake - thankfully not sandy here. (I'd be scared if they were...) The crab cakes with real crab were tasty - loved this one! We also had their Daily Shucker's Dozen oysters, which included two smaller ones and a larger one. The large one... was most definitely meaty, briny, and not as tasty as the smaller, sweeter ones. I believe our smaller ones may have been the Fat Bastard and Sweet Select, while the larger one was off menu from Washington. On the topic of busyness, we didn't get our oysters until very late into the meal - nearly an hour. They actually had forgotten our order, and we had to remind them, which they said "soon" until "soon" ended up being nearly 20 minutes! We were told that a shucker was working on it, only to see that tray being sent to another table... sad!
