Let me start by providing an important safety warning. Our patio cover was installed with wiring that wasn't protected from abrasion in metal trim with rough cuts. Most importantly the metal trim was not screwed in and was loose, and I believe could have caused serious injury. We discovered it when my 6 year old child bumped into it and knocked it off, hanging in place due to live high voltage wires that were snagging on the jagged metal holes they cut. Double check their work! To their credit they came out immediately after I reported my discovery and secured the trim. It was at that point I began looking more closely at the work. Before launching into the laundry list of issues below, let me say up front that Sunbusters made it right. My initial experience was bad, as bad as it can be short of someone actually getting hurt. But they fixed it quickly and I have good reason to believe they made changes to improve. They deserve credit for being stand up folks that will make it right. The crew that did our job simply didn't do the job right. Sunbusters addressed it right away with a better crew. Kudos for that. On to the issues I think are worth paying attention to if you use Sunbusters or frankly any company to install your patio cover. The building plans prepared by the manufacturer and submitted to the city by Sunbusters were not followed. They built to the appropriate dimensions, but did not; * Secure the roof panels to the c channel at the house properly. They only secured it at the bottom, the manufacturer and approved city plans require they be secured top and bottom. * Secure the roof panels to the support beam using the appropriate number of fasteners. * Secure the panels to each other with fasteners. They used none. * Secure the gutter top and bottom per plans, they secured only the top and sporadically, also not per plans. I ultimately agreed to 6" on center at top only, rather than 12" top and bottom at their suggestion. * Some other, less significant issues like following the fastener schedule for trim pieces not subjected to structural loads. In addition there were general work quality issues; * Electrical code requires protecting wiring against abrasion wherever it enters or exits conduit. The patio cover itself is the conduit in this case and no protection was provided where holes were cut to pass wire through. * Electrical code requires wet location junction boxes and housing be sealed and use appropriate water tight fittings. No fittings were used and nothing was sealed against water intrusion. They remedied this quickly. * A substantial and visible over cut of a panel that meets a corner right by the door we come and go from. I had to demand replacement, they wanted to "touch it up" but immediately agreed to replacement once I pushed back. They ended up replacing two panels. * Side fascias were cut slightly short, leaving a very large gap between them and the home and creating a risk of water and debris collection in the fascia, and opportunity for insects (e.g. wasps) to nest. To their great credit Sunbusters volunteered to replace them rather than try to use copious amounts of sealer to address the gaps. The quality of the new fascia profile cuts to match the house trim is excellent. * PVC conduit for one of the two circuits I had them install was not bent around house trim and jutted out and looked like a kid did it. It also meant the exit point for the circuit at the house was tilted to bring water toward the house. I observed this the evening of the work and didnt want a leak into my house so I used a heat gun to fix the angles myself and reseal it. I'm sure they would have addressed this as well, I didnt want to wait. So theres the largely complete laundry list of issues. On to the good; Communication has been good. They are very responsive. The owner was extremely reasonable. The crew that did the initial install was courteous, listened to "oldies" while working, and cleaned up after themselves very well. The crew that repairied the patio cover was very professional, has good communication and did a great job. They didnt just address the wiring symptoms, they addressed the root cause and rewired most of both circuits. They also added screws to keep the panels more secure in the wind while they waited on better weather to remove and reinstall them properly. The patio cover is very attractive. Aesthetically we have zero complaints outside the sloppy work on one panel and the fascia on the ends. In the end I would use Sunbusters again, but I can't whole-heartedly recommend them for anyone that wants a turn-key installation. I recommend you monitor the job and demand following blueprints, even if standard practice is different. read more

Jesse and Trevor came to our home bright and early and had a 24' x 10' patio completed by noon. They were very well organized and attaching the patio to the house. They got the loudest part done in the first half hour it seemed. They cleaned everything up with a shop vac, very professional. The craftsmanship of the installation is excellent and everything is lined up. This insulated aluminum patio is so strong two men are able to walk on the roof. It is bolted into our concrete patio and I'm very confident it should last a lifetime. I highly recommend SunBusters. read more

I rarely post reviews but thought I'd share my recent experience with Sunbuster. My only complaint of the experience was the delay of material which was due to the pandemic that no one had control of. I waited a few months but we'll worth the wait! Sam and Ashley were great in the office, ensuring to answer my questions and update me of my material. The install team Dave and Kenny were professional and courteous. Both ensured to answer my questions and provided insights (definitely can tell they know what they were doing). Thank you sunbuster and team for a satisfied customer! Definitely will refer to friends and family! read more

I can't recommend Sunbuster's enough.  They responded to my initial inquiry on the same day.  I told the owner what I had in mind and he measured out an exact plan for my patio "sunroom".  The price was good.  More importantly the service and responsiveness to my interests was always prompt and professional. Workmanship was excellent, and the installers were friendly and highly skilled.   My wife and I now have a beautiful addition to our backyard where we can entertain, dine, and relax.  I wholeheartedly recommend Sunbusters to anyone looking to add an awning, screening, or seeking to expand their home and it's value. read more

Sunbusters replaced an old pergola that was in really bad shape. They tore the old one down, replaced it with a solid top pergola that we extended out, with recessed lighting and a ceiling fan. Janice came out to give us the quote and she was punctual and sweet. We had some changes and the contract process was seamless. After getting a couple of quotes, we decided to go with Sunbusters because the material will last, all contact with the company was professional and responsive and I felt their price was fair for the quality of work involved. The pre installation appointment went smoothly and Austin, the scheduler was nothing but gracious and professional. Anytime in construction, there are going to be wrinkles and we had just one and it was not even a big deal. It had to do with time and communication with the crew. I called Austin to complain about the communication and I admit that I was a bit of a Karen. Austin was nothing but courteous and he heard me out. The next day, the crew arrived early and got the pergola up in just a few hours and it looks amazing! Trevor was the leader of the crew. He really knows his stuff and his team worked efficiently and they keep a clean work area. I made a sheepish call to Austin to apologize for my Karen behavior from the day before and he was very gracious, which I appreciated. I will not hesitate to call Sunbusters for future projects. This company is as solid as their product. It's hard these days to find a company that works as seamlessly as this one. The pergola is gorgeous and we can't wait to enjoy sitting under it and enjoying our patio rain and hot sun free! read more

We were so glad we found you Sunbusters. Alan came over multiple times to go over our project. It was a long wait but well worth every day of it - because the end-result, my patio cover is truly a dream come true! It all starts with this small company, Sunbusters, that genuinely cares for its customers - from the time I Initially called, my request for proposal was handled with care. Janice, the first company representative I met in person, was particularly professional and knowledgeable came to show my options and completed the measurements as well as the estimate; the owner of the company, Allan, who is a licensed contractor, also visited my property and verified the measurements as well as the structure of my house - I'd be remiss if I don't mention that Alan placed my mind at ease because of his industry knowledge and deep background in building these types of structures - and he's also very friendly and professional; the office staff, Ashley and Austin, provided details, follow-up and were very receptive to my needs; and lastly, and certainly not the least, the build crew, Trevor and team, came to complete the project on time. Then, as a bonus, the materials that the company uses are from a reputable American manufacturer and comes with a lifetime warranty that is transferable. read more

Absolutely the best. They came out, provided options to us, they were so helpful via text, phone and in person. Helped so much with choices and color scheme. Sunbusters was the only company that was able to use a steel beam across our patio and connect it to our existing stucco column. And the cost was not much more than having 2 posts. We called several companies and everyone except Sunbusters wanted to put a post 6 inches away from our existing column. I did not want that and I didn't know I had other options until our sales rep (Janice) that came out told us about the steal beam option which was only $700 more. Totally worth it and the patio came out better than we expected! Nate and Kevin did our install and they were excellent! Very professional and knowledgeable. They gave us good advice on options for electrical we had them install as well. We couldn't be happier and will definitely recommend them to everyone! read more

If you are looking for a professional who is experienced and cares about his customers, you just give a call to Alan. We are glad we did. We needed a window screen replacement for our 16 year old patio enclosure but our screen guy could not figure out how to take down the window panels to perform the replacement because the windows were custom made, his typical method did not work. We called Alan for help. Alan came out and helped us figured out the hidden mechanism to remove the window panels on these old enclosures and give us pointers to get special parts for the screen replacement without trying to pressure us into giving him the business. He even told us for this kind of job we'd better go with a screen person and save some money. Alan spent all that time to help us solve a problem that was preventing us getting it done with another vendor. He didn't have to come out to do this for us, he did and it was free. This shows how much he cares about his customers. We will be calling Alan for future projects for sure! read more

I got this courtyard area on the side that basically has 3 walls but it needs a roof and I already made a mistake with wood pergola that requires maintenance so I want all metal construction this time and it's a win! Great experience from start to finish! With summer approaching, we needed an area over our back patio door covered to prevent the hot afternoon sun from overheating our house. Heard about this company and called for pricing. Tiffany came out for the estimate. She was on time, professional and very helpful in assisting with choosing colors and finishes. She mentioned it takes about 2-4 weeks to begin the install. It took approx 2.5 weeks for installation to begin and they were done in just under 3 hours. (I wanted the pipe drain straightened a bit more; the installers took care of that quickly.) Looks fantastic! Very happy with this company and their product! read more

I recently had SUNBUSTERS build me a window awning that could function as a trellis of sorts for grapes and wisteria. I COULD NOT POSSIBLY BE HAPPIER WITH THE RESULTS!! What a fantastic team from start to finish. I particularly need to give a shoutout to my installers, Jerome and Vince. They worked their tails off and consulted me on every single detail; thereby ensuring that I would LOVE the end results. Every single person I came into contact with was unflinchingly professional, considerate and only interested in providing me with the best possible service and product. VETERANS BEWARE!!! DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!! I was so excited to get my patio Cover from SUNBUSTERS when I met with the sales person in June 2021. I put down my deposit and signed my contract with a proposed install date of December 2021. I have yet to get a single phone call updating me as to my install date. I have called repeatedly to get updates to be told we are still waiting for the supplies to come in and they have no idea when that will happen. Today I was told that there are customers from March 2021 who still do not have their covers which is extremely frustrating. I can understand the supplier being behind what I don't understand is the lack of communication and then the attitude from the staff when they tell you they can't do anything. It's like " oh well" we will call you when we have an update!" No apologies, basically no tangible explanation why they are not calling to update other than they have nothing to say. First I was told my cover had not been ordered back in August because they were behind in applying for permits and were short staffed. Finally that was resolved but I'm sure that added to the huge delay I am seeing now. If you are short staffed that should have been resolved and not what I paid for. That is not good customer service at all for a product that costs thousands of dollars and months to receive! If I could, I would cancel but I was told that is not an option so basically I am in limbo and will have to keep calling back over and over again since they refuse to update me regularly! I regret contacting this company and hope anyone interested rethinks their decision based off my experience. read more

First off the sales person Janice is great. We called Sunbusters and Janice came out exactly on the day promised, understood our needs and prepared an estimate the we liked. The permitting process took some extra time - I believe the City of Dublin had something to do with that. The installation, product itself went great. So - why only 4 stars not 5. The bookkeeping at Sunbusters needs a bit of work - several times they emailed for payment and did not have the correct billing that showed our credit for deposits and at the last minute found another charge after I had paid the bill in full and blamed me for short paying. The sales person, installers and company that made the product are excellent - read more

Great company! They built a beautiful Covered Patio on our deck at a very reasonable cost. Their customer service is also top notch. We recently had to renovate an investment property that had an older patio cover with several missing "end caps" from the beams and rafters. After spending numerous hours on the internet (unsuccessfully) trying to identify and locate the parts, we called Sunbusters for guidance. Austin at Sunbusters immediately identified and located the parts that we needed. The following day, Austin had all the required parts ready for pickup. When we picked up the parts, Austin refused to charge us, which took us completely by surprise considering that the parts were for an unrelated project. Thank you Sunbusters and Austin for the help! read more

Bought 5 sun screens Nov. 2020. Since then have not had good customer service from them. Call, email for help with problem rolling up screens evenly, and they require many calls emails to get any response. We paid a lot of money for the 5 screens, and they don't roll up evenly. It takes 2 people to get them close to even, and one doesn't go up evenly at all. Even when we finally got some people from Sunbusters to help, they couldn't resolve the issue, and the worker had the gall to ask me " What do you want me to do?" I responded," I want to you to fix it!" He said "I'll tell Allen", the manager of the business. All in all I cannot recommend this business. Plus you can't leave the shades down with even a little bit of breeze. Shop another company for shades, and may you have better luck than me. read more

Just had our patio cover installed by SunBusters. What a joy to work with this company from the first appointment with Janice to the consult for design with Alan we were impressed. Then finally came the date of install. Alan showed with David and Zach to ensure the project started smoothly. David and Zach were the hardest workers we had during our whole 7 month long backyard project. Every step of the way they made sure that we liked what was being done and happy with the work. The last day of their work I heard David stating we don't leave until the homeowners are happy and they release us What a pleasure working with these two and the quality of their work was fantastic. Customer service is over the top! Starting from my initial visit from Sunbusters' sales rep Janice, Sam office staff to turn key and ready to use patio. You know when you get that gut instinct and know it's right? Well I had that feeling when I first met with Janice - she actually listen to me; the consumer! This is what I wanted and she said - yes-yes, yes we can do that; while the other two Patio companies said no you can't do that and what about this or that... it's not what I wanted to hear, until I met with Janice. As per Jessie, Kevin and John the installers, they were over the top! All 3 of them were very knowledgeable of their trade, they took pride of their workmanship, professional, and very respectful - Jessie was the lead and when I asked to complete a task(s) I didn't hear the word "No" at all from him and or from his team. I tip my hat to them - they are truly a reflection of their leader (owner) Alan Lee. I LOVE my 52'x16' Patio Cover - Raving Fan - Hector read more
