If you take the five star review of April 2016 and negate each statement, it will describe my experience with Pleasanton Sunrooms. Rich is gone and new people are running the business. In spring 2017 I had a new foam patio roof installed to take the place of an existing wood-and-sheet metal patio roof. In all phases of the project - demolition of the old porch, coordination with the patio paving contractor, and installation and cleanup - there were problems.
The prep consisted of a lot of violent demolition: crowbarring off brackets (and pieces of wood with it) from the existing ledger, ripping off sheet metal, and hammering off old stucco, all punctuated by the screams and curses of the crew. The company does not seem to have a tarp to its name and does not seem to be aware of dirt they track around. Each time they came onto my property I had to pick up brackets, nails, pieces of stucco, and mud, and sweep out dust in the garage they had tracked in or allowed in because they had failed to close a door when generating a lot of dust.
In the second phase of the project, coordination with the paving contractor, Pleasanton Sunrooms failed to explain fully where footers were to be located to support the posts for the roof. This resulted in the footings being improperly located for the roof by the paving contractor. Pleasanton Sunrooms ignored multiple requests to clarify by failing to stop by the property and mark the positions; failing to review a sketch emailed to them and correcting dimensions; and failing to review pictures emailed.
The actual construction phase resulted in more cleanup and incidental damage. The crew carelessly shoved ladders about, dropping metal parts perched on the ladder onto the new pavers; left smears of white caulk on the new pavers; and left a huge amount of very small metal chips and white paint chips on the lawn. These small particles are almost impossible to pick up and may be there forever.
Am I satisfied with the final product? No! The new sunroom already has places where the white paint has scraped off and metal is exposed. The metal itself is thin aluminum (I think) and dents very, very easily - I actually do not know whether I have the Four Seasons product. I asked for a bill of materials, but Pleasanton Sunrooms was reluctant to give me a copy; I never did receive one.
One more comment on construction: I painted over the damaged ledger board before they returned to complete the construction because I had no idea if they would replace it or repair it. I am glad I did, because they did neither.
During the whole project I found that dealing with the owner and crew of Sunrooms was very difficult. When I asked a question, I was told "this is costing me money" and "I don't have time for this" This was in marked contrast to the crew and contractor who installed the pavers, who did a wonderful job and will be up in a separate review.
I had read the Yelp and the BBB rating before I selected Pleasanton Sunrooms. I am not certain what happened in my case because my experience is so opposite to previous reviews. I hope this review helps someone. And I hope this review helps the business get better. read more
