Highly recommend them, years of experience and it shows. Everything went smoothly from start to finish. Patio was small since backyard was small, these new homes don't give you much these days. Mike took the job and it looks great. His team did an awesome job and was quick. Mike offered some options too which I took since I wasn't sure of what styles are out there. Not only does Mike have the experience but his team doing the job does too, which you can't beat! read more

We recently had the pleasure of working with Mike Nagy and his team of Creative Designs when we hired them to install our new patio cover in February. From beginning to end it was a great experience. Mike came out to our house, sat down with us to show us pictures of his past projects, discussed what we wanted and gave us a very reasonable quote which we immediately accepted. They took care of obtaining the building permit we requested from the city, and once the materials arrived they completed the cover in one day! We made the decision to add shades to the entire front of the patio cover and once the dimensions were taken and the shades were ordered, the shades arrived about two weeks later and were installed in one afternoon. From beginning to end it was a smooth process. Mike's installation team was outstanding, friendly, and kept us informed of all that was going on. I can't recommend this company enough if you're looking to add a patio cover. read more

I couldn't be happier with my decision to go with Mike and team. Extremely professional and they know how to build a great patio cover. My recommendation is to go with their professional advice, and you won't regret the decision. Also, I am in south bay, and they came to work that far. So if you are wondering if might be too far from their location, just give them a call. A++ rating from me. read more

Mike and his crew were a pleasure to work with! They are professional and so efficient in their customer service and labor work. Not only was the setup completed in one day but the electrical work was done a week later! That was the fastest workaround and best of all it was completely so effortlessly. We recently had our annual Halloween party and people loved the patio cover so much that people were asking for Mike's website and business location. Mike, you were such a pleasure to work with and really a delightful individual I thank your crew members and team for taking care of us our family is so grateful! Cheers, Tyra & Ron read more

Called this to come out and give me a quote on a deck and Mike came out was very nice and professional, said give him a few days for a quote, but then never responded with a quote and didn't respond to messages asking for a quote, was completely ghosted. I guess you didn't want the job... I ended up going with another company. read more

Mike and his team just built a patio covering for us. An entirely positive experience from our first meeting with Mike. After getting a quote from Mike, we got a 2nd quote from a larger company that we had used over a decade ago to build a patio cover on our old property. We expected the larger company's quote to be lower but that wasn't the case. Not only that, but Mike's method of installation seemed cleaner, with the other company saying they would have to build above the gutter and that rain in extreme heavy wind might leak through the small gap that would exist between the cover and our house. The whole point of us getting a cover was for shelter from the rain so that didn't sit well with us. We considered getting a 3rd estimate but figured, why bother? Even if the 3rd company was going to be a little lower, we had such confidence and trust in Mike that we knew we would go with him. Mike and his team really went above and beyond to accommodate our schedule, working on a weekend which they normally don't do. Mike estimated that it might take 2 days to build, since we were going with steel beams (which made it possible for just 2 posts instead of the 3 that would be necessary without them). Instead, they were done by 2:30pm the first day! The guys working on our cover were great too. Friendly, considerate, fun, respectful and of course they did an amazing job. Every single thing about the experience was positive. Kudos and our sincerest thanks to everybody involved at Creative Designs & Beyond for the impeccable service and end product! read more

Highly recommend Creative Designs & Beyond if you want to add a sunroom/patio to your house. Mike took care of everything from the permit to the complete project. He worked hard to meet our budget and always answered our questions and concerns very quickly(even a few months after the project was done, Mike was able to address any concerns or questions we had.) . Thank you Mike and your team for building us a nice and lifetime guaranteed sunroom. read more

I had been searching for someone to build a permanent patio cover structure for our home in San Jose for over a year, and was having trouble finding anyone to come look at our patio area and design something 'just right'. Most places just have you give them some dimensions and order a prefab kit then hire some local contractor to install it. I wanted more than that. I also had one 'design/architect' come out but he wanted to build the Taj Mahal to the tune of $40-60K. I found CD&B online. Their webpage said they did work in San Jose, even though they are based in Concord. I sent them an email and the owner Mike responded within an hour. He called and we set up an appointment for a design meeting. The Meeting: During the design meeting (all 4 hours of it) Mike sat and brainstormed with us as we discussed our ideas and concerns. By the end of the meeting, Mike had designed and engineered exactly what we were after. We negotiated 'the price'. He assured us that barring any changes on our part, this was exactly the price we would pay, including permits, materials, electrical, installation - the works. The price was about double what those pre-fab kits would have cost, but this was not going to be anything like those. The Design: We went with the 4" thick insulated aluminum sandwich panels projecting 19' from a roof mount, and 19' wide. All the other systems we had looked at required 4 to 6 posts, which we felt would obstruct the space too much. Mike's custom design needed just 2 posts (very beefy posts indeed) and the double steel headers to support the width. We had Mike design in lighting on the posts and 2 ceiling fans. We added rafter tails to the end and one side. The structure overlaps our home's roof on 2 sides, so our gutters remained functional. I still had reservations and concerns - we had just put a new paver patio in, and these guys were going to make a huge hole (about 4' wide) for the footings right in the middle of it. I wasn't sure how sturdy this structure would be, and how the roof mounts would look. The Build: To say that CD&B has an experienced crew is an understatement. These guys have been with Mike for over 20 years. Bill, our lead for the project, was very polite, professional, and did everything he could to minimize impact on our daily routine during the contruction. Bill knows what he's doing, and works like a madman. They set 2 very heavy posts (3/16" thick walled 4" square steel) in 32" cubes of concrete. That's about 80 bags of concrete. These posts aren't going ANYWHERE. They designed the roof mounts just for our roof and had them custom fabricated out of 3/16" steel. The headers are also heavy steel sheathed with aluminum. The roof panels are structurally strong, and the guys could walk on top of the structure once it was up. The electrical went in flawlessly, with a brand new circuit run from the main panel for the structure Thanh the electrician was most helpful and made sure to ask about exactly what we wanted and where. The only thing he didn't ask us about was exactly where the fan placement should be, and that's our only complaint. The Result: We are ecstatic with our patio cover. It feels like a huge outdoor room. It protects our patio almost entirely from sun & precipitation. The pavers were finished off around the posts and the repair is invisible. The insulated aluminum roof and fans keeps the patio very comfortable on hot days like today. The structure is almost 10' above the patio which created a very open and airy space. Having only the 2 posts opened up our patio and it feels much larger than it used to. As Mike promised, we paid exactly the dollar amount quoted. All inspections went flawlessly and the finished project was quickly approved by the city. Total cost: $12,500 included custom design, fabrication, delivery, installation, permits & inspections, electrical, gutters & downspouts, paver repair. Only extras were the fans & lights which we purchased on our own. Money well spent for the best room in our house (even if it's outdoors). Recommendation: These guys are the real deal. Old school, you get what you pay for service. Couldn't be more satisfied with the experience or the result. read more

This review is on behalf of my parents who hired Creative Designs & Beyond to replace the roof on their sun-room. My parents were extremely pleased and satisfied with the work that Mike, the owner, and his crew had done. They were very professional and efficient! Update: Winter 2015 - 2016 After experiencing what was described by many weather forecasters as the strongest El Niño in decades, the roof that Creative Designs & Beyond installed withstood the onslaught of storms that came through our area!!! Fantastic job by Mike and his crew! I highly recommend Creative Designs & Beyond!!! read more

Mike and his team built a sunroom for our single-story house in Lamorinda. Not only are we 100% pleased with the final product, we had the best experience working with him. I typically meet with several contractors before making a final decision, but Mike was THE ONLY contractor who I met with for this project. I felt like he was honest, ethical, and confident in his work product, and my experience proved that I was not wrong. For the initial appointment, he was extremely informative and showed us photos of his work and brought samples of the different materials used. He also sketched a layout for the sunroom and provided an estimate on the spot. I called back to ask if we could change the location of the sunroom, and he came with a smile and spent quite some time preparing a new sketch and estimate for us. Once we contracted with him, he made the process so easy. He took care of the permits, scheduled appointments with the building inspector, provided regular updates and started the project thereafter. His team is extremely experienced, diligent and hard working. Once the project was complete, Mike called to make sure we were satisfied and had his people do some final touch-ups. I can't say enough positive things about Mike. We enjoyed working with him and love the sunroom that he built for us. We use the room EVERY single day and can't imagine life without it. Thank you Mike and your amazing team. Pros: Competitive pricing, good communication, great team of experienced and hard working people, pleasant attitude, and AMAZING final product. Cons: Honestly, there are none. The hardest part of this experience was waiting for the room to be finished. read more

Absolutely recommend this company to anyone who is looking for a quality patio cover. I did not want a cover initially but my wife asked me to listen to the owner explain what they could provide us. Mike and his team are true professionals, all with 20+ years of experience, so you can trust you are in good hands! We had our beautiful patio cover installed with skylights over the summer and absolutely love it. It has changed our backyard space completely and we are finding ourselves outside everyday. Mike came out to meet with us and discuss what we were interested in. We had concerns about the patio covering possibly making the inside of our family room too dark and wanted a couple of different quotes for lattice vs. louvered patio cover. After Mike was very honest with us about the costliness of the louvered cover, he brought up the genius idea of adding some skylights to bring in natural light while still having a closed cover. Within a few weeks (due to their peak busy season) we had the perfect patio cover installed. Two men from his team installed it in 1/2 day and these guys were good, I felt like they could install with a blindfold on. They were very communicative and made sure to ask us for our input during the installation instead of making the calls for themselves. About a month after installation, we decided to give Mike a call to have the pull-down sun shades installed for that additional privacy and time of day that the sun is in your face. The quality of the material of the sun shades that Creative Designs sells exceeds beyond any store bought shades (such as Costco). Overall, Mike and his team are true professionals and the entire process was seamless. We highly recommend Creative Designs & Beyond! read more

Mike came out last fall to give us a quote on a patio cover. He took his time, listening to our needs and giving us all the options available. We wanted a quote, but weren't ready to get the work yet as still needed to gather the funds together. Mike was patient. Checking in with us periodically, but never pushy. Finally after 6 months of saving our pennies, we have an amazing patio cover which we love! Thanks to Mike and his team for making this whole experience so smooth! Would definitely recommend him! I was looking to get an awning to cover my deck about 42' by 20'. It's a pretty big job and thought it would take weeks to complete. But Mike and his crew proved me wrong. They got the job done in 2 days and it looks absolutely fantastic. He made sure that the awning was installed securely and was well sealed. They ran wires for 5 lights, 2 ceiling fans, 2 electrical outlets and 2 switches as I requested. I couldn't be happier. The best part about all this was that Mike worked with me on the price and provided the service that other companies would charge way more than what I paid him. I've already recommended him to friends and neighbors who were very impressed with the outcome. I got 4 quotes from other companies and none could beat this company. I would 110% recommend him to anyone. read more

Mike and his team built us an amazing slatted aluminum pergola. He helped us design, plan and permit our ideal pergola to optimize our space and our budget. He was very professional, courteous and responsive and his installation team was very skilled and experienced. He has many customization options, including slatt size, spacing, and color--right down to the retractable shade thickness. I love that the final product looks crisp, clean and professional and should require less maintenance over time than a wooden options. I highly recommend this company at a time when most contractors barely return your call! Thanks guys! read more

10 stars, 10 stars, 20 stars! I can't say enough great things about Mike and his workers! I had been getting quotes for Sunrooms that were absolutely absurd, close to the price of a new luxury car. I ama photographer and I needed an outdoor space with a lot of lighting for my clients. After getting the run around with Four Seasons Sunrooms ( dont use them) and playing phone tag with companies that couldn't get their appointments straight, Mike answered his phone right away, and came out within a couple of days to look at our space. We had an existing slab and needed walls and windows. He did a great job of going into detail about how the process works and knew how to get permits, and everything. The other company, wanted to go without a permit and install without approval. This made me feel like they would cut corners in their installation. but Mike did not do that. He didnt charge us triple for the permit and knew the folks at City of Newark and how to get the permit quickly. Once we got our permit in 3 weeks, the rails were installed, then inspected the very next day, and then the entire sunroom was installed in ONE day! This blew me away because I thought it would take 3-5 days. Mike's crew workd 12-14 hours and completed the job in one day! The electrician did a great job ( other than leaving a some drywall dust all over my shoes) and came back to complete the job rather quickly. All the guys were great with communication and did great work. The studio is going to work perfectly! if you need any sort of Sunroom, outdoor patio or shade, I would highly reccomend using Mike! read more

I agree with Linda. Mike & Sandi Nagy have come across the bay several times over the last 15 years to install, update, and fix minor repair issues with wooden and cellular blinds. I have them on every window of my home and their service has always been outstanding. The result is perfect and my faith that good, caring people still exist is strengthened! I highly recommend them. read more

I reached out to Mike to get a patio cover quote. He was quick to respond and came out to my place the next day! He was running late and called to make sure I knew. He stood out to me because some dont even think to call if theyre going to be late and some are just no shows. He also gave me a competetive quote. We are constructing an outdoor kitchen in our backyard and wanted a roof cover over the working areas. Finding Creative Designs and Mike Nagy was pure chance. Another vendor working on the project mentioned in passing that he had seen some very attractive pergola designs on other jobs. This prompted me to go to the internet and do some searching. There were several companies who had the type of roof we wanted but they were not in our area. Finally, I found Creative Designs in Concord and called the owner. He was very responsive and set up an appointment within a few days. After seeing the pergola design in a model (he carries with him), we were immediately sold. It took few weeks to work out all the structural engineering requirements and the special cuts that were needed for appliances, but it all came together on schedule. We are very very pleased with the professionalism of the design and installation. It works beautifully and hope that it will provide many years of enjoyable use.
