under house where they failed to put foundation

If I could give a negative star i would!! I am a first time home buyer and need some foundation work done so my loan could be approved and my RE agent referred this company. They got paid $45,800 to do my foundation and have completely ruined my house. It is totally uunlevel, squeaks everywhere, not to mention they left all the dirt they dug up mixed in with the brick and mortar they removed. B4 they started you could stand in my basement after they were done u have to almost walk on your knees and I don't have a garage so was planning on using my basement for storage. I told then from the beginning that I wanted to still have walking space down there and was assured that I would. I didn't, and when I called then about it I was told that this was considered a cheap job so they didn't remove any of the dirt . $45800 I guess is cheap to them! Then to top it off I have an alcove that sticks out of the side of my house that is 4'x2' and under this section only there was no foundation put there. Insr a ad they put blocks of wood sitting on bricks!! And left one whole side under my house exposed to the elements and now those wood blocks and bricks a sinking and that alcove is falling off the side of my house!! I have my RE agent call them and he said he finished the job and that was that. He. Never offered go look at it or anything. So I have no choice than to take legal action regarding this, horrible service, horrible work, just an overall horrible experience

Chris and his crew fxing our foundation issues! Progress at work...

We moved into our house about 4 years ago and four years ago we knew that our foundation was unstable. Chris was recommended to us by Green Air. He was very knowledgeable, he explained to us that our foundation was terrible because of the lack of drainage. Oh boy! So for a couple of decades the water was been draining under the foundation and concrete. **Sigh** Chris pretty much gave us the straight to the point solution! He gave us a reasonable quote and we were sold! He was very good at addressing all our questions and concerns. He was working on other jobs so he told us we would have to wait(we met him in September) since he was so busy and in high demand. He is licensed, bonded and insured. Well am happy to say we are almost done with the foundation repair project. We are thrilled that Chris and his crew were able to work their skills and talent to fix our big problem! They will not disappoint, they come at the same time everyday and they clean up the job site at the end of the day. I don't have any reservations recommending Chris to any of my family and friends!

    Hinkson retaining wall project

Chris Hinkson and his crew just finished a 50' stone & wood fence retaining wall at the boundary between my neighbors' and my property. We had talked with a couple of other vendors, and Chris' proposal for the project was both more attractive and more cost effective. The crew did a terrific job - the wall is now secure and all is cleaned up and in good order. The team was polite and easy to work with, and completed the job in a timely manner. Couldn't have asked for more! With thanks to Chris and crew for a job well done.

One bedroom had sunk by almost 5 inches as that part of the house had been built on fill. In order to restore the house to it's proper level numerous foundation jacks and floor leveling screw jacks were required. In addition some landscaping bushes and pvc sprinkler pipes had to temporarily removed. Groundworks had informed me prior to starting work what would be required to successfully complete this project and had my full approval. The house is now level, the doors no longer swing on their own and the interior cracks between the walls and ceiling joints no longer exist. Prior to the crew leaving the yard was cleaned up and the pvc pipes replaced. Best of all Groundworks will come back annually to the next 5 years and make any necessary adjustments. The Groundworks crew that made this happen was Andrew, the site supervisor, Charlie and Allen. Their performance and daily communication was superior on all levels. This is part 2. The Groundworks Poly crew of Anthony & Brian were very fast and efficient in completing their part of the foundation repair contract which was to level our family room slab floor. Fast, yes, but Anthony did take the time to not only explain what they were going to do but also walked me through the process as they were working. I have no problem in recommending them & Groundworks to other home owners who need to have their foundation repaired.

Brett came out to do an assessment on our entire foundation and his finding was consistent with our own inspection report. Their recommendation is also on par and we find that Brett is quite knowledgeable about the scope of work. He is also very patient, responsive and respectful throughout the estimating project while we took a long time to decide, a lot of follow ip questions and requests. Not once that I felt rushed, pushed or disrespected. The team kept me informed on the timeline of permit, project starting time, inspection and completion, everything was transparent. They passed inspection without problemsx Our foreman is Humberto who was polite, dependable and kept me well informed on the work they performed the day of, when they finished work and provided needed before and after pictures. I also find their pricing is reasonable compared to other companies that we interviewed with the experience that far exceeds their piers. Overall I had a good experience with the crew. They are polite and really didn't interfere with our life that much while they work. I would recommend them for all foundation repair needs. Be careful because lots of foundation companies will scam you, just because you will not be able to see what they did underneath your crawl space. The last foundation company came out to fix our house they made a bunch of noise for 2 weeks, said they are done and then we hired an independent inspector and confirmed they did nothing. Spend the money on a good company. This one is probably the best one ( we interviewed 6 companies)

NAB removed all the bad concrete and replaced it with pavers, and on the other side of the court, they added 5 feet of concrete where we had lawn, as well as adding to our existing retaining wall. After the pavers were installed, I noticed something not to my preference with the paver layout. I contacted Nick, our site manager from NAB, and he was very responsive, and arranged for Nate (the company president) to come out right away and discuss the matter, which was resolved that same day to my complete satisfaction. Nick also was happy to arrange for a few other small tasks related to bricks and concrete on our property to be taken care of, and they were - at no added cost. NAB construction was not the lowest bid we got for this work, but I have learned the hard way that going with the lowest price is not always a great idea, and I am glad I went with NAB for this project. I'm very satisfied with the results of this project, and would not hesitate to recommend NAB construction to others.

We wanted a walkway installed so we went back but this time we dealt with someone by the name of Nick Vard. He was very unprofessional and used the terms "outside the scope of work" and asked us to make a "commitment" several times. I went to Brickyard on a Saturday at 8AM per the direction of Nick but when I called him about our selection he never called me back. He blamed us and said they lost money on the job because it took longer than expected. He tried to convince me to use a brick I did not like. And the biggest disappointment was the drainage that they left unfinished. We spent almost $10k but we feel like the job is incomplete. Wish we could recommend them but if they continue working with Nick Vard you should stay away.

What followed was nearly a year of mismanagement, broken commitments, and financial consequences I'm still dealing with. They no-showed on the agreed start date. I called them at 10am to find out why -- they told me they were stuck on another job. No warning, no proactive communication. It only got worse from there. The job stretched into months of sporadic work. Midway through, they told me they needed a subcontractor for core drilling -- something that should have been identified during scoping -- then let months pass without scheduling one. My property sat in a hazardous state the entire time: open holes covered only by wood boards, piles of excavated dirt, debris, and equipment surrounded by caution tape. My homeowner's insurance company conducted a routine inspection, found the condition of my property unacceptable, threatened to drop my policy, and ultimately imposed a $2,000 surcharge. Resolving that took significant time and effort. Faced with no resolution in sight, I was pressured into accepting a reduced scope of work -- specifically, no tiebacks. Tiebacks were explicitly included in my signed contract and shown on the job drawing. Without them, there is no guarantee my home will remain stable on the hillside. I paid $52,130 for a project that does not solve my problem. After agreeing to the reduced plan, it took more months to redraw plans and pull permits, then more weeks to schedule the final visit to seal holes and reconnect drainage. On that scheduled day, they no-showed. Again. When they arrived the next day, they left without finishing. Their excuse: my gardener had told them not to proceed. My gardener -- someone I know well and trust -- told me he said no such thing. Norcal did not just take direction from someone with no authority over my contract. They fabricated an excuse to walk off the job. This company demonstrated the same pattern of behavior from the very first day to the very last: no communication, no accountability, and no follow-through.
