This out of the way restaurant is worth a trip out this way. Such friendly, helpful staff and a view worth just sitting and taking in. Superb sea food and the best black eyed peas I've ever had. Stop at Fort Morris on the way and learn the history then come here to visit Brittney and the rest of the fine staff for some excellent seafood and ambiance... and the beer is cold!! The ONLY negative is the parking situation for handicapped. There is no designated parking and the parking lot is gravel. read more

God I wish I could this place zero stars. First I would like to say I've been going here for years with the only consistent problem being the older women running the establishment. Usually, as long as we can avoid her we don't have any problems. A typical night with her goes like this: oh your reservations been changed we can't get you in till later. I've never had a conversation with her we're she's not rude. I do have to say the rest of her staff is extremely nice and respectful, especially the staff attending the bar. But, when getting down to the point no matter how good the food and people can be the awful management can ruin it all. Tonight was the night that convinced me and my husband to never come back. After messing up our reservation the women developed an extremely rude attitude and took it out not only on us but other customers. Over the course of the night we saw her rudely ask customers, waiting on there to go food to move because " they were in the way". Also she forcibly removed some people from the restaurant who were eating on the tables specifically designated for eating to-gos. She got to the point that she put her hands on the gentleman who was complying with her. She should be happy he was not recording and reported her for assault. Overall this establishment has lost my business and many others who experienced this scene. Please if the owner reads this consider having a conversation with this older women. read more

I love the food but: I made reservations however upon my arrival, to my complete disappointment, the host informed me that we couldn't even be on the waiting list to be seated until my entire party arrived. My father was in town from Florida and his wife insisted on eating. Unfortunately my girlfriend with 3 kids lived 30 minutes away. They were running late but were on their way. We couldn't be seated, and go ahead and order their drinks? Why do you care if they are there or not? I was going to spend a nice amount and you lost out on a lot more revenue. You wouldn't work with me AT ALL so I had to ask my girlfriend not to come to appease my father and step mother. Really, guys? read more

I probably would've only given three stars but the ambiance of being right on the water, overlooking the docks with all the windows open, pushed this review up to 4 stars. Both my husband and I had the shrimp (which is caught daily right at the restaurant)-- my husband had his fried and mine was grilled. Next time I'll probably have mine fried. Some of my shrimp was seasoned perfectly, while others had too much. We also had our waitress forgot about us because of all the big parties in the restaurant on a Saturday night. But I wasn't too bothered by it because of our beautiful view, other friendly patrons and she offered us a free desert (even though we didn't take it). We'll probably go again if need to take a break from the bleakness of Hinesville. read more

Best part of the place was the service. Dexter was great however charging 1$ for a cup of water and 4% surcharge for debit/credit card transactions leave little to be desired. Save yourself the trip/drive/whatever and go somewhere else. Prices are way higher than the online menu and hidden fees are overkill. Presentation is severely lacking as well. 33 dollars for a slab of fish on a plate? Might have a niche or specific clientele but it's not the average joe like me. We stopped by here pretty late in the evening while on a road trip. It definitely was off the beaten path and a little unsettling at night when you're city folk... It was pretty average compared to the ratings it received. The staff was nice, but it didn't have that southern charm I've experienced elsewhere. It actually had more of chain restaurant feel. Our server was a total sweetheart, but otherwise the staff and guests didn't seem particularly friendly. And it certainly wasn't bustling with laughter or happiness. It seemed more like a place to go with co-workers or family you've fallen out of love with. I ordered the fish tacos and they were much better than the average fish taco at most places, but it still seemed like something you could get at Applebee's - they basically just put shrimp and cheese in a tortilla and then you dress it with ingredients as you wish. Sunbury Crab Company is one of my favorite restaurants. The setting under the oaks with the river flowing by- is just a beautiful scene. Last night I had the fresh catch , mahi, grilled with extra seasoning- it was superb! They have their own seasoning instead of blackening- I just request extra to give the kick that I like! My husband had shrimp taco and shrimp quesadillas .. he had enough to bring home for a midnight snack! We enjoyed the laughter and hugs from friends and the welcoming atmosphere! My husband, father-in-law and mother-in-law and I were about three months ago. So enjoyed the whole experience- food, service and relaxed, coastal like experience. I had the special, Chilean Sea Bass and chose okra and tomatoes for my sides. Amazing! I thought of it fondly for days and still do. It was so perfectly prepared cooked and seasoned. My husband thought the same of his scallops and my fish since we shared bites of each other's food. My in-laws chose everyday fare. He had a burger and she had fried seafood of some kind. We went yesterday for the first time. The reservation system worked great. Our table was ready on time. Our server Addison was AMAZING. She handled our large party(8) effortlessly and efficiently. She was such a joy and made our meal memorable. The group shared appetizers, Calamari and Shrimp nachos. Both were delicious and served quickly at the proper temp. Lunch came and it was all timely, HOT and delicious. The Mahi tacos were a big hit, as were the Steamed Garlic Shrimp and of course the Crabs. The location is beautiful, the ambiance is perfect and this is truly a destination dive bar/crab house which we all will return to real soon. On a side note, $1 for a cup of water is ridiculous as is the credit card surcharge. Why not roll those into your selling price on meals? read more

This is an ok place. Hard to find although I've heard it's easier to get to by boat. Actually their flame broiled steak is the best thing we've had there. It's in a neat little area with boat docks you can look out at. Rustic. We took friends of our there tonight for dinner. After waiting for over half an hour for a table on the outdoor area we were almost ready to be seated and one of the waitresses there gave our table away to friends of hers that walked through the door. The bartender tried to get our table back and they refused to move. The waitress there spent most of the time we were there at her friends table laughing and talked no pretty much ignoring everyone else. Friendly, fun, good and fresh seafood. Homely and neighborhood style so if you're looking for something basic but friendly, good portions and summery, this is the spot. This place has so much potential and is in a great location but sadly it seems like the owner doesn't care and rather than it being a great place to drive out of your way to get to it is simply a place that knows it's the only eating establishment around for 25 miles and unfortunately they do not care. The name has "crab company" in it and you would think they would take that more seriously and serve crab dip, crab cakes, crab rolls, etc but they don't they only sell steamed blue crabs which I enjoy but they don't even do that well. They have decided to stop serving drinks in actual glasses and resorted to plastic which nothing makes you happy to go on a date and get served a overpriced glass of house wine in a plastic cup and by the way there was no wine menu. They don't stop there, the silverware comes in a paper sleeve that gives you that Captain D's feel and every condiment they serve comes in a plastic to-go ramakin which they charge $1 for except for the ketchup and cocktail sauce that comes in a squirt bottle that has a so much old sauce stuck on the end it was disgusting and looked as if it had not been cleaned in ages. The plating of the food has about as much flare as scoop of vanilla ice cream served in a white Styrofoam bowl with a white plastic spoon, they literally could not have put less effort into plating the food and were one step away from serving it on a paper plate, which I am sure they will be doing soon. If you are looking for somewhere off the beating path that you have to drive out of your way to get to so you can pay for a sub par meal then this is your place otherwise go somewhere, literally anywhere else and you will be happier and if you are a local that doesn't have any other option then speak up and demand better. This place has fallen so far and I am sad to say that unless they change ownership I plan to never go back. read more

Super perfect way to end my birthday. I've been here before but it was my friends first time. Let me start off with the location. This place is definitely a hidden gem. Not to many people know about it. From what our server told us this place is where majority of the locals come when they want to escape boring ol Hinesville/midway. Obviously we went there at night so we couldn't really enjoy the view but it is pretty stellar during the day time. Our server was freakin awesome. She was throwing suggestions left and right and of course we took them. We started off with the calamari that came with a sweet made in house chili sauce that I'm dying to know the recipe of. The calamari was a little bland but the chili sauce definitely made it pop. I order the shrimp tossed in buffalo with coleslaw which for some odd reason has become a thing for me. The coleslaw was mouth water and the same could defy be said for the shrimp. My friend had the steak. So when he ordered it I wasn't expecting anything spectacular, when it came out I was pretty sure surprised. I don't even know how many oz it was as it didn't state it on the menu but boy was it big. And the flavor man oh man super juicy and tender seasoned just right you really can't go wrong with it. To drink I went with something light as this time it was my turn to be DD, I had the strawberry colada which was perfect and he had two of the strongest long islands I've ever tasted. The bartender is super accommodating btw, my friend was in the mood for something he use to drink while in Korea and the bartender said as long as you can find the recipe I'll whip it up for you. So I thought that was pretty neat. For dessert we shared a lava cake with vanilla ice cream and this definitely was the perfect end to a pretty great night. My husband Jim and I have just started our Great American Loop journey. Reserving a slip in a marina is all new to us. Today we came from Jekyll Island Marina moving North. There are only a couple of Marinas between there and let's say Savannah, which was to far for us to travel in one passage. I am so glad I called Elaine and Barney who own this marina and it's amazing restaurant! When we were approaching the marina, 10 minutes out, the biggest, torrential rain, wind gusts, thunder and lightning hit! Barney was out on the dock waiting for us to come in. He helped us get tied up. We were both soaking wet, but safe. The rain stopped and we treated ourselves to dinner at the Sunbury Crab Company. Dinner was amazing, the service superb. My husband and I stayed in the marina on our journey from MD to FL. As many know, there are few marina options along the GA ICW and this is one of them, even though it is 7 miles off the ICW. There is no town, just a residential area and the Ft Morris historical site. The restaurant is very good along with the quiet scenery of the marsh and the water at the dock. The reason for only 3 stars is that I thought the price per foot was high at $1.75. This marina has no WiFi and no showers and is near nothing. I've stayed at many marinas with more amenities that are closer to a town than this one for about the same price. This is supposedly the discounted rate for Boat US as well. I think they are overcharging customers for what they have to offer. read more
