House salad & 1000 island
Tina H.

Husband had the shrimp plate & I had the salad & baked potato. He said everything was great of what he ordered & my baked potato was pretty good too. Only thing I would change, is the potato seemed a lil over cooked. I like to eat the skin of the potato and this one I was not able to. Great salad, flavor and great service, beautiful atmosphere. Definitely recommend & we will go again.

Hidden gem on the water and off the normal path. Great service, great food, highly recommended.

This restaurant is really off the beaten path deep into a neighborhood. The parking lot is in front on dirt and rocks. The restaurant is huge inside. Lots of outdoor seating as well. It is a very old seafood restaurant. The service was good. However, my server had pimple patches that were peeling off her face. Pimple patches should be worn at night while sleeping not during the day at work. I was almost afraid the patch was going to fall off her face into our food or drinks. The view of the water is beautiful. It is relaxing to sit outside in a netted covered room while viewing the water. Unfortunately, the bathrooms are disgusting!! The food is very bland. It seems this is more of a local only type of restaurant. We felt out of place.

Arrived at 6:15 pm we were seated promptly and by a window perfect!! Then it went downhill, hardly anyone in the restaurant and we waited 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us and then only after they overheard one of our party question should we leave? Received beverages 20 minutes after arrival 10 minutes later the server came to take our order, 15 minutes later after other customers who were seated after us have already received drinks and their food , our appetizer arrived only one in our party got one , They did ask the server to bring it out first , we guessed they figured everyone else would wait for the entrees as well, the crab stew they said was very good and tasty. We all wished we had gotten it but they shared the oyster crackers with us ! So 20 minutes later the food arrived the shrimp were good grits a little stiff broccoli was good, Cole slaw fresh. So we paid at 7:55 and left Not really sure what was going on different servers were carrying food out to the tables around us the whole time we just had the one server only one person got a refill . Shame

This is a nice hometown feel restaurant. I did not stay as I did a call in order. The staff was very friendly. The food was delicious. Had the crab stew and it was full of crab, and seasoned to perfection. The shrimp and grits also very good. I will definitely be back. Next time I think we will eat there.

Glad to see the restaurant reopened. Staff was friendly and service good. You can't miss with the crab stew and fried local shrimp. My favorite this time of the year is a bucket of local wild oysters! Worth the trip! Will be back!

I cannot believe this place isn't packed. The seafood is fresh and expertly prepared. We ate here several times over our week stay and had several different hostesses and servers...every single one was NICE, knowledgeable and efficient. On two occasions we watched dolphins from our table. It was amazing to see them swim upstream with their babies, spinning, blowing and just living life. We had shrimp, oysters, trigger fish, crab stew and clams over the course of our visit. The sides varied but everything was fresh and expertly prepared. The cost was on par with other restaurants in the area but they were far more generous. We truly couldn't eat everything between the two of us. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough!

Trash from the restaurant enters the water. Guarantee you there's nobody there that cares

See the images of the restaurant garbage in the water out front. The men's room is nasty. The food is okay. No lemons available . Staff turnover is continuous, reliably so. Saw a playpen filled with trash adjacent to the dining area, inside

The food was delicious. Well made bar drinks, friendly staff, and a beautiful view. What more could you ask for? The price was well worth the package. Hope to return in the future.

Queen cut Prime Rib

Glad they are back after shutting down. The food was right back to the 5-star standard they had prior to closing for take-out only. Service was outstanding and attentive without being overbearing. Our drinks were full the entire time and our waitress even suggested condiments since there were none on any tables for safety purposes. I had the prime rib cooked rare and it was amazing. Did not come with au jus but I personally don't use any (and it didn't need it). My friend had the burger with sidewinder fries. He love the fries. The entire meal was eaten while overlooking the water. Great experience and keep up the good work.

There was fried fish and fried chicken on the buffet along with green beans, cabbage, Mac and cheese, rice, beans, biscuits etc with apple cobbler and ice cream for dessert. The shrimp here are excellent and always fresh. They do a dinner buffet on Friday and Saturday that has quite a bit of seafood on it as well as steaks, sausages, chicken etc. the dining room is just about always busy as it's a really popular place but the waitresses take good care of everyone. It is not a romantic spot or particularly good for small kids (crowded busy dining room with lots of people carrying buffet plates) but is perfect for people who want really good food at a good price and anyone who appreciated fresh shrimp.

I debated between shrimp and oysters and the buffet. I chose the buffet because the menu indicated there was lots of different seafood the buffet and I was hoping for some vegetables too. Big mistake. There was no oysters, no scallops and only one vegetable, green beans. There was a small salad bar, so I did have some of that. The best thing was the fried shrimp and the shrimp in the shrimp boil. The deviled crab was not good.Sigh, I paid a huge amount of money and was so disappointed. The interior has not been updated at all, which was a surprise as popular as it is. Learned a hard lesson....look at the buffet before you order it. My apology....I posted the wrong picture when I wrote this review. I was catching up on reviews and clicked the wrong one. I have deleted the picture and apologize for the error.

Who was informative, attentive & knowledgeable about the menu and expressed his favorites. My wife & I had reservations for Valentine's Day dinner & as I mentioned earlier, Kyle was our server who did an excellent job! He recommended the Flank Steak empanada & Spinach empanada as well as the Caprese' salad to start the meal. All were awesome! We also had some adult beverages. My wife had a glass of Riesling & I had a vodka tonic with twist of lime. The vodka provided was Kettle One. For the entrees, I had the Flank Steak (medium) with roasted veggies. Steak was done perfectly and veggies were cooked with a little firmness, The chimichurri sauce & herb salt with the Flank Steak was a great addition to the dish. My wife had the Pear & Gorgonzola Sacchetti which was a bit savory & sweet. The presentation was very nice and would say the pasta is like a tortellini. Excellent! To close out the meal, I had another Vodka tonic w-lime & my wife has the Del Sur Ole' Fashion w/Bulleit Bourbon. Both cocktails were spot on! This will be a spot I will frequent more often than other establishments I have frequented since moving to SSI 2 1/2 years ago. If you have never been, you need to put it on your dining wish list! The whole place is covered in pictures and memories, and you can just feel the love in there. It doesn't feel like a normal restaurant at all--it feels like you're stepping into someone's home. The service was amazing too. Our server was so sweet and welcoming, and there was another man helping out who was just as kind. You can tell everyone there genuinely cares about the people who walk in. And Chef Jerome... oh my gosh. He is seriously the sweetest soul ever. You can tell he puts his heart into everything he makes, and the food?? INSANE. Like actually some of the best food I've ever had. Everything tasted homemade and full of flavor. What made it even more special for me was coming back after so many years. Chef Jerome is a piece of SE Georgia history and makes some fantastic food. From the moment we pulled up to the restaurant, Chef Jerome came out and greeted us with hugs and assurances that he was going to take good care of us. The building is eclectic, quirky, rustic, and several more adjectives - but never off-putting. It is comfortable.... When you walk in, you really get a feel for the history of this place - particularly from the tens of thousands of photos that decorate the walls (virtually all of them) throughout the restaurant. There are pictures of locals, travelers and even several celebrities that have feasted at the Diner. Ben Afflect's picture is featured all over the restaurant as he frequents this place whenever he is in town (he even has his own autographed chair hanging on the wall). We were seated in the VIP room and presented with a menu with several good southern dishes from deviled crab, oysters, scallops and of course shrimp to ribs, porkchops, steaks and burgers. They are known for their Wheelchair Platter - which serves 2, 3, or 4 people. This is a collection of things that the Chef has selected for you including fried shrimp, fish, hushpuppies, pork chops, Mac 'n cheese, and other treats. Comes with slaw and potato salad (both fantastic), We ordered the platter for 2 - and it did not disappoint. We also got the sweetpotato logs with a cinnamon dipping sauce (wow!). First - those were some of the best hushpuppies I've ever eaten. Crispy on the outside but fluffy with bits of corn on the inside. yum. Everything else was cooked to perfection. Once we had eaten, Chef Jerome came out and took some pictures (for the wall of course) and had us promising (truthfully) to return soon. This place is a little out of the way. It's down a dirt road and looks a little rustic - but you will be very pleasantly surprised once you go in and let Chef Jerome take care of you. A Definite recommendation! Don't miss this treasure!
