I visited Sunburst Decorative Rock in Irwindale right off the 605 freeway for the first time recently. I was working on a gardening project and really needed some specific white medium sized rocks. I had already checked out Home Depot and Lowe's but their prices were way too high for what I wanted. The people working there were so nice and helpful. They did not try to upsell me or make me spend more money than I had. In fact they did the opposite and helped me find something that was very economical for my budget. The place is impressive because they have a huge yard filled with all kinds of different rocks. They have everything from volcanic rocks to ones that look like they belong in Red Rock. They also have huge piles where you can haul rocks away in a truck for larger projects. I could not believe that they even sell giant boulders there. This is definitely my new favorite place for any rock or gardening projects. I highly recommend checking them out if you want better prices and a huge selection! read more

That place was great. They have a lot of building materials to choose from which is really nice. However, we made a choice on a decorative rock ground cover that was in slot number 50 but it had a very small quantity of rock in that slot. We asked when and if it would be back in stock and was advised by an employee to leave our name and number and no one got back to us which was very disappointing for a well established business. I am hoping the employee will get back to us and I can change my experience rating. I really need their help with my project. David was the employee that originally helped us and was very helpful explaining the materials and process but when we returned to the front office after looking at what they had to offer and deciding on the material, a different employee advised us that if we left our name and phone number someone would get back to us the same day, which we did. We were never told the product we chose was on back order, so we had no idea and therefore were waiting for the call. That is why we waited for the call instead of calling the business to make the same inquire. If we would have either gotten a call or told while we were there that the product was on back order that would have been great, and we could have looked for another option. I completely understand that if it's on back order it's not available and it's out of your control. I just wish that we were advised it was not available as we were very excited about laying down the material we had chosen. Do you need somebody to rock your world, this might be the place to do it. Was told to come here from my landscaper, to just look at the different gravel color options that are available. After filling two 5 gallon pails with the rocks I needed, a helpful attendant weighed them for me. Twenty-eight cents a pound was very reasonable, so I paid at the window and was done. read more

Great customer service huge selection and great prices!!! We walked in thinking of getting 2 scoops of 3/8 black lava.But after talking to the cashier she suggested to go with something different due to us having dogs that shed, she suggested to pick something non pours. We were unable to pick a color during our 1st visit and asked if we could take a few samples,they provided us with ziplock baggies to take home. We chose 2 scoops of 3/8 dessert gold at a better quality and price than the big box stores. We will definitely be going back for other materials. A few tips make sure you use a tarp and block the tailgate gap 3/8 gravel might make it's way out with vibration and bumps on the road. read more

I've recently purchased pebbles from this company. During the delivery, the driver unsafely operated the forklift and slide the whole container to my garage door damage 3 panels of my garage. But owner refused to repairs because she said that we sign the invoice saying that they're not responsible for any damage caused during delivery.....This mean that they can break anything at your property and don't have to pay. Does this make any sense....NOPE! I suggest not to use this company whatsoever, because you will not know what kind of damage they will leave after the delivery and you will have to fix it yourself! read more

Absolutely unacceptable customer service. So you're probably wondering why I gave it 2 . The first time I went to Sunburst the gentleman that helped me was kind and even offered his office for me to nurse my newborn. Fast forward a year, I went back for more of the same rock to complete my yard and was welcomed by a power-tripping lady who's first words to me was "You can't open that!" Delivered at the top of her lungs. I explained that her associate said I could open the bag to look at the rocks inside before I purchased. It was a bag of rocks in a non-tranluscent bag with no open samples. Again, at the top of her lungs she responded, "Well, I am the manager here. You can not open that!" My landscaper recommended sunburst to me to go buy my gravel for my back yard, after trying Home Depot I found out its much cheaper to buy in bulk from sunburst than in bags at Home Depot. They have a large selection of gravel and boulders and were more than eager in helping me select the right one for my project. They also were able to assist me in setting up my gravel to be delivered because it was too much for my landscaper to pick up in his truck. Make sure you go with time because their facility is Huge it took me a while to walk around to see all the materials they carry. read more

We are in the middle of landscaping our yard, and we came to Sunburst Decorative Rock because it provides more than a wide selection of rocks, gravel, and stone from which to choose. In transitioning our yard from stereotypical grass to drought-friendly desert-inspired landscape, we decided that river rocks of varying sizes would break up the foliage and give a sense of softness to an otherwise arid landscape. There are other shapes, in case you need pavers, and Sunburst offers chunky cube-shaped rock...all the better to stack or scatter to make your own rock sculpture. It's super chill and remote, and you just pick out what you want, place it on a palette the side of the path, and ask the front reception to call up their guy with a forklift. He picks up the palette and places it on a weight station: rocks are sold by the pound. We also picked up gravel, and they offer varying sizes and colors. Colored glass even. All in all, a good place to pick out your pet rock. The only bummer is they aren't open on the weekends. read more
