I visited Sunburst Decorative Rock in Irwindale right off the 605 freeway for the first time recently. I was working on a gardening project and really needed some specific white medium sized rocks. I had already checked out Home Depot and Lowe's but their prices were way too high for what I wanted. The people working there were so nice and helpful. They did not try to upsell me or make me spend more money than I had. In fact they did the opposite and helped me find something that was very economical for my budget. The place is impressive because they have a huge yard filled with all kinds of different rocks. They have everything from volcanic rocks to ones that look like they belong in Red Rock. They also have huge piles where you can haul rocks away in a truck for larger projects. I could not believe that they even sell giant boulders there. This is definitely my new favorite place for any rock or gardening projects. I highly recommend checking them out if you want better prices and a huge selection! read more

Hello, thank you to everyone at Sunburst for helping us find a hard to find stone. After speaking with many landscape companies, rock yards and quarries over the last year, we not only found exactly what we needed, but from office staff to the equipment operators, everyone was helpful, often going out of their way to go the extra mile. Huge selection of large and small boulders and it is likely if you don't find what you are looking for on the first trip, they will have it on the next. High quality stones, large selection and professionally run respectful business. Thank you to Armis, Rosie, Dave, Alex, Jesus and Ethmundo as he went out of his way to make things right. Thank you again, Eric read more

That place was great. They have a lot of building materials to choose from which is really nice. However, we made a choice on a decorative rock ground cover that was in slot number 50 but it had a very small quantity of rock in that slot. We asked when and if it would be back in stock and was advised by an employee to leave our name and number and no one got back to us which was very disappointing for a well established business. I am hoping the employee will get back to us and I can change my experience rating. I really need their help with my project. David was the employee that originally helped us and was very helpful explaining the materials and process but when we returned to the front office after looking at what they had to offer and deciding on the material, a different employee advised us that if we left our name and phone number someone would get back to us the same day, which we did. We were never told the product we chose was on back order, so we had no idea and therefore were waiting for the call. That is why we waited for the call instead of calling the business to make the same inquire. If we would have either gotten a call or told while we were there that the product was on back order that would have been great, and we could have looked for another option. I completely understand that if it's on back order it's not available and it's out of your control. I just wish that we were advised it was not available as we were very excited about laying down the material we had chosen. I apologize for the previous one star rating but you must understand our frustration as we thought we were just being ignored. read more

Great place to buy landscaping decorative rocks, stones, and boulders. Good and friendly Service!

I love this place! I've bought several boulders for my environmentally-friendly yard, river rocks, colorful rocks, etc. People generally leave you alone to wander around, which suits me. It's far from my house (I'm in Burbank) but it's definitely worth the trip. read more

So this review was suppose to be released in conjunction with my landscaping review, but because of Covid-19 fast approaching, my yelp reviews were severely affected, so here it is. Do you need somebody to rock your world, this might be the place to do it. Was told to come here from my landscaper, to just look at the different gravel color options that are available. The yard is fairly large but office is a little on the small side. Display case located in lobby showing all the materials, sizes, colored rock, gravel and sand they have available here. Staff working here nice and helpful. Nice place for your decorated rock, gravel & sanding needs. read more

I needed some fairly common rock for a small project at home and I was able to get it here... and SDR had sorted the various types of rock into wire bins which made it easy. After filling two 5 gallon pails with the rocks I needed, a helpful attendant weighed them for me. Twenty-eight cents a pound was very reasonable, so I paid at the window and was done. read more

Great customer service huge selection and great prices!!! We walked in thinking of getting 2 scoops of 3/8 black lava. But after talking to the cashier she suggested to go with something different due to us having dogs that shed, she suggested to pick something non pours. We were unable to pick a color during our 1st visit and asked if we could take a few samples, they provided us with ziplock baggies to take home. We chose 2 scoops of 3/8 dessert gold at a better quality and price than the big box stores. We will definitely be going back for other materials. A few tips make sure you use a tarp and block the tailgate gap 3/8 gravel might make it's way out with vibration and bumps on the road. read more

After searching for the perfect rock for my modern desert scape project I found them here!! I was everywhere from the OC to The Valley and was so happy to find the huge selection here. Once I have my small rock in I'll be coming back for a large focal point rock. The colors of their big pieces are unmatched. Juan helped me out from start (design concept) to even pouring the final product selection in my truck bed. read more

The other reviewers are spot on, there's a lady there causing the 1 star reviews. The guys who did the landscaping said i got about half the qty i ordered and the delivery was 4 hours early. I called Sunburst to confirm if they delivered the correct order. The lady got really mad and said " they don't make mistakes". They made a mistake on the time, is it possible they made a mistake on the qty??? The lady was very rude, i asked her if she can talk nicer. She said "what do you want me to say, i love you?" I just bought the rest from another store. read more

All I can say is, "meh". Visited this establishment a couple months ago in search for options on pea gravel. It took several minutes for someone to come over and assist me with my questions and when he finally did approach me, I wished he hadn't. He seemed unmotivated and uninspired to help me, so I just turned around and left. Made me feel like I was inconveniencing him. So businessesjust don't like money nowadays I guess. (I had to edit my review in response to "david's" reply to which it seems he has removed) David.... you're an imbecile. Don't pretend that this review is fake. You are clearly trying to save face for your sorry excuse for a business by lying. What kind of business owner responds to a review the way that you have? I did go to this location a few months ago and dealt with whoever that sassy guy was (maybe it was you, I don't know). You obviously don't understand how Yelp works. The app saves the locations to which a person has visited and gives you the option to leave a review at a later time. Do you not know how apps and geo tracking works? Maybe you can google this information so you will understand. Or maybe you don't know what "google" is either. So glad I didn't throw away a single cent to your awful "sunburst" scheme or whatever you want to call it (it's not a business). Also, How can you say my review is fake when your place maintains a "One Star" rating? You're an idiot. read more

Paul was so helpful. I'm grateful! I needed the gravels to complete a drainage system. He recommended me the perfect size gravels and spent time calculating how much gravels I need. Then he arranged special delivery for me due to my super narrow drive way. The gravels have great quality and the price is very cheap. They have deals for frontline healthcare workers! Thank you, Paul! read more

I've recently purchased pebbles from this company. During the delivery, the driver unsafely operated the forklift and slide the whole container to my garage door damage 3 panels of my garage. But owner refused to repairs because she said that we sign the invoice saying that they're not responsible for any damage caused during delivery.....This mean that they can break anything at your property and don't have to pay. Does this make any sense....NOPE! I suggest not to use this company whatsoever, because you will not know what kind of damage they will leave after the delivery and you will have to fix it yourself! read more

Absolutely unacceptable customer service. So you're probably wondering why I gave it 2 . The first time I went to Sunburst the gentleman that helped me was kind and even offered his office for me to nurse my newborn. Fast forward a year, I went back for more of the same rock to complete my yard and was welcomed by a power-tripping lady who's first words to me was "You can't open that!" Delivered at the top of her lungs. I explained that her associate said I could open the bag to look at the rocks inside before I purchased. It was a bag of rocks in a non-tranluscent bag with no open samples. Again, at the top of her lungs she responded, "Well, I am the manager here. You can not open that!" I sometimes wonder how people can treat customers this way and expect it to be accepable?? I rather spend my hard earn money somewhere its appreciated. read more

Family and I went to look at rocks for the front yard. Open to public and able to walk around to check out all the supply. Purchasing was easy. Even made a mistake with the rock I wanted. Thanks for the reply owner. Hahaha, "Look bud, we could care less about your yelp review. This is not a burger place where a review is going to make or break us, we have been here for 65+ years and know that every now and then we get customers like you. We as business owners reserve the right to refuse service for smart ass customers like you. Your own landscaper came here to tell us how cheap you are and that you wanted to come complain and wanted "free" product. Sorry that didn't work out for you pal....just some info for you We sell directly to south east and do business with the and send them business daily. I highly recommend Sunburst‼ Dave helped us out and his service was outstanding. Great prices as well. I'll be back when I need more stone.

Terrible customer service. The lady that "helped" us was arguing and talking about another customer on the phone and kept slamming the phone down calling him an ass****. Didn't even care that we were there right in front of her. So rude. We proceed to the back where she pointed for us to go to while she was in the phone. We had no idea where we were going. It's like no one knows how to talk here since they just pointed to us where we needed to go. Seen reviews about how good this David guy was.... Too bad he wasn't here today. read more

My landscaper recommended sunburst to me to go buy my gravel for my back yard, after trying Home Depot I found out its much cheaper to buy in bulk from sunburst than in bags at Home Depot. They have a large selection of gravel and boulders and were more than eager in helping me select the right one for my project. They also were able to assist me in setting up my gravel to be delivered because it was too much for my landscaper to pick up in his truck. We are in the middle of landscaping our yard, and we came to Sunburst Decorative Rock because it provides more than a wide selection of rocks, gravel, and stone from which to choose. In transitioning our yard from stereotypical grass to drought-friendly desert-inspired landscape, we decided that river rocks of varying sizes would break up the foliage and give a sense of softness to an otherwise arid landscape. There are other shapes, in case you need pavers, and Sunburst offers chunky cube-shaped rock...all the better to stack or scatter to make your own rock sculpture. It's super chill and remote, and you just pick out what you want, place it on a palette the side of the path, and ask the front reception to call up their guy with a forklift. He picks up the palette and places it on a weight station: rocks are sold by the pound. We also picked up gravel, and they offer varying sizes and colors. Colored glass even. All in all, a good place to pick out your pet rock. The only bummer is they aren't open on the weekends. read more
