I needed some Weed & Feed stuff for my Lawn. My gardener friend says it the best there is. It's called One Shot and Whittier Fertilizer is the only place in the area that carries it - as far as I can tell. So I came down here. I walked around the store for a minute and found that they have EVERYTHING you need for your yard. All the tools, supplies, fertilizers (Whittier Fertilizer) equipment, EVERYTHING! The guys at the desk were fast and friendly. I told him what I wanted. We walked over, to the display, he grabbed the bag and walked it to the counter. He rang it up, I paid and we were done. Then, I was pleasantly surprised when he walked this 50 pound bag of stuff to my truck and put it in the back. I had to go back a couple of days later because I needed more of the One Shot, and I received the same great service as the first time. Great place. Great Service. Great Selection of products. Called In yesterday and asked if they had gypsum. They said they have 80 pound bags for $8.10 a bag. Went in today they said they only carry 50 pound bags of gypsum for 8.10 a bag. Went in today to buy 2 bags of chalk and they charged me $7.10 per bag. Sent my daughter in yesterday for the same 2 bags and they charged her $8.10 per bag. I just noticed the difference when a compared receipts right now. The confused the gypsum price for the chalk price. I guess these things happen when they look up products on a card file instead of a computer system. This place needs to really be updated. Last time I go in there. Plus the service isn't the best anymore. They need to get new blood in there. read more

I genuinely cannot rave enough about this company. The customer service is top notch, everyone is so friendly and helpful! I find myself regularly driving all the way out from Studio City just to collect all the components for my preferred soil mix. As a small backyard grower, it's so hard to find pumice in larger quantities that isn't whole cubic yards and I appreciate that they carry it in convenient bags. I also greatly appreciate that the team is always willing to load the heavy bags of materials into my car for me. Great company, great products, great service worth driving an hour each way for. Very satisfied with the ease of ordering sod on the phone and going to pick it up. They do offer delivery for a nominal fee. The quality of the Marathon I sod is outstanding and they pack the sod flat as oppose to roll-up which keeps the sod nice. Excellent selection of mulches, compost, fertilizers, manures, soil amendments, wood chips, potting soils, crushed granite, every gardening need. I see a lot of complaints about service, that is because most of their customers are gardeners and landscapers who know what they want. The salesmen/cashiers are crusty, there's five or six of them, all in their late sixties to seventies, they look like retirees, they drink their coffee, and gab with each other endlessly. They look like Chicano versions of Wilford Brimley, or Mike Ehrmantraut from Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul. Not slick service, but they get the job done. Its a stinky, dirty job. The place is awesome with thousands of tons of everything you need. Mountains of materials. Today I noticed dozens of swallows on the property, dive bombing the muddy dirt roads, scooping up mud to build their earthen nests. A very enjoyable sight. read more

Dishonest business practices. These guys tried to bait N switch me. I saw online that the decorative rock that I wanted was $150/yard. Online it also said, call for information about delivery. I called and gave the person my location and asked what the delivery fee was, he told me $150 for my city location and a minimum purchase of 3 yards. I drove to their location to buy the rock and set up a delivery. The person taking the order tried to charge me $180 per yard ($30 more per yard) and told me that the minimum delivery was 5 yards (2 yards more than what I was told over the phone). I told him that the online price was only $150/yard and he said "too bad". I told him that I called and was told the minimum delivery purchase was 3 yards, and now they were telling me it was 5 yards, however, for an additional $40 they would deliver the 3 yards. I know a scam when I see it, so I stopped arguing with the guy and just walked away. I went to Wolfinbarger Landscape in Chino and the online prices were accurate, and the information they provided about the delivery fees and minimums was completely accurate. read more

Purchased a large amount of their vegetable and flower mix nearly 6 years ago when I had just started in landscape design/installation. Remains to be the worst purchase I have ever made. From what I can tell it is mostly sand and a small amount of organic material barely suitable for succulents. The most I can say for it, is that it repels weeds because nothing likes to grow in it. read more
