My local gardener/landscaper friend and I have been trying to visit every single nursery in our radius, so this had been on my radar for weeks. They have a BUNCH of guava and fig trees, among other things like cherries, and some weird-looking exotic fruits I can't positively identify. We also got to see their litter of kittens, and it was ADORABLE! It looks like a mom and dad cat pair had a few babies. They would be roaming around, making the whole encounter feel so cozy and magical. I loved seeing all the different flowers and plants they have to offer, as it is always a huge inspiration to discover something new and beautiful. My friend and I went home with the mimosa pudica (small and large) and some fuschia (also small and large sizes). They were around $8-$15. Some were $12. I ordered a Bilimbi on the Internet nearly three weeks ago. Where is it? I phoned after two weeks, and asked where it was. Without knowing anything about my order, the Mimosa person who answered the phone said, "three days." That was a week ago. I suspect that so many people are waiting for their orders, he just says that automatically. In addition, there is another Mimosa nursery in Southern California that I called. They claimed they have nothing to do with the other Mimosa nursery, which is unbelievable. It seems they are holding my money for whatever reason. read more

The good: My family in NorCal heard about this place and introduced it to me. They have a small parking lot out front and plenty of street parking outside of the small, dirt parking lot. The workers here were friendly and helpful. One of them helped lead me to the plant I was looking for and another helped me carry my plant to my car. The workers were knowledgeable about all of the plants there. There are many tropical fruit trees and rare plants. I was able to find a Utah sweet pomegranate tree here for $30 for my mom. Because it is winter, the plant was dormant with fallen leaves. I hope it fruits come whatever season it fruits in. It is very hard to find tropical fruit trees but they have every kind you can think of here. There are trees for avocado, papaya, jackfruit, plums, apples, cherries, Asian pear, lychee, longan, soursop, sugar apple and much more. There is so much to look at here! The bad: Their other location in Rosemead had larger Utah sweet pomegranate trees. The interesting: You can have plants delivered/shipped! They also have lots of gorgeous bonsai plants. read more

Great assortment of fruit trees from common to rare. It is pleasant to just go by and visit for a short walk to see if they have stocked up on anything new. They have some rare tree sprouts on sale depending on the season along with 5, 10, 20 gallon plants. They have limited hours, however, and you have to go early to go look around. Due to that I wish they'd update their website more often with new or expected arrivals. So far, it is the same information circulating every other month. If they have new arrivals, they haven't posted about them. Some trees are overpriced, but knowing the rarity of availability of the tree is key. Compared to other nurseries or box stores, their prices are competitive with better availability. They also take great care of their citrus trees. In the last fifteen years we've purchased five citrus from this nursery. They are keen on respecting the quarantine guidelines in place and so far all of their plants have been healthy and strong. read more

I came to see the sugar apple plants. Was very disappointed with the selection but did manage to get a tinny tiny plant for $65 in a 5 gallon. It was very expensive as the plant itself is hardly 3 feet tall and very scraggly. Gave 3 stars because the owner did talk to me and gave me a tip about how to treat my new plant. We barely got any service as there were 2 customers buying up the entire nursery with 2 big hauling trucks. They have macadamia trees and many other exotic fruits but a lot of them are in really poor shape. Just be very careful if you chose to come to this place. read more

Popped in a few Saturdays ago to pick up some Pandan plants with my friends and we ended up leaving with more plants then we needed and we ain't complaining. They have a SUPER wide range of plants to check out, whether its for landscaping, fruit lovers or just tiny plant collectors, they have it all here. I do recommend wearing tennis shoes or closed toes shoes when coming here. There is sand/soil and mud, so you will track it to your car unfortunately. This place is going down the drain in terms of the following feedback: - the old short skinny gray haired viet dude, Tom is rude, impatient, and if you ask questions you get a "yes" or "no" like leave me alone attitude, but fast at getting your money when it is time to pay for any plants you buy (which I didn't and will not go back again) - prices are very high Vs other nurseries selling same tropical fruit trees and online - the rude Tom guy tells customers to get a trolley and haul their own fruit trees without asking any workers to help customers Overall, this place has been around for a while and is being very complacent giving customers an attitude like as if this is the only nursery availble selling exotic fruit trees in the whole universe!!! Terribly rude service. I don't believe the elderly Vietnamese gentleman is the owner anymore, at least I haven't seen him there this year. The top guy is much younger now, but just as rude. As if he hates any non Asians. The staff is almost all Mexican, but they can't find anything for you, or sell you anything, they just take care of the plants. Every time I asked them anything they told me to ask the Asian boss. He screamed at me for putting two plants I was buying on the counter next to the cash register. Where was I supposed to put them? I love going to this nursery for my exotic fruit tree needs. I have been a customer of theirs for well over 6 years, but have been window shopping there for about 15 years. I have purchased a strawberry guava tree, pomegranate tree, Logan tree (it died because of my neglect), lychee tree, star fruit tree, Taiwanese guava tree, and just a week ago, a desert king fig tree and Nam doc mai mango tree in 20 gallon container. Their prices are competitive. Although their customer service isn't great, I have managed to get the owner to answer some of my questions, but it is pretty difficult to understand him. The up side to poor customer service is that you can roam around the nursery in peace without an employee following you wanting to chat up a storm and make you feel bad if you don't buy something. I love this aspect of window shopping. Overall, I am happy with my purchases and will be going back again, even if just to window shop. read more

The best source for tropical fruit trees in LA, period. Helpful staff, a wide inventory, and if you go on sale days- great prices. The pricing for this location is much more affordable than the OC location also. I've bought Atemoya, Mango, and Chico sapote trees here that are all doing well. Updated Mar 16 2020.. Man I don't know what happened to this place but the service is horrible now. The old viet dude is so rude now, their inventory isn't as vast as it once was. Also, the nursery will close an hour or so early. They don't ever pick up the phone anymore. I mean, people have to drive some distance to get here and no one ever picks up the phone. Sad. Mimosa Nursery is a great place to find exotic fruit trees & unusual plants. During COVID-19 pandemic, my family would go meet there & visit with one another while social distancing ... it is open air & fun for a toddler to walk through & see different colorful plants & trees to look at, & possibly purchase. I love the fact that they had a mimosa pudica for my daughter (the "sensitive plant") ... so I purchased 2 of them for her to care for, along with a blueberry plant & "cigar flower" plant. The man who answered the phone gave me attitude and asked what type I was looking. I said I don't know, but I had a small plant so I can compare them. I just needed to know if he had the plants. My parents and I visited the nursery today with the intention of leaving with a few fruit trees. We found what we were looking for, but left empty handed after the horrible customer service we encountered while there. We had already chosen our trees and were about to pay when the younger Asian man who was there completely snapped at my father when he asked a simple question. My father was taken aback and decided to leave and take our business elsewhere. He didn't want to answer any questions and walked away and said, "I'm so busy, if you want to but it, buy it, I don't have time for this." He literally stopped for 1 second to talk to us and snapped. Hidden in the middle of East LA near industrial neighborhoods, this nursery is a gem for all people that enjoy gardening. I believe it is owned by a Vietnamese guy because I always see my parents watch Vietnamese TV and this guy is talking about how to take care of trees and advertising about this nursery. They're always having 50% sales and this time, they were advertising longan trees so my parents and I made the trek to the nursery. The guy working there was very helpful and taught my parents how to take care of the tree and how to pick out a good tree. They also sell potting soils and other stuff you would need to plot your brand new tree in your garden. We ended up buying a 15 gallon longan tree for $70 and the workers there were very helpful in loading the tree into my CR-V. The place takes credit card, too. They sell lots of fruit trees, exotic fruits, too! And also decorative trees and plants and flowers. Definitely go here if you are a green thumb. read more

I came here looking for a Fuyu Persimmon tree, and we did indeed find a perfect one. What I didn't expect to find was an entire nursery full of perfect fruit trees and plants. I have been to MANY nurseries before this, but the typical selection and quality of their fruit trees was passable at best. The selection here is vast, and I did not spot any diseased or mis-handled trees in their entire lot. I've read other reviews on the "poor attitude" and "lousy service" that others have received but we were warmly greeted, and every question was answered politely. I can only imagine that tempers flair during their busiest times, and we were lucky to have gone there on a very quiet Monday in November (which is their non-busy time, BTW). For the quality and size of my tree, the price I paid was a BARGAIN, and I already have my eye on another tree, which I'll be coming for soon. There are definitely times, when it pays to drive a bit farther to find exactly what you want. read more

I was thrilled beyond my expectations to find such healthy vigorously growing plants truly from around the world capable of growing right here in Southern California! Although they do have a good selection of plants and fruit plants, it's just not worth dealing with the staff who are super RUDE, and short with their replies when you're trying to ask questions. first time, I brushed it off...I've been here around 3 times and continued to brush off their rudeness but apparently they just treat all their customers as dispensable given all the bad reviews.
