Last summer I was searching for a bat flower & one nursery I called, claimed "no one carries them in Southern California because they can't grow here" ... which is laughable considering a lot of stuff isn't native here but still grows ! Anyways yes there was ONE bat flower plant left. It was quite pricey too around $110. I didn't buy since I have my own plant now (which hasn't flowered yet). I was a bit disappointed when I asked for help. I have been looking for an Egg Magnolia (Magnolia liliifera) which are very hard to find ! When asking the employee, she asked a colleague with her hand held radio. She tried a few times, but no response. She then showed me the very small selection of Magnolias they have - which wasn't much at all. I honestly didn't think she knew what an Egg Magnolia is. Really if you work at a nursery you should know more about plants, because from my interaction I could tell it was her first time hearing about this specific plant. If you're looking for rare plants, you may find what you're looking for. The inventory is quite vast & overwhelming. I suppose for an average person not looking for anything specific, this place would be lovely. I purchased an agave celsii nova for my front yard & a white rhino agave - 6" pot for around $80 which is a steal ! I have not seen them that low anywhere.

We found the Winter Gem Boxwood (WGB) at another nursery, but they only had a few and their condition was so-so. Called Christina asked her if she had them. They weren't at her location, but had a truckload of plants coming in the next day. And, lucky for us we were able to buy them the next day as she promised. Her worker Jose was also very patient, helpful and friendly. Great people, healthy plants/trees/succulents and very affordable prices, especially cause we're retired and on a fixed income. If we need to spruce up our garden more, we will definitely be going back to Carreon Nursery. Note: It's a hidden gem, located in the residential area of San Gabriel/Rosemead area.

We are so happy we did. Right away as we entered we were greeted by a nice lady and then Elton said hello and the rest was history! We must have spent at least an hour to an hour and a half there! Elton is seriously the best and so knowledgeable! He walked us throughout and answered all of our plant questions and then some. He also helped us decide on one (we ended up buying two - not the same but different types) and we were so excited to give them a new home. Elton, you were so friendly! When we arrived, we realized we went to the wrong location (our first visit to Mimosa Nursery was somewhere else apparently!) But we still found what we needed. It was a little hard to find at first, so when you arrive, you might not really see the entrance, so I'll attach photos of what to look for. We were the only ones there, got help when we needed it, and found what we were looking for. It's self-guided; no one greeted us or spoke to us until we needed someone to talk to. The people we were speaking with were knowledgeable about their plants and helpful in packing it so dirt wouldn't fall out. Super easy for us to get in & get out, and I'm sure we'll be coming back again for more!

I picked up a Kishu…read moremandarin tree and a blueberry shrub back in early February, and while they were definitely on the pricier side, they've proven to be worth every penny. Both plants are thriving and already producing so much fruit. It's honestly been so rewarding to watch them grow and flourish. You can really tell the quality and care that goes into their plants.
