There's a lot of SGV nurseries I rotate around, but this is my favorite one right now. The property is pretty big with shaded sections with many many options, from cactus and low water shrubs to indoor plants and native plants. Prices were very competitive, when I was there today, a lot of the pots were on sale too. I was actually just there to get some mulch. My favorite part was finding native plants here. And I managed to snag the last white sage, and they still had plenty of narrowleaf milkweed for anyone else also looking to help save some monarch butterflies. I also love that this nursery has been around for 35 years and the owner is still super active, chatting with customers and carrying my mulch bag for me. The nursery is pretty much in the middle of nowhere in Pasadena. I arrived at around 4:50 p.m., just about when they were closing. Two Latino staff members were very kind and helpful, though they did not speak much English. The place feels more like Descanso Gardens than the Huntington Library. It has a more natural, relaxed atmosphere, with a less formal and more organic layout. The plants feel closer to their natural state, which gives the whole nursery a very pleasant and genuine charm. What really stands out is the price. It already looks cheaper than Armstrong, and possibly even negotiable, but the quality does not feel worse at all. The plants look healthy, beautiful, and well cared for, so it feels like a better-value choice rather than a lower-quality one. They have mostly green plants, with only a small selection of flowering plants, but everything looks great. For plants, especially shrubs, many varieties come in different sizes at different price points, so you can choose based on your needs and budget. read more

Visited this place a few days ago and felt it was a hidden gem with some gorgeous heirloom flowers and plants . Their pottery collection was amazing and a great deal need to come back for some large pretty heavy one of a kind unique landscape pieces! Discovered this Pasadena gem recently thanks to friend and horticulturalist. A totally unique space and now my go-to for ideas, advice and monster selection of trees, shrubs, annuals, perennials and more: plants, pots, fertilisers. On it goes. So much to find here. Parking within the sprawling but super-efficiently organised grounds. If, like me, you'll leave with more than you expected...every visit. There's a lot to discover, prices are reasonable and stock clearly cared for and frequently added to. Craig, owner, is great and totally on the ball. His knowledge is vast, an excellent communicator and happy to advise - if you're looking for help, share his enthusiasm with a great sense of humour in the mix. He'll load things for you, if required, which has been so appreciated by me. He's been generous, putting things on hold until I was able to dig myself out of organisational chaos and return for some beautiful raspberry Grevillea, now flourishing in the courtyard as hoped. Every visit here has been an eye-opener for me. I look forward to returning and showing him pix of some of the loveliness I've been able to create with his input and fantastical nursery. read more

Stumbled upon this place on Yelp when I was trying to find a new nursery (nothing wrong with my usual SG Nursery but just wanted to discover something new). I am so glad we found this gem. If you're looking for houseplants, they have a large selection - begonia maculata, very large and lush pothos, snake plants, rhapidora tetrasperma (mini monstera), philodendron... You name it... Everything is a very reasonable price. Example, my begonia was $9! If you're looking for veggies and herbs, they do have a midtier selection. The thing that sets them apart from other nurseries is that they have plants you wouldn't find elsewhere normally. They have ghost peppers, buzz buttons, Vietnamese coriander, lemon balm - just to name a few. I actually came to look for pansies, which they did have. They had many other flower varieties as well (picked up a viola also). They did have a variety of succulents and cacti as well. I didn't stay around for succulents but their pricing was a tad more than other places I've seen. If you're looking for fruit trees or other landscaping, they have plenty. They also offer a great terracotta and glazed pots. I keep seeing the name Albert in reviews. I am not sure if I spoke to him, but I did speak to a gentleman who helped me with the buzz button. He was very knowledgeable and was extremely nice! 10/10 I will come back! read more

This is my favorite nursery in the Pasadena/Arcadia area. The dude and the lady who work here are SO HELPFUL. They have great advice and care about helping you find what you need and tell you how to make it thrive. They have a wonderful selection of all sorts of plants and the prices are more than reasonable. I'm always happy to come browse and rarely leave without one or several interesting, very healthy plants. read more

Stopped by to pick up a couple of house plants and the selection was so great that I ended up buying a car load. Excellent prices, fantastic service, pleasant experience. They also had a good selection of pots from tiny to very large outdoor pots which were very well priced. My husband and I needed to add hedges along the side of our home for privacy. We had been to several nurseries and landscapers before we finally met Craig. All the other vendors prior to Craig were either incredibly expensive, late for appointments, or just flakey. Craig came in and was extremely knowledgeable. He told us pros and cons for different types of hedges to help us make our decision. He was very straightforward about his timeline, which I was so grateful for. We asked him to look at our irrigation system as well. We found so many issues but he was never pushy in trying to force us to do anything. He just gave us the information and let us decide what we wanted to do with it. His price was VERY reasonable. The work took 3 days and Craig and his guys went above and beyond to install 18 hedges, a new drip system, and a new timer. You can tell Craig takes pride in his work and he makes sure that everything is done right. He's also ALWAYS willing to explain things to you. I've texted him a few times asking watering questions and he always responds. The work was done well and we can't wait to do our next project (more landscaping) with Craig. I'll keep posting with updates. We also stopped by the nursery and picked up our first houseplant. She's a beauty! read more

I LOVE this plant nursery. For one, they are super friendly! And second, they don't follow you around the garden. They let you do your own thing. They have ALL sorts of cool plants here from palms to succulents, to herbs and veggies!! I left with a monstera, string of pearls, and string of hearts. Great nursery! Needed a few new pots so stopped in and was pleasantly surprised by the variety of plants. I vowed no new plants until I get the ones I have potted but I will certainly be back when I am ready to expand. I found pots I needed and some I love that I will be back for when they restock and when I find an excuse to add another plant to my ever growing urban garden. Craig was super helpful with pot sizes and even gave tips for a couple of challenges I'm having with my rubber plant. He also gave great suggestion to cover the drainage holes by adding a piece of broken clay pot to the bottom. read more

Great nursery here in Pasadena. Family-owned with Al the father being in business for 30+ years. We received a gift (landscaping for the backyard) from my mom this past December and we hired Craig, Al's son to design and do the installation. Craig and his crew have a number of project's lined up and we waited approximately three weeks to get started. He finished yesterday, 4/30/2021, and the attached pictures were taken a few hours after they left. Part of the installation included moving the existing sprinkler system and setting up drip lines. Overall, GREAT work and I'm heading back to the nursery with a friend to get some more plants for our front yard and fertilizer for the lawn. The friend is getting fertilizer for her plants. Been here multiple times, there's a great selection of every type of plant from vegetables to succulents to large bamboos to Japanese maple. The nursery is big and small enough without being overwhelming or not having enough. Love asking and getting advice from Al the owner. Price is fair, maybe a little higher for specialty plants though.
