Before buying, we asked what happens if they don't survive. Sales rep: "No worries, we'll help and figure something out." 4 of 5 died in less than 6 months. (The fifth is thriving - proving it wasn't the care.) When we reached out, they claimed "all sales are final" and that this is noted on receipts. Our receipt has **NO such language.** When we sent them a copy proving this, they've ignored us completely. 80% failure rate. False statements about their policies. Then radio silence when caught. Hard pass on BLVD. Go to Armstrong Garden Centers instead (352 E Glenarm St, Pasadena - 626-799-7139). Armstrong is employee-owned, has been serving California for 130 years, offers ACTUAL LIFETIME GUARANTEES on plants (not fake verbal promises), and their staff actually responds when there's an issue and with integrity. I was here when they had their 30% storewide sale, so that made it more worth it. I recommend to check them out to see if they have the plant that you're looking for. [ Service ] There was only one worker when I was there so I wasn't sure where to pay when I didn't see anyone, but once I spotted the gentleman again, he kindly walked me to the check-out area (near where they sell the planter pots). Please do your own research before purchasing an expensive plant here. I purchased a $700 large money tree that was placed in a shallow pot with no drainage holes and it completely died very soon after. I did my own research after and found out money trees are not meant to be in shallow pots with no drainage because they are very susceptible to root rot easily. Even when I went back to ask why all my leaves fell they blamed the placement of the tree when all along it wasn't in a safe pot to begin with and only used as an aesthetic pot. Even when I asked about watering it, I was told different information each time which should have been a red flag. Please just be cautious because I'm questioning the amount of knowledge this location has on plants and their pots vs just making it aesthetic so people buy it. read more

Pretty plant shop in Pasadena! Entering and exiting the parking lot is not the best but hey, at least there is a lot! I picked up some planters to bring home before the stay at home order was issued and I liked what I saw. Decent prices (a good amount more than The Home Depot though) and loads of gorgeous plants that looked like they were in good condition. As far as planters go, I wish they had more of a selection because a lot of them were either terracotta or plastic pots and I was looking to find something more along the lines of what I've seen online at The Sill and Bloomscape (the prices aren't far off, but I was hoping to avoid shipping delays). Great hipster nursery. There are two sides to the nursery - one completely outdoors and the other side of the alley is where they have anthuriums, calatheas and aglaonema indoors. I love how many plants this nursery has and the range of sizes. You can get a huge mature plant. A medium sized one or a baby. Love the variety for home size. I scored a chocolate mint plant from here for only $3! All staff and customers are required to wear masks. They also practice social distancing. We ended up getting a few plants: Peace Lily, Snake Plant, Rubber Plant, and a Calathea Madellion along with a few pots. What can I say about this place. I love this place. If you look through my reviews, I visited a bunch of nurseries in the greater Los Angeles area. This place is our favorite. The nursery is a good size. It's not huge like some of the other places I visited but it's big enough. There's a great selection of plants and a fantastic selection of succulents. Almost all of the succulents looked great and the prices were very reasonable. This is the place that we will shop from now on. The only thing is the pebbles were a bit on the pricey side. We wanted to get white pebble stones with our succulents but it was $90 for 50 lb bag. We would need at least 4 of those bags. Yikes! So we went to Lowes and found something similar for $6 for 20 lb bags. There's a small parking lot that holds about 6-7 vehicles. I highly recommend checking this place out. read more

They have some of the best variety of indoor and outdoor plants, good quality pots, and friendly, helpful staff! I have visited a number of nurseries in the area (Pasadena, Alhambra, San Gabriel, etc), and this place seems to have the healthiest plants I have seen so far. I bought about a dozen indoor and outdoor plants from them about 2 months ago, and they are all going quite strong (except my bougainvillea, which were attacked by aphids about a month ago, but they are finally recovering). I like that they have a range of sizes for many of their plants, so if you want a smaller version, or don't want to pay for a 5 ft tall plant, you can get a more economically priced one to grow at home. They also will probably have all of the trendy plants and stylish pots you are looking for. Think fig plants, rubber plants, all types of succulents and cacti...from thumb-sized to towering 6+ ft above you... Also, if you buy a plant and a pot there, you can ask them to pot it for you for free (you just have to come back to get it the next day). Highly recommend! Highly recommend Blvd Nursery! One thing that stands out the most about the half dozen or so time we've been to Blvd Nursery is the insane helpfulness and legitimate knowledgeability of all the staff members, from the men working the floor to those at the cash registers. Not to mention their massive variety of indoor and outdoor plants, many of which are sold at several stages of maturity (teeny weenies to super tall trees), so you can find the perfect plant for nearly whatever you're imagining. Ficus, fiddle leaves, hydrangeas, zebra plants, you name it; with reasonable prices. They have a lot of pottery too, although I haven't perused their stock as much as I have the plants themselves. Parking is a little rough; if you come on a busy day (weekends) you may have trouble parking in either of their two small lots, but there is street parking as well. Staff is happy to pack up and help you with carrying out larger purchases too, such as bags of soil. read more

I really enjoyed visiting this nursery! It's quite spacious and they offer parking in their own lot. The employees were friendly and helpful. They have a huge selection of outdoor and indoor plants. They had a great selection of cacti of all sizes and a lot of beautiful bromeliads to choose from. My favorite part was the large hanging plants section. Updating for COVID-19! Nurseries are currently considered essential businesses and therefore allowed to remain open during the shelter in place order. I've only really ventured out for groceries up until now, but with all this time cooped up inside, I was really wanting to add a few new plant friends to the mix. I was super happy to hear that Blvd is open for both shopping (using social distancing measures, of course!) and curbside pick up. I live within walking distance so I stopped by over the weekend figuring I could just walk home if it felt too busy, but it wasn't bad at all and people were good about wearing masks and keeping a distance. I picked up two new plants that were already at great prices, but scored an extra 10% off with their Yelp check in offer. Hot tip: the business has recently uploaded photos of plants they have on hand, and when I was there a couple days ago, everything was looking healthy and well stocked. They answered the phone as soon as I called, so feel free to peruse their Yelp photos and call with questions or to place an order. Great spot to pick up plants for your yard, porch, ground cover, or inside the house. They've also got soil and some pots (in the back room behind the register) so you don't need to make multiple stops. Most of the nursery is outdoor, so it definitely feels a little less stressful than a grocery store. Parking is available onsite or on surrounding streets. Today's experience kept weighing on my mind so I decided I should write a review. Let me start with the overall experience. Been here a couple times, selection is good and they have many of the popular houseplants. They dont tend to get the rare and uncommon plants, but do have some treasures come in every once in a while. Prices tend to be higher but not overly expensive. Still, I'm on a budget so I dont purchase much when I come, often leaving empty handed-it's still nice to browse though. Staff is always friendly. Plants seem to be in good health. Onto what pushed me to write a review. FALSE SALE ADVERTISING. I actually went to visit and wanted to purchase a Hoya Tricolor today because I saw they had this amazing Yelp check-in offer 30% sale. When making my purchase, I asked to use the Yelp discount. The cashier told me the sale was no longer valid and it was left up from a couple weeks ago. I didn't want to make a fuss since I already drove all the way there and was at already at check out, plus the cashier offered a 10% off discount instead and the price of the plant wasnt that expensive anyway so I continued with the purchase. Still, as I continue to think on it the more bothered I am as a big reason I drove to the nursery was because of the discount they posted on their Yelp page so I feel they still should have honored it. It's dishonest marketing and a obvious bait and switch. I thought about rating a 3-star but bumped up to 4 due to reasons pointed above on good customer service and past good experience plus the fact I still bought the plant, so part of it is on me for not standing my ground when purchasing. I would probably rate a 3 1/2 if possible. Once a sale is no longer valid, it should be taken off immediately so your customers do not feel as if they are being cheated. On another note, they are selling 2" Variegated String of Hearts for $10.99 at the moment, which I think is a food deal so best to snag it now if you're interested and you still can. read more
