We had three pine trees that were overcrowding our much too small backyard. They had been planted over 40 years ago much too close to the house, when no one had any idea how big these would get. The roots had started to push up the surrounding pavers and break up the concrete walkway and we worried that they would soon break up the foundation of the house so it was time to get them removed. We knew this would be a difficult task to handle by ourselves considering the size of the large and heavy branches that were near power lines and hung over the roof of the house, so we decided to hire Solano's tree service for the job. Cesar was easy to work with and made the job seem like it was a piece of cake. While he was quoting the initial project, I also asked him about our overgrown ivy tree that was desperate for a trim. Cesar gave us a great quote for the whole job and got scheduled for the following week. I also asked how long the project would take and he estimated about 4 hours. Day of the job, Cesar's team showed up promptly prior to the start time of 8:30 and got to work right away. They were able to quickly cut down the branches and maneuver them through the small work space. It was quite impressive. Once the trees were down, he grinded down the stump and roots so the ground would be flush for new pavers to be installed. Also the ivy tree looks nice and trimmed now. Not very good. I was charged for $400 and only 5 days later the grass all grew back, the guy who is responsible for pulling out the grass, he did not remove the roots. He only just did the surface and remove the leaves. Although I removed two front plants it could cost slightly more, but the whole process take 2 people only 30 minutes. I was in a hurry to work, so my husband take over it, and they only stay for another 5 minutes, and the yard was left not clean enough. When I come home, dirts are still on the ground, front and back both can see dirts, they didn't tidy up the garden. Previously I hire another gardener, their job are clean, and the grass grew slow, I have about 6 months of grass free. And they only charge for $100 for 2 people. After the initial estimate appointment, Cesar was able to complete the job the very next day with his team. I wasn't home for most of the time while they were working, but he texted me for clarification on a couple of things. We had a relatively simple and small/medium-size job for our side/backyard. We needed to remove 4 trees (1 was really large and the other 3 were medium/small) and some stumps plus all their roots as well (1 medium size and 5 or 6 smaller ones but these smaller ones were in a small space between a concrete wall and our concrete driveway). I got 3 quotes and Solano came in the lowest by far - one contractor who came in at a higher price even said they probably couldn't take out the stumps/roots in between the concrete wall and our concrete driveway because the space was too small for the machine. Cesar was really easy to work with. We exchanged a few texts and able to schedule the job within the same week and his team came on time the day of the job (yesterday). My husband moved my car from the driveway and left our side gate open for them in the morning so they got started right away when they arrived. Once they were done, Cesar gave me a text and I came out to check everything and everything was removed as expected/looked fantastic, and all the debris and dirt was blown away too. Yesterday was also really hot but they worked quickly and professionally. I felt really bad that our payment didn't get through to Cesar's account right away (we paid via Zelle and it stayed pending for a day), but Cesar was really patient and thankfully the payment went through this morning. I had a dead maple amber treehouse that cracked at the middle during high winds, luckily it fell towards the tree next to it but at any moment would have come crashing down on my house and or my neighbors house. I had called a local tree trimming company (Steve's tree trimming) and it took the one guy an hour to come out and assess the tree. Mind you this was an emergency and I needed to have cut down. The guy that came to the house was named Ray Sanchez. Worst attitude! I even asked him why he was so angry. His remark back was he's stressed. Then he told me he couldn't cut the tree till the next day. Plus his price was outrageous! If you think that we get what we pay for think again! After a rocky start we gave Cesar another chance. it cost us nearly $3000 dollars for a job that we now need to pay someone to re-do. the shorter version: He quoted a price, we said ok. In the middle of the job he claimed he had to charge an extra 700.00 and since it was mid job we said ok. When we asked him to look at another issue he did, then told me that was an extra inspection charge of 150. after discussion he "waived the fee". After all this we still were giving him benefit of the doubt and wanted monthly maintenance. they came once; since I was home I can attest that they spent 9 minutes with a blower. no weeding, no trimming, no nothing. I told him blowing leaves was not what I needed and he assured me that every other visit was when they weed and trim. the never came back. Now that rainy season is over I activated the timers on the irrigation. It is no good; one section of the back works, the other does not; nothing in the front works. It is no wonder he only takes cash. I have still given him the opportunity to make things right by texting him, since February 28, and he is ghosting me. Save your money and look elsewhere. read more
