I have never used their services, but I did have a personal consultation. Efrain sounded like a really nice man, but I needed someone that could speak English as my previous gardner and I could not communicate. Efrain came with a translator who wasn't going to be with him on the job. The translator quoted me a ridiculous price for the job and I just knew this business was not for me. Who knows they might have done an outstanding job, but I didn't approve of the price. read more

My front yard, a corner lot plus park strip, was 2' deep in weeds. It was an embarrassing mess. Portillos came and had it cleaned out in a day. Plus, they moved things for me to make the space neater, they blew out my entire yard, front and back, when they were done and everything looked brand new. The crew were hard working, friendly, and cleaned up after themselves. Thank you Portillo Garden Services. I'll be back. read more

Our yard was destroyed after we remodeled our house. It had become overrun with weeds and was uneven. They were very responsive, leveled everything and put in irrigation and sod. I recommend them. read more

They did a stellar job at cleaning up my yard. It had gone untouched in almost a year because of life circumstances that kept the hubby and I too busy to maintain the backyard. The pricing is fair and well worth the cost given it was a big task. I highly recommend their services. read more

Wastes an exorbitant amount of your time. Goes back and forth with questions you've already answered and then doesn't turn up.

I hired this company to trim all the trees on the property including ficus trees and the very tall Eucalyptus trees in front of the building. The team did an excellent job. They were very communicative, courteous, respectful of the property and on time! They took all the trash and cleaned everything all around the property before leaving. I very highly recommend Eliana and Efrain's team and will be using them anytime I need this type of services! read more

They're honest, efficient, and do immaculate work for the best price. Entirely fair and well worth the cost.

I hired Efrain to do a big clean-up of my yard and lay new gravel and mulch, and he and his team did a wonderful job! Would highly recommend. Prompt, thorough, kind, and affordable. I'll be hiring Portillo again! read more

We are so appreciative of Eliana and Efrain! They are truly a family run business who are passionate about their work and care about their clients. We hired Portillo Garden Services to redo our sprinkler system, lay new St. Agustin grass and pavers in our front yard, and install artificial turf in our backyard. Our front yard wasn't as straightforward as we thought it would be, there were giant tree roots from a sidewalk tree that was impeding on our yard, and their team worked hard to ensure all roots were removed before laying the new sod-amazing! Eliana is so diligent about communicating every step of the way and was so responsive to any questions we had. The job they did is of high quality and I would highly recommend to anyone looking for landscape work to be done. read more

These guys came to my house and did a beautiful job of pruning my palm tree. It had not been trimmed in at least a decade or so, and they did the work so quickly and hauled away all the debris all within an hour or two. Very pleasant to deal with, great communication in giving a quote over yelp, and they accommodated my schedule as well. Can't say enough good things, and hope to use them again in the future read more

I had an appointment with this company today for an estimate. They specifically told me they had to come to the property to give an estimate so I changed my schedule around to meet them. They didn't show up or call. When i called them 30 minutes after the scheduled appointment, they didnt pick up my call. They texted me after saying we couldnt make it. These people are extremly unprofessional. They wont show up to do the job, so go somewhere else! Save yourself the trouble. read more

These guys did an amazing job! I have a lot of shrubs and bushes that need to be hand trimmed. Every landscaping company I hired ended up flaking on us. I reached out to Portillo's and they were great with communicating and scheduling their visit to provide a quote. It was last minute but they were able to schedule the job that same week. They are a bit on the pricier side, but their quality of work was excellent and they were very reliable. I highly recommend them for your yard work as they are detailed and hard working. read more

Ask for a quote and made an appointment to see the project. Did a walk through and gave recommendations. The wife said she will get back to me, that was three months ago. Very unprofessional. read more

I needed complete front yard re-landscaping, including removal of existing ivy, and a very old juniper hedge, and ancient irrigation system; and replacement of new irrigation system, new sprinkler controller; new valves, all new shrubs; complete coverage of large front yard slope, and both sides of the driveway. Portillo was on time, the plants they used were large and healthy, they cleaned up every day, and made great recommendations. read more

We needed ficus trees planted along the fence in our backyard. They estimated we needed 65 trees. We trusted them and accepted their recommendation. They ended up only using 35 of those trees. They overestimated greatly. The trees were also planted 6 inches apart from each other. They were literally squeezing them together to fit as many as they could b/c they realized they made us order too many. These are supposed to be planted 2-3 ft apart. They then tried to convince us that it will grow beautifully, and that we have nothing to worry about. They likely wanted to order as many as possible so they could profit off each tree since they get a discount from their supplier. They charged us full price for each tree, and bought it for cheaper. What a terrible experience! On top of that, we purchased a large tree through them that costs over $1,000. They planted this tree, and we watered the tree according to their recommendation, and this tree was dead within a few months. We just paid to have it removed because it was in danger of tipping over onto our garage. They did cut a slab of cement for us which we were happy with, but we paid $1,200 which is probably too much. So overall, we overpaid for their services, and then they did an unbelievably poor job. read more

Frustrated with the service. - not professional - did not respond to calls. This is my number 1 complaint. - do not have a formal way to accept payment. Requested that I leave a check hidden in the yard. These were not visible by my perimeter cams unfortunately. And twice checks were left and picked up. They claimed not to have picked them up and in fairness they were not cashed. But would prefer better way to pay. - I have a small patch of grass, about 10 rose bushes, and some fruit trees. The service really only involved trimming the grass weekly, minor weeding. They claimed to be 'servicing the fruit trees' but I know this not to be true as I have someone actively putting in an irrigation system and they have reported no work being done there. Essentially paying for mowing lawn weekly and being charged for more. - Not all the sprinklers work which I found on my own with no feedback from them - I have shown them the sprinkler control system but clearly not being checked. - lastly, this is not meant to be inflammatory, but inaccurately they have an English number listed. I speak moderate Spanish so this is not a huge barrier. read more

Efrain is a very honest and dependable gardener. He works very hard and leaves our 1 acre lawn looking great every week. He does other tree and landscaping services and he's very affordable. After years of using a super cheap mow, blow and go type gardener that couldn't care less about how our yard looked, my wife and I decided to redo our yard and hire a quality team for weekly maintenance. I am so glad we used Portillo for both of these! Efrain and his wife Eliana are a great team and their workers are all family. They are responsive, trustworthy and most importantly deliver a beautiful product that will serve as a lasting investment in our home. We had all of our front sprinklers done, decomposed granite installed in a large portion of the yard and new dozens of new plants put into the yard. We are very happy and can only recommend this company for quality, responsiveness and honesty. read more

Portillo and the crew did our front yard recently. they were very professional , came early and worked hard all day and finishing everyday by washing the driveway and putting everything in place. I would give zero stars but that's not an option on yelp. I called this company on Monday and asked if they had someone to come out to mow my yard because my gardener was on vacation. The woman scheduled for 7am the following morning. We confirmed through text messaging. They showed up at 7:25 and would not mow my yard without hiring them permanently. Why on earth would I give someone my regular business that's so shady. They didn't even bring a lawn mower with them. Very sketchy. read more

I am very pleased with the installation of a sprinkler system by the family owned team of Efrain, Eliana and cousin(s). The old system was incomplete and had been installed poorly. A lot of work was done over several days to get the overall system working great. It was appreciated that a few little extras were included in the scope of the project, without request. They followed up by returning to the property a week after the project was complete, just to check on everything. I highly recommend this hard working and highly conscientious team. read more

They just built a ficus hedge for me. 170 15-gallon pots of ficus planted with dripping irrigation system installed in 3 days. Lots of work in a short period of time. Fortunately, the weather isn't too hot like last week. They did a fine job and cleaned up very well afterwards. I'm retaining them for monthly maintenance too. read more
