I highly recommend Family Tree Service. Victor and his crew are amazing - they are highly skilled, professional, and the most efficient group I've ever worked with. From the outset, Victor impressed me with his knowledge and professionalism. They cut down about 10 very tall cypress trees and 5 huge overgrown trees that hadn't been touched in 15+ years. They also demolished an old shed anchored in concrete, graded the area, put in grass and planted 7 new cypress trees along the border. In addition, they removed an old non-functioning BBQ structure and cut down about 5 palo verde trees in the front yard. All of this was done in just 2.5 days, and the results exceeded my expectations. These guys know what they're doing and have a lot of experience. Victor and I first verbally agreed on the scope of work and price, and he followed up with a contract that reflected exactly what we discussed. I had such a GREAT experience with Family Tree Service. It was a pleasure to work with Victor. He was professional, knowledgable and friendly. Communication with this company was great from start to finish. First impressions are important to me and when I called to ask for an estimate, the woman who answered the phone (I believe she's his daughter) was super nice and made me feel good about getting a quote to remove an ugly stump ruining the tree line in my backyard. Can't say enough positive things about Family Tree Service! We had a 120+ year-old oak tree on our property which was dying and, after multiple consultations with arborists and multiple attempts to save it, the time came for removal. The job required a huge crew, a crane, a guy attached to the crane climbing in the tree strategically cutting the correct limbs to safely dismantle the tree. Honestly, watching the process was better than TV. Victor was great--he kept us updated throughout the course of the project and even had his team cut us a chunk of the tree as a souvenir. While it was sad to lose the tree, I couldn't be happier with the care, thoughtfulness, and professionalism we experienced with Family Tree Service and have already recommended them to a friend who also needs major tree removal on his property. read more

Called Family Tree and had Victor Sr come by for a quote, gave me a good price for tree removal/cleanup and we agreed.10-11 days later Victor Jr and Sr. came by with a huge crew to do the cleanup and tree removal (also including my front yard which isn't in the pictures, plus my back alley which was full of weeds) and they amazingly finished everything in 4 hours! I decided to go with them for the landscaping afterwards since they did such a good job with the cleanup and was happy with that process as well. Victor Sr. was on site the entire time for my job which made me feel at ease. It was also nice to deal with someone who actually lives nearby, and I interacted with 4 members of Victor's family in the process - 2 sons, nephew, and daughter, very cool! We had a bit of an emergency, our Chinese elm had uprooted and was resting on our neighbors roof. Called Family tree service, Victor came the very next morning( Thursday)and gave us a very competitive quote. Saturday morning the crew arrived and worked diligently in ours and our neighbors back yard. No cranes, just very skilled men who took great care not to cause any damage to our neighbors property. This review is about the customer service, not the tree services themselves. The team is poor at responding to messages and answering calls. Victor Jr came over to provide a quote and was efficient on site, promising to send a cost breakdown so we could coordinate with our neighbor. However, the quote was never sent. Instead, we received a call asking if we were ready to start the job the next day. When we followed up about the breakdown--necessary for the neighbor to decide--what we received was a passive-aggressive message from Victor Jr, stating there was no breakdown and asking again if we wanted to proceed. While the service itself might be good, we'll never know because the terrible customer service makes it impossible for us to work with them. read more

FTS was the cheapest of the three quotes, and they were also willing to start the earliest - they completed the job the next day. The workers were efficient and cleaned up the trimmings. Requested a quote for tree trimming and irrigation wiring. Good communication. Victor came out for an estimate. Very nice and seemed knowledgeable. Gave me a price higher than I could afford and higher than I have paid in the past. Then it got weird. Kinda a bartering process began from his end. I kept just asking for a written quote stating I had other estimates scheduled. He kept pushing to sign something then and there. Using all kind of reasons to explain his higher costs. Either lying or pathetic. I asked for them to trim a pepper tree, and so it was arranged. However, they arrived, unpacked, and then gave up a few minutes later. They claimed there were endangered ground bees that were attacking their workers. I had 3 separate bee specialists come to confirm they were liars. They sent a video of the stump showing about 2 bees buzzing. A couple of months after spraying the tree with repellent, they returned and claimed again they were being attacked by bees. After all this, they demanded payment for doing absolutely nothing. They are lying cheapskates. Imagine going to the mechanic, and they refuse to work cause they are afraid of grease. If you trim trees for a living, it is shockingly stupid not to know how to handle bees. read more

I have a few oak trees in backyard, one split down the middle, some dangerous stuff. One half threatened to destroy my neighbor's house, the other half my house, it was no joke. What made it worse was that time was not on our side. So Victor Jr and Victor Sr show up, they assess the situation, and 3 days later it was gone. They first had to sew the tree back up so it was not splitting, then they started chopping it down. I didn't sleep for 3 days. It was bitter sweet since these trees here are what make up the canyon here, taking this tree down brings no one any joy but the alternative would have been 2 demolished homes. Thanks Family! I should state that living in the canyon means narrow roads, low hanging trees, things that make the operating environment very difficult. They were able to operate around this. What's more, this tree presented quite a dangerous environment for the crew of 10 or so, so they are risking their lives to make sure you can get on with yours, please be conscientious of that. And if it takes longer than anticipated, it is because they want to make sure everyone returns home safe. I would attach photos of the tree but it brings back these bitter sweet memories so I won't do that. read more

Work was done quickly, the crew were quick and very courteous, and they left the worksite very clean. The sprinkler job ended up being a little more complex than anticipated, but they came by the next day and knocked it out.
