We went for ATV rides, at 90$ per person for 30mins of class/orientation with 1.5hrs on the mountain trail. The buggy ride is around 50$. We went 6 in number and 2 of them weren't able to ride because in the "how to ride class", one vehicle failed and in demo, another friend wasn't able to ride properly; they were added to the buggy with another instructor; however, they wanted to charge us 90$ for the ride, when asked, they gave us back 30$ each hesitantly. Other than that, the place is nice. They have birds, other pet and wild animals. They have horses for horseback riding too. I like their zipline adventure even though we didn't do it there. I would really suggest to anyone who wants to do it for the first time. read more

The 4 wheelers were brand new but the guides drove like they were driving 2 year olds. We never got any speed and for the most part were at a slow roll. The view was decent and one of the guides was super nice. Waste of money. read more

We've been coming to the N Ga mountains for 20 years and this was the first time we visited Sunburst - unfortunately we didn't decide until the last minute to do the zipline so the only option for our family of 5 was the level 1 (the shortest tour). We had a blast! Our three teenagers especially loved it. We will definitely be back and will plan in advance to do the longer tour! Our only complaint was that we didn't have longer to have fun. read more

Fantastic experience! We did the UTV adventure. It was a lot of fun with surprises along the way. Everything from a petting farm, including baby pigs (so cute!), mining and ax throwing! Everyone was so nice! Will definitely be back for more adventures! read more

We went ziplining today. It was truly an amazing experience. They made us feel so comfortable and we really were relaxed through the whole 2 hours. Starting with meeting all their incredible animals to going through 9 zip lines- experience of a lifetime! They taught us to go upside down and do flips- just so much fun. We had Levi, Austin and Val. They were patient, friendly and so funny. We had 3 kids and they made it so fun and easy for the girls to get on and off. This ATV tour was one of the best we have been on. It is not just a ride in the woods. We climbed hills and zoomed down the other side...requires some upper body strength. Meh, boring excursion. Slow pace and got yelled repeatedly for "red lining." The machine had to be on first gear uphill! Guides were concern about the machines and not the fun aspect it could've been. Definitely not fun if you're looking for a bit of adventure. read more

ATV tour sucked. Owners spent 30 minutes contradicting themselves. Waivers made us sign away life and limb and said we understood how dangerous ATV/UTS's were and that we could die. Then owner/explainer of vehicle said "These are UTV's-you pretty much are never gonna flip them forward or backwards." We were told trail would be incredibly steep- walking up and down the stairs in my house is steeper than the trail. Had no idea this tour would force us to stay in a single file line going 5mph. Brake lights and constant stopping the entire tour. Traffic in ATL moves faster & is more exciting than this tour. Don't bother. read more

We LOVE this place. We stay usually once a year here - in fact we don't like to tell too many people about it so that we can get our cabin. I love that both my kids can zip line AND horseback ride - and two years ago we even brought home two baby bunnies from this place - they had a bunch they were trying to get rid of. Our visit was wonderful--the staff were amazing. Our young guide, Katherine, was jumping up and down from her saddle to clear away fallen branches and stones, she even had to approach and scare away a large ratsnake that was sunning itself across the path. Rarely have I seen someone so young working so hard, and with such a cheery disposition! The horses were docile, gentle, and responsive. The only thing that marred our woodland ride was when the proprietor Mike came roaring up on a motorized vehicle all of a sudden. He scared away the wildlife we were enjoying, and proceeded to scold our hardworking guide for a random small branch that had been hanging down from a trailside tree. Apparently he had been watching from his house high on the hill unbeknownst to all of us, and when he saw one of us lean away from the branch, he must have hurried down the hill to criticize her for the "infraction." It was not her fault, and all of my party were made to feel strange and uncomfortable because we imagined that if that's how he behaves in front of guests, I hate to think of how he may act when no one is watching. He should *never* discipline staff in front of guests--his behavior was embarrassing and ungentlemanly. Katherine acted like nothing had happened, and was very respectful to her boss--who did not even so much as acknowledge the guests at all during this unpleasant exchange in our presence. Other than that--it was a very good experience. Katherine did a marvelous job telling funny stories and local lore, describing the scenery. she recovered with perfect grace and saved the trip. She was extremely solicitous where my children's safety was concerned, and made me feel like we were family friends and not paying customers. As we were leaving, we saw a few very small signs saying that the guides work for tips--and I sincerely hope this isn't true, as this information was not on the website and as a result we had no cash to give our guide. I would think that given the hundreds of dollars we spent on our one hour trail ride that this hardworking young lady should certainly get more than spare change! She more than earned it. read more

This was our second time here and it was awesome! This is the best ziplining in north Georgia and because it's braking is hands free so even a 2 year old can do it! Also because it's hands free you can even go upside down, which takes ziplining to a whole other level!! The guides showed us how to do it and we went upside down on 3 zips! Even my 8 year old did it! What a blast! The guides were phenomenal and the wagon ride up to the top zoo goes through a little farm where we fed emus and goats! Plus it's a fun bumpy ride which is another adventure of itself and it's all included in the ziplining tour! My two favorite zips were the one where you go through a tunnel and the last one where you have two zips side by side so you can race someone with option to get wet too!! Amazing adventure! 5 stars all the way! Last time we were here we also did the horseback riding and ATV tours which were both incredibly fun but since we have a 7 month old baby now we couldn't do those. We were all able to zip while our baby went along for a ride in the side by side vehicle to each stop. My husband and I took turns being with the baby on each zip so essentially he and I did half courses but it was still amazing! read more

We did a 3 hour Lunch ride and we had a GREAT time! Our only real problem was that it was FAR too much for our 11 year old daughter. The terrain was far too rough (Going up and down the hills that were covered with mud- her horse slid twice and scared her to death) Although the rest of the family greatly enjoyed it, I would not recommend this ride for children. They also did not seem very prepared to deal with a younger rider. When we first lined up, I explained that our daughter was an inexperienced rider, but they still wanted to place her in the very back with no one behind her. We finally convinced them to place her between some of us in the line up. Her horse was pretty stubborn, and did not like to stick to the trail- which proved to be pretty terrifying for a child. At one point, the trail was fairly overgrown, and her horse took her straight into a tree with briars and branches sticking out- when she tried to pull him out to the left by the reigns, he tossed his head pretty hard and got her hands caught up in the reigns. (He continued to Toss his head about 20 more times before the ride was over) She was crying and very upset- my husband and other daughters tried to tell the guide we needed to stop for a minute and she kept saying "we need to move along". After seeing that the guide wasn't going to stop, I dismounted and went to check on her. The guide then decided to come check on her, but she wasn't very sensitive to a scared, upset child. After we made sure her hands were ok- we started back up again. The guide kept trying to force everyone to cantor again, even though our daughter was still crying and terrified, so we kept telling the guide No every time she'd turn and yell "are y'all ready?". At another point, her horse took off and took her pretty far from the trail at a very steep, windy part of the trail. Our daughter was screaming and crying trying to get it to come back to the trail, and the guide just sat on her horse (5 horses away) and watched while yelling to our daughter to "Let Him pick his trail" (Not really something you should say to a terrified child who got separated from the group). She finally came and helped, after both my Husband and I began to dismount. Also, I made note of a dietary restriction when our reservation was made, but nothing was prepared to honor that- so after riding for 3 hours, I was unable to eat the lunch that was prepared. My family did enjoy the wraps and brownies, but I was unable to eat. All this to be said, we will most likely come back with our older girls but we will not bring our younger daughter again. Also, prepare to bring your own lunch if you have dietary restrictions. read more

It was much more expensive than the other zip line options around but being pregnant and having my 89 year old grandmother with us the ride along tour was a nice addition. Great place to take a kid for their first horseback ride (or an adult for that matter)! I've taken my nieces on the family adventure ride on separate occasions to celebrate their birthdays (one was 6, one was 7). Getting to feed the animals, make a horseshoe decoration, go fishing etc.. in the middle of the ride are a lot of fun for the kids. Super friendly staff and they were very accommodating this time when I had originally scheduled the ride on a day that turned out to be really cold. No problem rescheduling for the following weekend. They have other rides as well if you want to go a little faster. But a leisurely walk was good for my first-time riders. read more

We've rented UTVs at other places in Tennessee (near Pigeon Forge), but this place definitely is the best one we've been. The trail gives you the full experience, especially for families with kids. The mini farm and goldmine stops were amazing! We even got to see deers in the mountains. What impressed us the most was the training provided prior to starting the ride. They even do a "mini test drive", which it's great for people driving the ATVs, it gives you the chance to change your mind (this happened to one lady in the group riding with us, she ended up riding with one of the guides in an UTV). They have two guides: one in an ATV and another in an UTV (that can be used by ATVs passengers should they need it). They also have zip lines and horses (they all look in amazing shape!). They even rent cabins there! We were absolutely impressed by their professionalism and the way they run their business, not to mention the easiness to book the activities online. We truly hope we can come back soon and enjoy all the activities they offer! read more

If you are looking for a place to take smaller (but still very adventurous) kids zip-lining, this is your spot! My 7-year-old couldn't stop talking about our last zip race through the water, and the 10-year-old was thrilled with the fact that our guides showed her how to zip upside-down at breakneck speeds. I, too, had a blast and will definitely go back for more. We also went horseback riding, which was well-guided and a great experience for kids who have never been on a horse before. It was fun but I feel like they should have split the large group up. The manager decided towards the end of the atv ride when we got to see the animals to take the atv away from my boyfriend because he said he was trying to race and ram into the person in front which was me off the trail with two other people behind him which was not the case. We was all tryin to stay together and explain to the manager but instead he though he could make an example and take the atvs away which was not fair. I feel like if we didn't understand the rules I would have never spend my money on this place. We understood the rules but I really didn't get to enjoy the whole ride due to the manager taking the atv away from my boyfriend which made me have to say " well you can take mine to just cause he came with me and I don't want to ride without him" I also let him know I was going to be getting my money back and the manger told me it was not fair but it wasn't fair for me to pay my money, drive hrs away and understand the rules and obeying them till the manger think my boyfriend was being wild with two other people we didn't know. I wanted to finish the rest of the atv ride but had to be taken to my car from the manger and left unhappy with my time there. I would have like to come back to do more of there activities but I don't know anymore just cause of people me and my boyfriend was not with and the manger thought he was with them trying to race. I did get my money back from my bank just cause I was not satisfied or happy at the end of our visit. read more

We used Sunburst Stables for an afternoon guided horseback trail ride about 10 years ago. Unless they have new ownership...this review is still valid because of the owner's lack of remorse. None of us had any horse riding experience which we were told was not a problem. What a nightmare! Not 5 minutes into it, the guide's lead horse reared causing a chain reaction of the rest. I was thrown hard immediately, my 8 year old daughter was thrown, my 14 year old daughter's horse took off into the woods and she was dodging limbs like a movie scene. She was then thrown. My 8 year old nephew's horse reared and then bolted, but luckily he managed to stay on. Needless to say, our ride was over. All three of us who were thrown needed medical attention and the nearest hospital was at least 20 minutes away. That's how we spent the rest of the day. Thankfully our health insurance policy paid most of the hospital cost, but Sunburst refused to pay any remaining out-of-pocket expenses. We had to spend an extra night in a hotel because I was unable to travel due to my injured back. They refused to pay that also. My 8 year old had numerous abrasions but fortunately no broken bones. My 14 year old had a cracked coccyx (tailbone). All of us were traumatized! The owners didn't even apologize and remained unremorseful. I would have been happy to receive an apology in lieu of any payment, but our out-of-pocket expenses would have shown good faith. I would NEVER EVER let my child or ANY ONE I care about use Sunburst. read more

Weekend stay at the cabin and a mountain ride with my wife. The cabin was DEPLORABLE! Smell of mildew hit us as we opened the door. Appliances, though clean inside, were filthy on the outside, we didn't want to touch them. Dust and cobwebs everywhere. Garbage from the last occupant was left on the front porch. Long nails protruding at least 2 inches from the rafters as you go up the stairs to the loft were directly at my eye level. I noticed them before I ran into them and bent them flat. Lots of mildew growing in between the old double pane windows, we just couldn't enjoy the view from inside. The floor of the non-ventilated bathroom is carpet... CARPET! You can't put carpet in the wettest room of the cabin, it will hold moisture and ruin the floor, and if anything splashes, spills, or overflows (use your imagination), you can never truly clean that up. There is no insulation in the ceiling, so every time an acorn fell from the trees onto the metal roof, it sounded like a hammer... all night long! And the cabin was very poorly constructed. The floors are horribly uneven. Large clear gaps with clear daylight where the timbers pass to the outside, and no attempt to close them, no doubt explaining the number of spiders and web found inside the cabin. And the cabin swayed when we walked in the loft. On the other hand, the property and the ride were very enjoyable. But the shortcomings of the cabin are inexcusable. We will never return. read more
