This was a fun experience, especially for my friend who was experiencing horse back riding for the first time! My only complaint was that the ride was only about 45 minutes, and we each paid $67 plus a tip for an hour ride. The guide was friendly and tried to make conversation throughout the ride. read more

We were in the area for birthdays and decided to give these stables a try for my daughter's first ever horse ride!.....even though she's a grown adult :) It was a nice, clear, cool day....perfect for a ride. There are a lot of options in the area and I left wondering if I should have picked another. Keep in mind they are all volunteers that work here so I won't complain too much. However, we got a late start to our private ride but I was in no rush and figured we would still get our whole time frame in. Our ride ended up being 40 minutes max and we didn't even realize our ride was ending until they asked us to get off the horse. All the staff was very nice and friendly. Overall, I just felt like for what we paid ($80) a person plus tip on top of that that the ride ended abruptly and wasn't the full time. It is a pretty area and maybe I came on an off day. I still encourage others to visit this business but I wanted to share my experience! read more

Experience was fantastic! My wife and I got there about 30 minutes early coming from McDonough. It was $50 per person as advertised. We patiently waited for the other families to arrive as this was our first horseback ride. And that became obvious when I struggled to get on top of the horse! Directions were pretty straightforward as others have mentioned. We began our ride which was more so peaceful than fun. We had some good views although I wish they were a bit more scenic. There was a lot of different types of terrain but there wasn't a river crossing which I'm sure is a sales factor for some customers. Our guide was very nice and waited for us in the back. Every now and then the horses would stop to urinate and defecate and that made it easy to fall behind. The horses were trained to follow behind each other which was great. I've read elsewhere that many people were scratched up due to the horses going through the trees. That's pretty much non preventable as the horses stayed on trail and couldn't care less what's sitting on its back and traveling at an additional height of 3 feet. All in all it took us about an hour to cover the land. As first timers we didn't feel insecure or like we were holding everyone back. It was all in fun. With the pandemic and everything going on, it was good to get away and enjoy the air from the saddle of a horse. read more

We had a great time. The little one loved it. The only issue i had was the fact we were in a line back to back the entire time. It was hard for us to enjoy the experience together as a family as we weren't able to talk to one another without twisting our backs while on the horses. This is a great opportunity for little inexperienced riders, but definitely does get a bit boring for experienced visitors. Riding through the river was unique. I enjoyed it. Mary was our guide for our horseback ride and she was absolutely wonderful. It was myself, my 6 year old daughter and my mother in addition to another mom and her 2 daughters. The area you ride through is absolutely beautiful, the horses are great and Mary was just sweet as can be. Highly recommend! read more

I am very disappointed with this experience. We came all the way from Peachtree City to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Her wish was to ride a horse through water, as we did once before. We called and asked specifically if the ride went through the water and we were told YES, the ride went through two bodies of water (apparently) We asked that question a a few times just to make sure. We confirmed and booked the 1-hour ride expecting a ride as described, but it didn't. All we saw were bushes, mud piles, and a less than a minute ride near the river that could be barely seen. Only scenic view of Blue Ridge Mountain for a few minutes. 1-hour ride was $60 x person, 3 people, and did not match what was promised or expectations. Wasted our $$$, our day, and our daughter's birthday wish, for her special day!! Could have picked somewhere else if only they were clear about what to expect about the ride. She was very disappointed and so were we!! Do you know you guys ruined her bday wish? The guide was nice, polite, and friendly, but that was it. I would not spend my time and $ here ever again. If you are looking to do a 1 hour lap around a few pastures while just walking on horses that are NOT in good health or well maintained, forced to walk through deep mud that then splashes up onto you.... I see a lot of first time riders posting how great their experience was and I felt it important to leave an experienced rider report. I was so sad ridding these broken, sad and tired horses that even the nature around us wasn't even enjoyable :( their hoofs were so cracked and deformed from lack of care, saddles that were incorrectly positioned and honestly it felt like I was contributing to these poor horses to continue this sad life... there were garbage bags piled in the middle of their small coral that they were eating out of them I was so confused :( and they were soooooooo dirty. I generally will not ride at this kind of venue because this unfortunately is the norm but my husband really wanted to go sooooooo... here we are! Please take better care of the animals that are paying for your lifestyle literally from their backs. read more

It was my first time being on a horse. I really enjoyed it. Everyone was so nice and helpful. They could tell I was nervous, they made me feel at easy and not feel like a first timer. At 72 years old I wasn't looking forward to my First horse ride, but that was my promise to my granddaughter who had just turned 10. So with two very careful guides, we took off for an hours ride. My granddaughter had a very gentle horse named Abby, but my horse Cody was quite unhappy with me. He took me under tree branches and then laughed at me when I fussed at him. It was a wonderful time and I will remember it forever. My granddaughter was quite smitten with the horses. Who knows. She will probably be a volunteer guide Terr one day herself. read more

Maybe we visited on an off day. When we pulled up there were 2 very nice cars/suv's parked outside the office, and the horses were already saddled and ready for us. Office staff didn't seem to enthused, but quickly took $80 (Cash Only) for 2 ppl for a "1 hour ride". The quick introduction consisted of: "Left to go left, right to go right, and back to stop"...short and to the point with no questions or conversation. Horses seemed well-trained with no issues. The trail and ride itself was nice with some really excellent views and a nice ride by the river. The guide, however, didn't speak one word to us the entire time. He rode ahead of the pack (as expected) but offered zero of the "guide" services mentioned in the other reviews. It was almost awkwardly silent as we moseyed along the river - we felt that he had no desire to be out with a group at that time. We also did not get to cross the river as advertised. We paid full price for an hour ride...we started on time (2:00pm) but were back up to the shed by 2:35 and in our cars by 2:40. Looking back we shouldn't have tipped him the $20 that we did - he provided no service other than riding 20 yards ahead of us for 35 minutes. Hopefully this was a one-off experience. I brought my son here for his first ride today. He's 8 and was a little nervous. Mary our guide was awesome! She eased all his fears and helped get him comfortable with the horses. She took her time and was so friendly making our trip super special! She even made sure we got pictures. We plan to go back for sure. I highly recommend!!! read more

I was introduced to this place via a Living Social deal. $35 for two people, one hour of horseback riding. We ended up arriving about 5-10 minutes late, and luckily I had called beforehand to let them know. We were able to leave with the 12 pm group (we were scheduled at 11 am). They pretty much leave on the hour, every hour; 5 minutes after at the latest, so be on time. We were with a larger group of 10. Amazingly, the horses all kept in single file. They were very well-trained. I, of course, was paired with the energetic free spirit of the group, named Cody. Every time a man said the word "trot," even in casual conversation, off he went. For whatever reason, he didn't respond to my voice as much as a man's. We enjoyed a leisurely ride around the property. I think it was about 3 miles or so. With some occasional trotting, of course. I think I would have enjoyed the trotting more if I had butt pads, and if my feet didn't keep coming out of the stirrups. One of the guides had raised them for me (I have midget legs) but after the first round of trotting, I think they came loose and were far too long, so for every trot, I was absolutely terrified, trying my best not to fall off the horse. Overall, a very scenic and relaxing ride. The guides did a great job. They are actually volunteers, so tips are very much appreciated. After we dismounted our steeds (lol) we visited the Shetland ponies. The two brown ones are in an enclosed area. Apparently they are meaner. They will also only come to you in search of food. After they realize you've got nothing, they saunter off. The white Shetland pony gets to roam free, and he/she just happily munches on grass the whole time. There is a part of the ride where in the summer, the guides will lead the horses into the water. We definitely want to come back for that! read more

We went on a 1 hour trail ride with Mary as our guide. Horses were well kept and well trained. Mary made our ride super fun and I'd definitely recommend asking for her. She was very entertaining and, at 18 years old, very capable with all of the horses. read more

Great staff! Sweet people taking *great* care of their horses. On the trail, we were given history of the land and surrounding area. I highly recommend Chattahoochee Stables! My daughter & I plan on going back again very soon. You should make reservations with them so that they are better able to plan their day. And wear shoes that you don't mind getting wet as part of the ride is through the river. It was a lot of fun!! read more

This place is absolutely wonderful! My daughter received lessons from Lauren over the course of several weeks so we had extensive experience with the stables. The trail is lovely and the horses are all well trained and gentle. Lauren is an incredible teacher that taught my daughter not only how to ride, but also instilled a great sense of confidence and a love of horses.
