These are stables about 2 hours away from Atlanta. Super fun for a family, girls, solo trip. You can call them and make a reservation for 1-2 hour horseback rides, with some portions in the river. I chose to do a 1 hour ride with the river. The stables themselves are light and airy, with multiple horses. About 8 people to a group if you choose to go without a private package. They teach you a little basics about steering and then you're on your way. If you do the river ride make sure you wear shoes you don't mind getting wet. My horse went a bit to the right in the river where it was deeper and my feet got soaked. All good though. Guides are great and they love chatting. They will help take photos if you'd like as well. I had never been horseback riding, so my best friend found Dillard House Stables to change that fact! We visited for an hour long River horse ride at 1pm on a Saturday. The reservation, waiver forms, and all the staff was quick and pleasant! Our horse guides were knowledgeable and personable. The horses were friendly and sturdy. We explored beautiful landscapes and truly a memorable experience. I can't wait to go back and bring family and friends to this little hidden gem in the mountains. We highly recommend the 1 1/2 hour River Ride with Dillard House Stables. The horses ride through the shallow river and it's a beautiful experience. Be prepared to get your feet wet. The surrounding area is beautiful and our guide Lexie took pictures of us and texted them to us right after our ride. There was also a professional photographer that took pics for purchase. I HIGHLY recommend the horseback riding with the river component if you visit Dillard House Stables. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. If you're ever in Georgia, visit here! There's so much to take advantage of here: horseback riding, petting zoo, the restaurant, the vineyard, the lodge, and the conference center. It's a gorgeous view of the mountains and a great place to spend time with family and friends. I went horseback riding here with my friends and we had a great time. It was just the four of us on our hour and a half tour through the river. I recommend wearing shorts and water shoes for this! Call ahead if the weather isn't great because they will cancel the tour, even if you're already there! We had a great time walking in line through the river, over small hills, and through a few challenging pathways with our horses. My horse's name was Coop. My fiancé was given the absolutely slowest horse they have who refused to walk in like with us. If you go here do NOT get on that horse, it almost ruined the whole trip. I was a little annoyed that our guide though this was ok and only until the horse couldn't be moved called in a young boy named Cole who got Slow Joe (horse) moving. This is great for kids and adults. I would certainly come here again. I would love to do a wine tasting or stay in their lodges. Take advantage of the pictures here. My family had such a good time here at DH Stables. We made a reservation the day before and arrived early in the morning the next day. They take cash at the stable, but if you're paying by card, you'll need to do that at the restaurant, and the stable will give you a receipt to take up to them. Kayla was our trail guide, and she was amazing. My daughter got a little scared going down the hill on her pony, and Kayla walked her through it and encouraged her to complete the trail ride. She took us through the fields, woods, and along the creek (but not in the creek because it was wicked cold out), and then back up to the stable. There was a photographer waiting who took family and individual pictures, which was nice because it's hard to take those kinds of pictures when you're riding a horse at the back of the line. I would recommend the DH Stables for trail rides to anyone in the area. Very professional and friendly. The horses were great and easy to ride. read more

This was a great experience. I took my two kids- one with anxiety and one that had never ridden and I felt certain at some point that he wouldn't go because he was scared. They had 3 guides that knew the horses well and made sure that stayed close to us to keep the kids happy. There were lots of positive praise from the staff and when my oldest lost a bit of control of his horse in the water, the guide was right there to keep him and the horse calm and back in line. Excellent! Took our granddaughter on the river trail. Just as we were getting ready to leave she began to panic. Megan and Lexi were our guides. Megan put us in the back and talked our granddaughter through her initial fears. I saw her whole body begin to relax and it was all due to Megan taking the time to show her the wonderful world of horseback riding. She loved it so much we surprised her with another trail ride the next day. The horses are in great condition and they are free to roam on their days off over 100 acres of land. Everyone was personable and knowledgeable. We can't wait to go again next year. 10 out of 10 for sure!!! read more

I have loved the Dillard house for years and all of the food is excellent. You are seated much faster if you are staying in one of the many Dillard house lodging options. Suppers are fairly costly ($25 per adult or so) and are served family style with large dishes of everything brought out and you ask for more of whatever dish you want. The fried chicken is served w every meal (and is the best fried chicken ever!) and the other meats are rotated. Generally there are 3 meats, but last night (Sunday night) there were only 2 meats- the fried chicken and salsbury steak). The chicken was fabulous as usual and the salsbury steak (country fried steak in brown gravy?) was ok, but not a choice for me). All the side dishes were awesome as usual, but it was expensive for a nice fried chicken dinner. Breakfasts are fairly expensive as well and even though it was good (fresh squeezed OJ), it was too expensive. We'll be back, but probably not during the week and probably not for breakfast. I think that maybe Dillard house needs to offer less expensive options for breakfast and lunch possibly and keep the fabulous suppers. read more

These people run an upright operation and you can ride safety with confidence that you are supporting a worthwhile establishment. The trail is beautiful, like you only see in movies!! During the week of Thanksgiving I spent the week in one of Dillard's cottages, if you want to spend your Holidays in the comforts of home and southern hospitality you have to give Dillard's a chance. For Thanksgiving the served over 3,500 hundred people and the service was smooth as silk. For children they have a petting zoo, and horse back riding. Every meal is out of this world, worth every penny. You have to experience the atmosphere in order to appreciated, know this it will be like no other vacation / get away and one that you will always remember .......! A great hour and a half river ride! Everyone was very welcoming and the horses looked healthy and well taken care of. Our guide, Lexi, was super friendly! The only thing I would suggest they think about doing is providing a way to use a credit card at the stable. Since we were paying using a card, we had to walk up to the restaurant and pay in there. It was a few buildings away, no big deal, but I could see how some people might see that as a complaint. read more
