My wife and I have done rafting two times with other rafting companies, both half day and we did the full day 9:15am Section IV whitewater rafting this time. A day of rafting is more fun and is more involved. Class IV is more challenging. I used sun lotion before the raft but still got a little sunburn after rafting. During the rafting, sometimes we were told to stand on the side of the river to wait for guides to do their chore and I had to deal with flying bugs that were stinging you. We had to walk carefully on slippery boulder rocks to move from place to place and it was dangerous. Bathroom is not available on the full day rafting trip and you would need to do your business in the woods (if you really need to). Our guide Jandy did a good job navigating the river and performed tasks to make our rafting smooth. In one area of the river that was very strong and dangerous, they had us back in it and I asked the guide why we had to go back in it and they said "for fun". Yeah right. After the raft, I saw a group carrying raft to the bus. We are deaf and we communicate in sign language and they did not provide reasonable accommodations (sign language interpreter) that were important for our safety. Communicating with the guide was very difficult. He didn't seem very accommodating to communicate with us. The owner of the company was not very friendly. He did not respect us customers and our needs. Anyway, the scenery of the rafting was beautiful with lots of trees and mountains. But I'm not so sure I'll try this raft again. The cost is also unreasonably high, but there are other rafting companies to try elsewhere that have lower pricing. read more

What a find! From booking the adventure to seeing the pictures of our rafting trip everything was perfect. We took level IV trip. The longer and wilder portion of the river. Felt 100% safe (even when I was dumped overboard). Safety is their priority without skimping on fun and adrenaline rushes. Jon was our guide and he was great. Amanda did a phenomenal job taking pictures of the entire trip. No pressure to buy them, but we did! The directions to the store and parking is perfect. Just went on my 4th trip with SEE and have thoroughly enjoyed them all (2 camping & 2 just rafting). This is top of our must do summer list. The river is beyond explanation, it's just amazing. SEE does a wonderful job with safety and all the guides we've had were great!! We're hoping to do the camping trip again next year. I prefer that trip over any theme park I've been to. We booked the two day rafting experience in the Chattooga River with Southeastern Expeditions. We were there during the third week in September and although we had a pretty sunny day on our second day, the water was kinda cold and it got pretty chilly especially at night. The first day we had a rather slow rafting adventure, mostly with class IIs and some IIIs. We camped overnight at a campsite, not riverside as originally planned, which was nice since we got to take warm showers after a whole day of rafting. At the campsite we had dinner on the first night and breakfast the next morning. The food prepared was nothing to rave about but it took care of the hunger. The staff set up the tents for us, just make sure you bring your own sleeping bags, a towel, some toiletries and a change of clothes. We had a bonfire and made some s'mores while we all hung out after dinner. Get ready to be woken up at the crack of dawn by a boisterous "wake-up call" and the national anthem being played really loud over the speakers. Our second rafting day was way more exciting, we had more class IVs and even class V like rapids. The guides on both days were great, really helpful and knowledgeable. Safety of all participants was a priority for the staff and they made sure we had a great, fun time without ever taking any unnecessary risks. Both days we stopped for lunch half way during the rafting trip where we had a spread of sandwich breads, deli meats, veggies, fruit, etc for a build-your-own-sandwich kinda lunch. I agree with another reviewer who wrote that now during COVID times doing a "buffet" like spread is probably not the best idea, I guess they could have offered pre-made, pre-packed sandwiches instead. read more

What a great whitewater rafting trip in the footsteps of Burt Reynolds and "Deliverance". Made all the better by the amazing guides and professionalism of the Southeastern Expeditions company. Our party of 3 plus the guide in one raft made this a very personal trip even though our group consisted of 6 rafts. Our guide was very personable, engaging, knowledgeable and most of all fun. Unlike trips we had done on the west coast the river really helped our progression downstream with very little actual paddling required between rapids. Our lunch stop and swim provided an ideal opportunity to mingle with the other rafters in our group and listen to the guides exploits during high water levels. We have an amazing time and will definitely be back to tackle the river during a higher and more adventurous water level. Perfect rafting trip for the whole family and highly recommended. read more

First of all in behalf of our crew we would like to say thanks to whole crew of Southeastern Expidition for giving us one of the best adventure that our group did during our stay in NC. As soon as we arrive we greeted by Jeff. He gave our wetsuit and he makes sure that we are comfortable with it. Then soon after we met Chris who gave and told us all the proper procedure that we need to take so we'll be safe and also having fun. When we arrive to the place we gonna do the activity they told us to split into our team and choose our guide so we choose Austin. From there we walk a lil bit to go to the water. And from there the action begins. They'll tell you everything and more stuff. The sorrounding scenery is so magnificent, the rapids are so fun to do even though me and my friend fall off the water! But look I'm still alive doing this review coz I follow what they say . They'll show you some waterfalls but one of the best is when Austin told us about the creek where the infamous love scene from the movie Deliverance was shot. Then they also bring some lunch but you can bring your own as well like we do and after what they call 5 falls we ate lunch. We brought our homemade beef and pork jerky and we share it with them. After eating and quick relaxation we did a little more paddling to reach the lake where there's motorboat that takes us back to the end. But that tow was one of the best as well coz we are able to relax and enjoy the scenery. Overall this is more than a 5 star experience. 100/100 for sure! Book your trip or visit them when you visit NC to experience one of the best rapids tour I ever did. Sorry in advance to the crew coz I'm not good at remembering names but big shoutout to Chris and his crew ( Austin, Jandry, Christian and others that I don't remember their names) for showing and giving us one of our best adventure during our stay in NC! Had a great day on the river August 30, 2021. The operation is has all the basics for changing and getting equipment. Chris our guide was very skilled, as in we did not fall out of raft. The river has plenty or rapids to maneuver which take very experienced operators. We had lunch on the shore and had plenty of time to swim if you wanted. I hope to plan a trip again in the near future. Recommended! Also there was a photographer who took some great action photos on the biggest rapids.! read more

Geoff was our trip leader and guide, we did Chattooga section 4 on 5/13/17. I can't say enough about how awesome of an experience it was. The river was at 1.6 meters. We only had to portage one rapid. The river was fun and challenging but not too scary or difficult for us. We were not experienced at all but the guide was awesome at putting us in good position to get through the rapids. We had a shore lunch of cold cuts, ppj, nothing fancy but about what you would expect. All of the staff are super accommodating and you can tell they love what they do, and want their guests to have the best experience possible. This type of trip might not be for everyone but if you are looking for an awesome adventure in untouched nature in this region, you cannot go wrong with SEE. They have a kayaker taking photos so you don't have to worry about bringing a camera! read more

Great trip, terrific staff. Highly recommended. Some constructive criticism.... 1) Too much stopping/starting, getting in/out of the boat. It REALLY diminished the experience and flow of the trip. We stopped to "pull over" after just about every set of rapids + lunch, waterfall, walk overs, and rock jumping. Why are we sitting around while our guide is throwing rope for another boat? Have guys there dedicated to only that. What should have been thrilling became tedious. 2) Lunch. Guys, even if covid wasnt a thing, a sandwich buffet on rocks is kinda gross and really awkward, both socially and physically. Make sack lunches and pass em out. Keep it simple. 3) Bus situation. You got 5 hours to get a bus to pickup location 20 minutes away. Waiting on a bus after a tiring day w no where to sit? Come on. These are some small improvements that would make this a 5 star review. Overall we had a great day, and staff were great. read more

Been here three times already traveling from southeast Florida and its AWESOME! We keep going back taking our nieces and nephews and everyone always enjoys it and wants to return. I wish I could remember the name of all the guides we had (to give them the credit they deserve) but unfortunately i dont,..because they were all awesome making the trips so much fun, entertaining, and keeping us laughing!!! The manager was very sweet and helpful also on the phone planning our trip up and while we were there. Im nit even the type of person who likes roller coasters or thrills and I LOVED it. Rafted section IV on 8/26/17. Loved the fact that we could choose our own guide, and i chose Jon. . . . great choice, if I do say so myself!! He kept us entertained, was very knowledgeable of the river, totally considerate and helpful of some minor challenges within our group. Love this guy. This team of guides work well together to keep all rafters safe, not just the ones in their own raft. One review on here mentioned not being happy because they had to wait while the guides helped manage the safety ropes, but this is part of their team effort to keep everyone safe on the river. I was very impressed with the organization of their safety awareness. During the times we were waiting, we were able to get out of the raft and swim some, or watch other rafts maneuver the rapids. This review also mentioned having to paddle the last couple miles because of no tow-boat. . . . that would be a major downer on any trip. So glad we had one!! The river was a bit low because the later in the year you go, it's a drier season for nature controlled rivers. The rapids and falls were still big enough to enjoy. Most of our group was thrown from the raft early, altho there is debate between us whether it was the rapid or Jon that did this. There was another raft that totally flipped and lost everyone. So even later in the year it can be a great run down the Chatooga. Other things worthy of mentioning for your first visit: we stopped several times for out-of-raft activities like jumping off rock ledges, photo ops at waterfalls, and one very unique diving experience through a rock. Gotta experience this to understand it. Lunch is more 'communal' or buffet by definition. I personally do not think loaf bread when I hear the word deli, but they had several choices of premium breads and a good spread of meat and cheese selections. Help yourself to making your own. . . but please use the provided hand sanitizer, and they remembered that ladies go first Altho they make it very clear there are no 'princess' rides, everone has to work (paddle). First time for me going whitewater rafting and this location was such a great first experience. For my friends who have been, they also truly enjoyed the experience. The guide, Jon, was a perfect fit. He had a relaxed personality and was very specific and precise with his cues. We did not flip or fall out (!!) which apparently is rare considering the category waterfalls we encountered. They also mentioned the water was lower than the previous two years, which made the course a little more difficult. Definitely giving most of the credit to Jon and the rest to Mother Nature! The photographer, Chloe(?), she captured gems just like the one attached to this review. She was fantastic and her prices for the package are reasonable. Definitely worth the drive from North Florida (7 hours). The area has many restaurants and there's even an airbnb nearby - so check out this place in the middle of nowhere! read more
