Our friend Toby, who is part-owner of Noni's on edgewood ave took us up here one rainy monday a couple of weeks ago. Southeastern Expeditions is a river rafting "tour" group i guess you could call it. After about a 15 minute demonstration on how not to die in the river, the guides take you down to the start of the Chatuuga River and off you go! our trip i think was about 6 miles, and every mile was a blast. the guides are really good at teaching you how to navigate through rapids, and they are really entertaining the whole trip. our guide, Big Jon was a blast, as he told us jokes and stories about the river, and made sure to get us blasted with rapids! at the end of the trip they even supplied tall boys. i highly suggest checking this place out if you are in need for an outdoor adventure! read more

Excellent experience! White water rafting has been on my bucket list for decades. At 58 I'm so happy to finally put a check in that box, even happier to get to share it with my daughter. My friends and I went on this rafting trip during our vacay to my friend's lake house, and it was SO MUCH FUN!!! I 100% recommend this company to anyone looking for an exciting adventure and highly qualified guides!!! Also, if you do go, definitely request LINC as your guide!! He had us cracking up the entire way down the river, and we could definitely tell he had 20 years of expertise rafting since he made sure we hit every rapid just right (even when we were paddling like idiots)!! I love white water rafting! Although I will have some more Zumba and cross fit classes under my belt next time! What a workout. The trip was awesome. We did the Section 3 on a very rainy Friday. Took about 6 hours. Darren was an awesome guide! She kept all of us in the raft by teaching and coaching us thru the river. It was a beautiful, serene setting... Even though it was raining all day. I recommend going with at least 4 people so you don't get paired with inexperienced, out of shape rafters like my mom and I did. But, Darren did a good job of dealing with her novice raft. This was my 4th river to do and I have to say my favorite! Will definitely be back to do the overnight section III and IV trip. read more

We did the kayak clinic as a family twice, because we had so much fun we came back two days later. Carson was such a great instructor. He was very knowledgeable about kayaking and taught in a way that we had fun while learning about kayaking. 10/10 would recommend! read more

These guys went way beyond my expectations. I did section IV, with class 4 and 5 rapids as part of a bachelor party. I had never been whitewater rafting before but the professionalism of the guides made me feel safe. Even though they were serious about safety, they were also very laid back, personable and liked to joke around, which made everyone feel comfortable. My guide was Rob and he was completely competent at the actual guiding part, but also very knowledgeable about the area and offered a lot of various trivia about the river during the slower parts of the trip. Everyone from the check-in lady, to the guides, to the photographer were incredibly accommodating, nice, and fun. I'll definitely be back. read more

We went down Section IV in late June 2016. Water levels were a little low at about 1.1, but had a fantastic trip. We've done many other trips on other rivers including Ocoee upper and middle with one of the other companies that also does this section, but they were already fully booked for the day. Decided to give Southeastern Expeditions a try and I must say our whole family was impressed. From the professionalism, personality of the guides (our guide was Hannah), and the focus of having fun while also doing it in a safe manner. On top of that, at the end of the trip they use a little motorized johnboat to tow the rafts across the lake to the takeout. Well one of the other companies tow boats had a breakdown and they even towed their rival company, how's that for a class act? Bottom line, they are highly recommended and we will be using them again. read more

If you are in the mountains then booking a trip down the Chattooga River MUST be added to your to do list! My friends and I came into town for a little getaway and we booked our rafting trip and had Jonathan as our awesome guide. He knew that a couple people in our group had never been rafting and were scared. So he took the time to explain about the rapids, the area and ensured our safety and comfortability were top priority. We had so much fun and he turned the 2 that were scared into 2 people that can't wait to go again! So if you're going to go rafting then this is the place to go. The people at Southeastern Expeditions seemed to truly care for their guests which shows in their work. I can't wait until the next visit from SF so I can go back! Ohmygosh-- these guys/gals are AMAZING! We are a group of 4 middle-agers who had never rafted before. Link was the team leader-- he was a great instructor/leader and inspired confidence right from the start. We did an 8:30 a.m. trip on the 4th of July with Chip as our guide (with a great young lady who arrived solo for this adventure!). Chip not only expertly guided us through the Class III and IV rapids, but he kept us very entertained with tidbits of history of the area and facts about specifics of rafting and the designated "wild and scenic waterway" that is the Chattooga. We stopped for a rest mid-way at a sandy beach area for a fantastic lunch of fresh fruit and delicious sandwiches. Another highlight was the opportunity to "swim" down a natural rock slide (in our helmets and PFDs --Personal Floatation Devices) in the middle of the river. Southeastern Expeditions also provided a professional photographer who took A LOT of photos of us before, during, and after our trip down a steep falls. What a fantastic memory and keepsake! Of the 6 rafts in the convoy, 4 had children/young teens, and we ALL had a fantastic adventure together! Because we were coming from out of state (Virginia and Alabama), we booked this "blind," so we were delighted to find out upon arrival that there were full restrooms with showers and changing areas so we wouldn't have to leave wet. I wish we had taken our kids here when they were younger, but we hope to plan a family reunion within the next year with all of them here!! It will be well worth the journeys from Virginia, Indiana, and NYC!! read more

I've rafted 4 different rivers with 4 different companies and this was the best river. The guides were all great at this company.... they weren't annoying like many of the guides I've encountered w/ other companies. That being said, this is the only company that makes the rafters help carry the heavy rafts down to the river and back up. There are also several times when we just have to sit and wait while the guides leave to carry safety ropes, etc. The worst part was at the end of the day though when we were forced to paddle on the lake for 2 miles because the motorboat didn't show up to tow us back to the landing. According to our guide, this happens often and is, to me, unacceptable. We were paddling against the wind and it was ridiculous to see the other rafting company towing their rafters after we had to paddle. And we paid the same as the other company! That alone is the reason I won't be using this company again. For reference sake, we did the 9:15am Section IV portion on Friday 6/7/13 when the river level on the gauge was at a 2. read more

Just got back from a weekend rafting with Southeastern Expeditions. Such a great time! While my husband and friends had been on this trip before, it was my first time. Hannah and Stefan (our guides on the first day) and Jeff and Asia (our guides on the second) were absolutely amazing! They were friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. They told us a lot about the river and the area, had great stories about the making of 'Deliverance' there, told us about improvements the new owners had made and possible future plans (which all sound pretty cool) and just really made me feel comfortable and entertained. But it wasn't just the guides that made this trip - it was *all* of the staff. Mary (our leader the second day), Emma (who joined us on our first day and showed us what *not* to do!), the girls in the shop... We had several photographers in our group and Jasmine and Chloe - who were photographing our trip - took time to chat with us about their jobs. And we ran into several staffers who were spending their day off just enjoying time on the river. You can really tell that they all love their jobs and the Chattooga. As we were watching the photo show on our second day, Chloe - who knew it was my first time and had photographed *both* my wipeouts that day - asked me if the experience had soured me on rafting. Our summer getaway included getting outside of my comfort zone and taking the kids on a whitewater rafting trip. I was surprised how nervous I was but this outfit has you covered. First, very thorough safety training before you get in the bus, much less the water. My son, daughter, and I were in a raft with Grant. He is outstanding! My family just returned to our resort after pretty much a full day of white water rafting. The entire staff is friendly and extremely welcoming and most most importantly they work as as a team. We stopped and had a nice little lunch and had time to soak in the beauty. Rob was our raft leader and he was extremely knowledgeable about rafting but also the natural environment we were surrounded by which he incorporated into our rafting experience. Unfortunately, we took a spill but the team made sure we were all safe and got us back on track after a rest. Tommy took excellent pictures of our experience and we bought the entire package. I wish I could remember the entire staff by name because each and every one brought something special to the experience. Even though we took a spill today, we will do it again but only with this group. You won't be disappointed if you take a tour with this wonderful company!!! read more
