I suggest going in the morning when it first opens up, as it can get busy as the day progresses and the lines get long. They have a waiver to fill out prior to you riding, which you can scan a QR code and do so while you're in line. It didn't work for me, so I filled it out at the kiosk during checkout. If you have long hair, they request that you pick up your hair with a hair tie. If you don't have one, they provide one right before you ride. Also, no bags on the ride. They have lockers for rental, but they do allow fanny packs/belt bags. Super fun experience if you've never tried something like this. Just don't expect Disney or Universal type vibes! So much fun! I was a little scared to do this but so glad I did! I went twice and they give you a discount if you go two times. You sit on the coaster 1 or 2 people in a cart max 375 lbs weight limit. The ride begins and takes you up the mountain through the forest which is really beautiful and peaceful. When you get to the top, you release the breaks and the coaster goes down around 27 mph. Now if you get scared or its too fast, you can always break and slow down but the fun part is going down fast. The second time around I got stuck behind a mother and small child going slow. It was not so fun then so try to get distance between coasters. Was visiting Helen for the day with some friends for Oktober fest, and needed a break from window shopping - along came Georgia Mountain Coaster! This was such a fun ride and honestly was the highlight of my visit to Helen. Tickets were reasonable - $17 per rider. The coaster seats either 1 or 2 people (so you can double up if you'd like or have kids). Make sure to bring a hair tie - they will make you put your hair up if it's long! Wait time was a bit long, maybe 45 mins to an hour, but that is expected for a busy Oktoberfest day. Must-do in North GA! read more

We loved it! :) My husband & I became little kids again during the ride. This is certainly one of the touristy things to do while visiting Helen, GA. After waiting in the queue for almost an hour, we were dying to get started :) Although I'm a fan of the traditional roller coasters, this one felt new to ride in a forest scenery. The coaster speed can be manually controlled that appeal to both who are either new to rides or have a fear of roller coasters. But sadly in my case, I was stuck behind someone who was going super slow, so my manual control stopped working to keep a safe distance from her throughout the ride. So, we did have fun but for only 2 minutes or so (sigh) We were tempted to go back once more (they offered buy 1 get 50% for the 2nd ride) but looking at the crowd, we decided not to. read more

I have had this alpine coaster on my to-do lost since we moved to Georgia. I finally got to try it earlier this week and it did not disappoint. At $17 per adult, it is a bit on the pricey side for what essentially amounts to a 3-5 minute ride, but it was worth doing for sure. They do give half off a second ride, which is nice, but I think it would be more fair to get 2 rides for the original price and maybe half off any additional rides just because of how short it is. The speed is just right and the spacing between carts is good. I never felt like I had to press the brakes while riding but wish I didn't have to keep holding the handle down for full speed either. A little bumpy on some parts, but that is to be expected on a coaster. Good views of parts of Helen while climbing up. If we are back in the area, I would do it again and maybe spring for a second run that time. read more

The Georgia Mountain Coaster was definitely fun and pricing was decent, but the ride is not long. We did a similar coaster in Jamaica that was at least triple the length, this was a bit disappointing from that standpoint. We waited in line for 1.5 hours for a 3 minute ride. I would highly suggest buying the 2nd ride for half off; the really nice part is that they don't make you get off the ride, you just stay on and do it again so no waiting in line again. I saw this coaster highlighted on social media so many times and each time I wanted to go more and more so I'm soooo happy I finally got to go! Be prepared to wait forever. The line gets pretty long and you'll likely be waiting in the sun for some time before you get to the shaded areas. There's a shop with water & drinks to keep you cool and snacks to munch on as you wait. The snacks in the store were a life saver as I visited with two toddlers. My husband and I both went with our two older girls and I was relieved that they let us wait at the front of the line while the other went and came back to stay with the babies. The line was long and hot but it went by pretty quickly. To me, it was absolutely worth it. For a family of 4 we spent about $64 which felt a bit steep but I was just really happy to be able to go one the the coaster I felt it was a good spend for experience. The ride up the mountain was nice and relaxing. I loved the scenery around me and the feeling of anticipation as we got closer to the top. Once we got to the top and released our breaks I legit felt like I was flying thru the trees. Only thing I would change is the people in front of us were going a bit too slow for our liking I would've wanted to go down even faster!! I was not about to wait in that line again so I didn't consider buying a second ticket but if you do decide to it's half off which would be fun to do on a next trip with more time. I love this roller coaster! You move the handles forward to go fast once you're at the top. You're pulled up there first on the track. Once you are in charge it's extremely fun. I found myself pulling back to slow down around sharp corners. If you go too fast you might catch your neighbor up front, & there is zero bumping allowed, much too dangerous. There are little kids riding with parents sharing one. I tried it also at night, & it was even more fun in the dark, cold night. Thanksgiving weekend and proper shoes were needed to stay warm, & a coat. Keep long hair inside your hood, no free ponytails are allowed, must be contained. Second ride is half off. I purchased them together & returned with the receipt a few hours later before 9pm when the line was a bit shorter at night. Popular fun place. Beautiful scenery also. This business is located directly on N. Main Street near the center of town except it is about 50 feet above the street. Georgia Mountain Coaster is on a hill that you can walk up a series of steps to get to or drive up to their parking lot. Up there is a ticket center/gift shop that also sells drinks and some snacks. Adult tickets are $17 for one ride and then 1/2 off for subsequent rides. You get into your cart and put on the 3 point seat belt (just like the front seats of your car) and then begin a slow climb to the top of the .6 mile track. That takes 3 minutes and then it's downhill for another 2 minutes to the finish. You regulate your own speed with a hand brake and I didn't use mine and went quite fast through the sharp turns. The descent is very safe no matter how fast you go. Even so, I decided not to repeat as I didn't think it would be worth it. I would have been more excited if this ride was less $. Maybe $10-$12 is more fair. It is for only that reason I give a 3 score. It is OK and most people will find it exciting. Riding the coaster is something to do while in Helen. read more

You will be online for 15 minutes or so for a min or so ride. It is really fun. At first, I was skeptical because I couldn't see where or what the coaster looks like except for the model of the cart. But I was happy I went on. It was $17 per person. You get to pedal on the coaster as it takes you around the forest. You control the acceleration and breaks by using the handle attached to the cart. It is fairly easy. They also have automatic chains to move you up the ramp like a roller coaster. So you are technically controlled by their machine as well. I had a blast. This was such a great addition to Helen!!!! The staff is professional and friendly. While in the Queue the staff made sure everyone was aware of the rules and procedures while riding. It had recently rained so we had to keep a specific distance and the staff made sure we knew what that was and dispatched each vehicle accordingly. As for the coaster itself you have full control of how fast this can go and let me tell you these vehicle haul butt down the mountain and by the time you get to the bottom you'll be saying What the Helen!? Honestly if your in the area and can't do the river tubing you need to try this experience out. The Georgia Mountain Coaster is the cutest little ride that you'll find out in the mountainsides of Georgia. It's located in the quaint town of Helen, Georgia that greets tourists year round. This also happens to be one of the most popular attractions for people that like a little adrenaline rush. The Georgia Mountain Coaster has two entrances. Both are off of the main highway that brings you in and out of the city of Helen. If you park in the lot next to the attraction, you'll be able to walk right on. If you park within the town of Helen, you will be stuck walking up some unforgiving stairs. Before you ride, take note of the fact that you'll need to place all loose items in the lockers. You cannot have anything in your hands. Each ride on the coaster is $9. So if you want to ride again, you'll pay $9 each time. The coaster itself seats one adult or one adult and a small child. A lap belt straps you down and you better make sure that it's nice and tight because you'll be cruising in no time. Push forward on the handle bars to stop. Pull back if you want to ride like the wind! The lift takes a while. I mean, it took a WHILE! But you get a nice view of the hillside and you'll see others zooming by. As you reach the top, pull back and GO! You can push the handle forward to slow down if you'd like but seriously, you won't fly off so let physics take over and just GO! The turns are tight and you bounce a little when you pick up speed. I loved every minute of it. Don't forget to smile for the camera because you'll want a souvenir photo before you leave. Overall, I really loved this little coaster. It was a fun way to beat the heat as a majority of the track is under shady trees. Who would have thought that you could enjoy riding on a little coaster in German inspired town in the middle of the mountains. My partner and I were staying in nearby Clarksville and saw a billboard for this mountain coaster and we had to go! For $15 per person this is a 10/10 experience of fun! We went early on a Saturday and only had to wait around 15 minutes to get on our cart. And as we got closer, we realized that we could ride together which was an added bonus. This may only be a mountain coaster but it goes fast and you are up HIGH. DEFINITELY don't understand the thrill of this coaster. While visiting Helen with family, my young niece was very excited to take a ride on this mountain coaster in town. The wait was a bit long (about an hour), but I was happy to see that some of the extra time was being taken to wipe down and sanitize every car that came back down (during COVID-19.) Masks were also required while waiting in line and purchasing tickets. The tickets are a little pricy for what amounts to a pretty short ride, but it's a cool novelty experience that you can't find everywhere so I thought it was worth it. My niece rode in a cart with her dad and my boyfriend and I each had our own cart. The carts go up on a track and then you head down the windy track back to the bottom. You are able to control the speed of your cart, so if you are brave and don't touch your brakes, you can pick up a pretty good amount of speed which feels very fast when whipping around the curves. I was not quite brave enough to not use the brakes at all, but I still had a blast! The wooded mountain area is also very pretty so you'll enjoy the view going up and down, and also you have a nice view of downtown Helen below while waiting in line. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend taking a ride on the mountain coaster! read more
