These folks are terrible. Whoever they have doing customer service on the phone is trying, you can tell, but they don't understand the billing system or the online account system. We recently bought our house, which came with the leased solar panels, and just as we were moving in, Sunnova went bankrupt and SunStrong took over. It's been horrible. We never get bills or statements and their online account system is difficult to navigate or understand. Once they decide you're past due (even if you haven't gotten a statement), they don't even call you, they just send voice messages that are impossible to hear or understand. When you call, they are nice enough but you can tell they don't know what's going on and half the time, the call gets disconnected. We either owe $72 or $74 or $78 or $144 or possibly $900. Update: I can no longer log in to the Sunnova app to view my production. I am very curious how many others are experiencing this. Cust Serv told me I needed to be registered in the app prior to October 29th 2025 to use it, which I absolutely was. And for those without access, they are working on upgrades to allow new registrations but there is "no specific timeframe for when the system enhancements will be fully completed or when new registrations will reopen". I call BS and am thinking none of us can view production anymore and they have no intention of ever re-implementing that ability. I encourage you all to email your loc assembly member regarding the bad business this company is doing. I emailed assembly member Leticia Carrillo whose office responded that they would be contacting the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) for direction in how to contact Sun Strong (this was when customer service was completely unresponsive). If I could give zero stars I would. As everyone is saying this company was completely unprepared when taking over Sunnova. When we bought our new home in California we were forced to pay for solar, had no choice as to who would provide that and it's been my biggest headache since we moved in. Sun Strong bills a different amount each month, their portal is juvenile at best and trying to speak with anyone is at least a 90 minute hold. If I could go anywhere else I would but my advice for anyone who might have a choice in their solar provider would be to run as far away from Sun Strong as possible. SunStrong took over the Sunpower monitoring service that I got when I bought Sunpower solar panels about 8 years ago. One of the big reasons I went with Sunpower was because it came with individual panel monitoring and historical data performance tracking, so you could see when individual panels stopped performing and compare performance over time. That was all part of the package. When SunStrong took it over, they now don't offer those two basic services unless I pay them a subscription of $9.99/mo forever. They should have grandfathered in customers like me who bought in with a different plan. This shows me they lack integrity and can't be trusted. read more

Sunstrong and their complete incompetence continue to bill me months later, and there is no option to turn off autopay on their website. Horrible customer service on both scheduling a repair and Billing!! My wife and I went on vacation October 16th thru November 15th and when we returned the whole systems had stop working. After numerous on hold forever calls I finally got ahold of someone. Was told that the a workorder would have to be generated and that it could take up to 15 days. Called back 20 days later and was told that the request had been sent to a local repair company and that they should have us on schedule shortly. Waited another two weeks and had to call the company myself. Still waiting on repairs. I called the billing line to and when I told the rep that a stop payment on future monthly payment would be made today all of a sudden I'm not on the account just my wife and she would have to call in. The service in both departments is total garbage!!! Pretty sure they will want to speak with me when this months payment is not made!! read more

Like the others I have had a horrible experience with SunStrong. I was a Sunnova customer since 2021 without ever experiencing any problems. At about the time SunStrong took over one of my panels died and communication with the Gateway is sporadic. After not being able to get a live person on the phone and never getting an answer to numerous problem messages on their website I iniated a problem concern on the Better Business Bureau website. I finally got a call and an email from SunStrong today. They stated that since it is only one panel and my system is still generating power They are not going to do anything. So far the only thing they have accomplished is collecting the monthly payment on time. I would not recommend SunStrong to anyone looking to get a solar system. read more

The worst customer service with reps who have nothing but attitude on the phone. They claimed we didn't make a payment with Sunnova over a YEAR AGO when there is proof that it was paid, along with stating there's an additional $10 sales tax/ month on top of our monthly payments with sun strong management that we "agreed" to which we DID NOT. If I could give Sunstrong zero stars, I would. When my system was under SunPower, everything worked exactly as promised. I could log in, see my production, track performance, and feel confident that I had made a smart investment. SunPower was transparent, reliable, and actually seemed to value its customers. Then Sunstrong took over and everything went downhill fast. Now they have decided to charge a monthly subscription fee just to see my own solar production data. This is information from panels I already paid for, on my own roof, and they are holding it hostage unless I pay them more every single month. It is not a premium feature. It is the most basic part of having solar. This is nothing but a greedy cash grab. They already made their money on the system and installation, and now they want to squeeze customers for more on a service we were already receiving. There was no warning, no choice, and no respect for the people who invested thousands in good faith. Sunstrong has turned what was a positive experience into one of the most frustrating and disappointing purchases I have ever made. If you are thinking about solar, avoid this company entirely. Sunstrong assumed control of Sunnova's assets due to Sunnova filing for bankruptcy. I had autopay setup with Sunnova for over a year and we were told that would transfer over and no action was needed on our part. When the first payment was due they contacted me and said my credit card on my autopay was invalid. But what really happened was when they transferred my account the payment data was corrupted. So I updated everything and they told me my payment was processed successfully. Now one week later they are calling and texting me telling me I have missed a payment. The BBB Grade F they have must of been well earned. What an incompetent company. read more

I would leave 0 stars of possible. Sun Strong bought the solar company that we leased our solar panels from while we were selling our house. They didn't properly transfer our records to the buyers (we followed every step to make sure all paperwork was done) and they now call us every day for late payments because they haven't contacted the new owner. HOWEVER, every time the call us they send themselves directly to voicemail so we can't answer their call. We called them back multiple times and have waited on hold, but have only gotten through to them once. The one time we did get through to them, they told us to send them an email detailing the issue. We sent them an email, they called us back, AGAIN sending themselves to voicemail to tell us that they needed to talk to us... they purposefully make it impossible to get ahold of them. They're a horrible company and should have their license revoked. I can't express in words how awful our experience has been. They're HORRIBLE. read more

The service provided by Sunstrong Management is WORSE than NO SERVICE AT ALL. - customers have to wait more than 60 days just to have anyone contact them to address any issues with their solar power generation. - they consistently offer one excuse after another for not being able to provide services to fix any issues with their solar panels for power generation. - customer service is worse than non-existent. - they do not have solar installers to diagnose issues. - even after getting multiple tickets generated, there has been no response from Sunstrong Management and my system is still down. Sun Strong has never gotten back to me. - they do DO NOT respond to messages left on their portal not do they return phone calls. - they will not allow customers to get off the lease, even when their systems DO NOT generate any solar power. My assessment - the operation is fraudulent. I plan to have my attorney contact the company so I can get out of the lease as soon as possible. read more

Cant get anyone to provide me with a UCC3 that I have been asking for for days. I sent them copies of three UCC1s they filed and got only one UCC3 that did not list all filings. They will not speak with me, each time I have to get the owner on the line. Its solar panels not asking for your first born. They should be able to speak with the owner's attorney. I got my solar system in 2011, installed by SunPower's installation contractor, Solaire. Solaire is no longer in business & hasn't been since shortly after installing my system. My solar payments go to SunPower each month & have been for the 14 years I've had the system. So, I have been contacting SunPower for any necessary support of my system. My production guarantee hasn't been met for 9 out of the 14 years I've had this system. Now, for the past 18 months, my solar system hasn't worked at all. NO PRODUCTION! Yet, I still am required to make my payments, NO MATTER WHAT!!! In my contract, it states these things: - If the installation contractor goes out of business, SunPower is responsible to assign me a new contractor to support my system. - If my system underperforms, SunPower will contact me to reimburse me for the difference in production, & to resolve the issues causing the underproduction. - I have a 20-year warranty on the system, & that any issues will be addressed & resolved by SunPower. SunPower has done NONE of this. Nor have they acknowledged or addressed the underperformance issues. I have had to contact them for everything. They won't even acknowledge there is a problem. Their response every time I call is, "Your system is performing as it should." Per my repeated phone calls with my complaints, SunPower responded with this: 1. First, they said that MY trees had gotten too big & were causing the underproduction. (My trees only shade a very small corner of 2 of the panels for about 10 minutes in the afternoons.) 2. Next call, they said it is MY Wi-Fi that is the problem. (Which I don't & haven't had a problem with) 3. Then the next call, they said the underproduction is due to MY soiled panels. (Of which, I clean them myself, they are NOT dirty.) They said they have information that proves they are dirty. Then they sent me an email telling me I needed to resolve the 3 things I listed above & that I had 30 days to resolve these issues, or basically I would have to accept the consequences from them. (One of which was voiding any production guarantee & 20 year warranty.) 1. So, I cut down the 3 trees they told me were the issue, (to the tune of over $1000.00). 2. I told them again, I don't & haven't had an issue with my Wi-Fi 3. Repeated to them again, that I, myself, clean my panels, they aren't dirty! After more than 10 years of repeated calling, begging, & pleading with them, they finally sent out a tech to check the system. (& Shut me up!) The tech said my Wi-Fi isn't working. I said, "Yes, it is, I was online just now inside my house, it's working just fine." So, he wiggled a wire inside one of their boxes mounted on my house, & BOOM! The Wi-Fi started working on the solar system, at least temporarily. When I read the report from that ONLY visit by SunPower, it listed the same 3 things (1-3) that were the problem with the system. Furthermore, their inverter that is mounted on my house, hasn't had an LED readout on the screen since less than a year after installation. The tech that came out that one time, was thumping on it to try & get it to work. He even tried to clean it by spitting on his fingers & trying to wipe it clean! I told him it hasn't worked in years. He didn't even acknowledge that in his report! Not only that, the invertor blinks failure all the time, he didn't acknowledge that in his report either. Yet I was getting text messages on my phone from SunPower asking me to give them the failure code on the invertor. REPEATEDLY, I have told then, "I can't see it, the LED readout on it hasn't worked for years." But every time I call, all I ever get is, "Your system is working & producing as it should." They won't even consider giving me a new invertor. (One that works correctly & isn't obsolete.) I'm paying for equipment that doesn't work properly, blinks failure regularly, underproduces, gives failure codes that can't be read on my end, & I still have 6 more years to continue paying for this, & now it doesn't work at all, IT has PRODUCED NOTHING for the last 18 months!! I've kept my end of the contract with them & completed everything they have asked of me, in a timely manner. But they haven't met their requirements as stated in my contract..In fact, they have breached the contract repeatedly since year one! Not to mention, they are charging me more per Kilowatt the San Diego Gas & Electric does. I've gotten NO support from them ever, my system has worked at all for 18 months & yet I still have to make my payments, but they haven't reimbursed me for any of the underproduction as guaranteed! I was with Solar for 7-8 years with no problem. I could monitor my panels on line and if I had a problem I could call and they were wright there. Now I have been switched over to SunStrong and no monitoring , no one to answer your problems or concerns, is this company even legit. I have reached out to them several times over the past few weeks to no avail. The first man said in a few days someone would call me. The second man said put in a ticket online, the third man said someone would get back to me in a month or so. My box outside has two flashing red lights, I have never seen that. I don't know if there is a electrical problem, if the panels are charging or dear God if these panels are going to catch on fire. The man on the phone said he understood all my concerns but there is nothing he can do. Are they going to pay for damages or an electric bill? I have been dealing with SunStrong since October 2024 - I currently have 3 panels that are not working and both batteries are failing and the alarm system for the batteries has continually chirped since early May 2025. I have sent in numerous messages and talked to a large # of representatives many of whom have lied to me. It is impossible to contact their headquarters in Austin, TX. Avoid this company at all costs. They are so bad they are not even listed with the BBB. I contacted the CA Public Utilities Commission and they have referred me to the Contractors State License Board and the Department of Financial Protection and Innovation to file further complaints. read more
