Freedom Power team --…read more THANK YOU! Our system is the best advertisement you -- and Tesla -- could ask for. Our propane-generator neighbors are genuinely envious. There is no comparison. STORM TEST. Tesla installed our original Powerwall last March and Freedom Power added the extension battery this week -- two batteries now. Within hours of finishing, an electrical storm subjected the neighborhood to several hours of brownouts and blackouts. A few grow-lights flickered briefly. None of the clocks needed resetting. No noticeable latency -- Wi-Fi and everything else just stayed up. Except for the lightning and thunderclaps, we hardly noticed the storm. Rate math (FPL RTR-1 Time-of-Use). On-peak grid power runs about 29¢/kWh. Off-peak is about 6-8¢/kWh, and off-peak includes a real credit, not just a smaller charge. PRE-EXTENSION PACK. On our latest bill (1,671 kWh): only 61 kWh on-peak (3.7%) and 1,610 off-peak. The TOU structure saved us roughly $67 (July) versus the same usage with no off-peak credit. Every peak kWh we avoid is worth about 21¢ against off-peak. YESTERDAY'S LOAD TEST. Stove, hairdryer, showers, Instant Pot, TVs, computers, and air conditioning at 77°F -- and we still had 31% battery left at 9 PM, the end of the summer peak window. Under the single Powerwall we often scraped the last two hours and leaked expensive peak kWh. With the second battery, we held the whole peak on reserve with room to spare. When Elon offers vehicle-to-home (V2H) power-sharing in something nicer than the Cybertruck (wife hates the look), we'll add that to the backup stack. Solar roof tiles still feel like overkill for us -- but you've earned enough trust that we might change our minds. I already have one referral in the tunnel. I'll let you know when it lands. Our thanks to Joshua Leathers and the entire team at Freedom Solar Power for their performance and professionalism. We started noticing our lights flickering and dimming, which progressively got worse over time. We finally hired Mr. Electric to investigate, and the technician was stunned by what he found: Longhorn Solar failed to ground the system properly. The electrician explicitly told us he was amazed our house hadn't burned down and that someone didn't get hurt! Because the setup posed such a massive, immediate safety hazard, the city was called and shut off our power on the spot. We had to pay for emergency repairs and wait through a stressful city re-inspection before the power could legally be turned back on. As someone who works from home, being left completely without power was an enormous hardship and disrupted my livelihood. The most important moments were a couple visits to his office to look at prices and materials. I was shocked at the differences. He also gave me permission to work along side him during the entire project, from start to finish. He is exactly the kind of person you are looking for; hard-working, funny, and honest. He would correct the slightest error. While working together we discussed everything from politics to the environment. I will never forget installing the micro-inverters on Labor Day, Sept 5, 2011. We could see smoke from four fires; Bastrop to the East, Steiner Ranch to the Southwest, Pedernales/Spicewood to the West, and Leander to the Northwest. Five stars for personality, attention to detail, and excellent prices on higher-quality materials. We salute Chris for a personalized system we will enjoy for many years. The equipment--the inverter, conduit, disconnect box--was placed on the wall of the house in a very neat, organized manner. Also, Chris walked us through the paperwork with the power transmission company and the power company. He always showed up on time, as scheduled. Then a few years later, after trouble free operation, we thought there was a problem with the inverter. We called Chris and he made an appointment for the next day to meet at the house. He determined the fuses in the breaker box out at the panels were blown and replaced them at that visit. CRSolar is a local company here to stay. We are so glad to have CRSolar to have done our installation. We highly recommend CRSolar without any reservation! Dennis and Allison T.
